Obviously there's nothing there in canon, but in an au where I shoot the shots, yep, shit happens. One of the creators of the IDW line, Evan Stanley, she used to create her own Sonic fan comic series, Ghosts of Future Past I think it was called? (Wasn’t a A Christmas Carol knock off at all) It was so good imo, and it’s a big reason why I loved reading the IDW line now a days (and yes, pirating at the moment, but I didn’t realize you could buy IDW online (my state’s stores stopped selling the Sonic series at all), so I think I’m going to make room in my budget next month… plus maybe some extra for what I’ve missed 😉)

I like how they never change the fact that Blaze naturally has a crush on Sonic but will always treat him as just a friend for numerous reasons. I just always assumed she would never make an attempt to confess simply because she believes her royal position in her dimension would make relationships impossible

well this isnt the only time they hinted at it. Blaze’s counterpart in sonic and the black knight blushes when the sword character says: “save the hugs and kisses for later” when he rescues her. On sonic rush they hold on to each other’s hands as much as they can before being ripped apart back to their own dimensions. On rush adventure their goodbye is pretty telling as well (at least on Blaze’s side). I can see why so many believe the head cannon that she likes him.

Namely in the fact that storybook versions of the characters are supposed to have many of the same emotions as their original counterparts and Percival (Blaze’s Black Knight counterpart) was flustered after being saved by Sonic, not to mention she blushed after being called out by Caliburn. In Sonic Rush, after they team up as Super Sonic and Burning Blaze, they try to hold on to each other as long as they can and even when they are being flung away from each other so that Blaze can return to her own world, Blaze was still reaching out for Sonic. Then in Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games (I don’t remember which one) whenever Amy tries to do any events that seem romantic in some way with Sonic, Blaze tends to try to stop her. In Rush Adventure there was that time in the end of the game when Sonic and Blaze shook hands but they found it hard to let go, until Tails called Sonic so they could leave to their world. And now, Blaze is blushing and flustered whenever Sonic holds her hand here. Idk if any of this can be considered concrete evidence or anything… but it seems likely that Sega has been doing some teasing.

I know a lot of people rock with Silvaze but I've always really adored Sonic and Blaze's chemistry with each other. Their personalities just bounce off each other so well. Seeing them both interacting is always such a treat.

My only gripe is how empty the city looks, but I guess that's because Spagonia is supposed to be a human city and Sega is a little cagey these days about having any humans other than Eggman running around

@@christophercardoza2872 the idea that contemporary human society actually exists in Sonic's world was introduced in Sonic Adventure (before then I think they were trying to float the idea that it was a post apocalyptic future, like in the archie comic or ova movie) but as far as I'm aware humans aside from Eggman only appear in 5 games, Adventures 1&2, Shadow, '06, and Unleasehed, and Sega seems to kind of regret that fact and if they could would retcon them out of existence, but the fans won't let them do that...

That moment between them was really cool. Since I like Sonaze, I was surprised that they made Blaze blush when Sonic held his hand. It reminded me of that scene from the game “Sonic and the Black Knight” where Sonic saved Percival, leaving her surprised, and then Caliburn tells them both to leave the hugs and kisses for later and Percival blushes. Not only did it remind me of that, but it also showed that Blaze can have a soft spot for Sonic, both in the games and the comics.

This feels more if a date then a hang out.

Sonaze is the real OTP and no one will ever tell me otherwise, despite having way less sharing screentime together, Sonic has shown way more chemestry with Blaze than any other girl in the series.

Thank you. I'm glad someone said it. I've been a Sonaze fan for years now, since Sonic Rush and, you are right, he showed more chemistry with Blaze in that one game then Amy ever has. To me, she comes across as the "creepy stalker", fangirl type who sonic would do well to avoid as much as possible. Blaze, on the other hand,meshes well with his personality and she can keep up with him, both in, and out, of combat. Much better for him in my personal opinion.

Even if Sonaze wasn’t my favorite ship, I’d still find this scene incredibly wholesome and adorable. I’ll always love Sonic and Blaze’s dynamic. They work off of each other so well

This was voiced perfectly and it only makes me want them to be a couple all the more! I know Sega favors Amy, the Ian favors Sally, but damnit, Blaze and Sonic pair together so goddamn well its not even funny! They balance each other out perfectly without needing to change either of their personalities and I absolutely adore this couple!

Not to start a ship war or anything, but it's odd how this one little comic section did something for me with Sonic and Blaze that 30 years of extended media couldn't do for Sonic and Amy; make their relationship feel natural and not forced. But with Sonic and Blaze, it's been a really nice slow burn, where there are only minor interactions, but they are always meaningful. The blushing when she holds his hand here and in SatBK, how she goes from being annoyed just by hearing his name to respecting him and seeking his guidance, the opposite personalities but matching abilities and traits, it's like Sonic Team accidentally made the perfect pairing but can't use it because they're too busy ruining what little character Amy has. Again, not to try and promote one over the other, just find it weird that the side character who's from another dimension and is almost never around has such better written chemistry than the character Sonic spends most of his time with and was literally designed to be his 'girlfriend'.

I mean I think the comics have done a way better job of the interactions between him and Amy then the games ever did. That obsessive stalker has become a much more responsible and mature character, and the two actually interact with good chemistry now. I don't really have a prefered ship, (I just don't care), but I think Amy's been better than she ever has.

I agree with OP. Big Sonaze fan, never liked Amy because she was so aggressive with her affection when Sonic clearly didn't want it. If we continue getting Frontiers Amy in future games and Sonic changes his mind and dates Amy, I'd be okay with it. Still, there's just something with his dynamic with Blaze that works so much better for me.

​​@@sararatliff7707 It's the "opposites attract" thing you see in media so much. Blaze is formal, dutiful and responsible, Sonic is casual, carefree and adventurous. Their personalities bounce off each other naturally because of how different they are. Also, Blaze is more obviously a peer to Sonic, she can literally keep up with him. It's why Amy never really works as a love interest when you play up the "fangirl" portrayal of her affections, she's never really a peer to Sonic. Sega's trying to develop Amy into more than the "girlfriend" character, and Frontiers is a great step forward, but they still need to actually define what Amy brings to the table so she can be an actual peer to Sonic the way Knuckles and Tails are.

Not a shipper, but damn is it nice to see Sonic and Blaze just kicking back especially Blaze. Plus Blaze could stand to start learning how to relax a bit.

It’s always interesting to notice that blaze can keep up with Sonic’s speed knowing that he can always have a travel partner on the ground besides tails on the in the Air

(Wonder if she is afraid of heights? Never imagined she was) I love this mini comic the best one so far. I especially love a sight from Sonic Unleashed, like it's great to see this world again. One of the best things about this is how it really does look like and "unofficial" date. The views he like, the memories she loves, the view, their talk, how lazily casual yet seemingly show off of a move he's pulling off on the clock, and the miniature hand hold. Never gotten into being Sonaze but this comic was a nice informative. Thank you for sharing.

This was really nice! My little Sonaze heart is undeniably happy!❤ If i remember correctly, there is a IDW comic where they actually kiss, i will try and find it later.

But how does Blaze fight and run so well in HEELS. I know some people are very good in heels but Blaze is on another level
