btw, I agree with you, the "drowning countdown" music just stresses me out and cause me to panic, to the point if it's gonna be played, I mute the game audio to avoid getting scared and stress, as it's the music coupled with the drowning countdown that freaks me out

Specifically the Japanese tidal tempest song.

The drowning theme is definitely scary, but the underwater level in the original TMNT was always stressful. Then add in the coral shock sound when you touch it is a heartattack waiting to happen!

Sonic’s worst fear! If Robotnik had done this around 30 years ago, he probably would’ve won! (But, apparently hedgehogs CAN swim, so... 😐)

What we need is a mashup of all these sonic roms. Sonic but everything is underwater, and on fire, and every ring Sonic collects he gets fat, also he is just a head.

I'm excited to see what happens to Labyrinth zone. My hypothesis is that it'll either be completely dry so the flooding will work, or maybe it'll be backwards for that level where it'll randomly get dry. I hope you keep playing so we can find out 👁👄👁👍

Completely agreed that the Sonic drowning music is horrifying. It's an escalating pace of panic and terror, at the end of which, you die. Nothing is worse.

Hmmm... I will be honest, it's definitely a twist that I never would of come up with.

8:53 Hundun's Hideaway from Spelunky 2 is really well made, not only does it sound creepy but it really adds to the pressure of "this is the final boss and if you die now you have to go back to the start of the game"

If Sonic level were all underwater in the real game, i think i would of quit playing, Sonic water levels drove me mad. You had a lot of patience to play this. you rock.

Ur fav is MARBLE? It’s where the game falls apart until starlight. Because it’s just platforming and no speed. Not even one slope

You can do more of that sonic 1 hack. I think that they made marble hill zone boss even easier then what it was to beat with the goggle monitor in the middle though and it wasn't as hard for the greenhill boss it seemed that if you stood on the monitor you didn't get hit either but maybe I was mistaken but who knows unless someone plays it and just stands on the monitor. But great video. I know that the maker of sonic 3D blast has a hack that gives you more stuff to do on the game and gives you super sonic in the download he has if you are interested in playing that. 👍

The problem is... that tananananaanananaanananana bom! You died... that is really heartbreaking

This. You. This. Nope. Out of horror games and tense situations, Sonic drowning is the worst. The worst. That music.. the last moment when you finally drown when trying hard to surface.. good playing though, hope your nerves weren't too frayed.

Think again,hydrocity (hydro city) is considered to be one the best levels in the series,and it a"Water level"

The drowning isn't scary to me it's kinda cool

Love this BTG was awesome so weird to see you underwater what always got me how it must of felt weird feeling when in Sonic was in and out of water physics wise while in the air!

You can play upside down water in labyrintih zone in sonic 1. It's a fun rom hack.

Tails supports spindash fly and swim like in Sonic 3. Other Sonic 1 hacks can't or can support.

I always felt that the Temple of Time music from Ocarina of Time was more terrifying than it had any right to be

To think my first question was how Labyrinth would be affected - since a lot of that level wasnt built to NOT be underwater - if its going back and forth thatd make the level pretty different.

I've played this hack during SHC '21. It's pretty funny for me.

I'd love for you to continue this series at some point. Did you notice that some badniks behaved differently underwater? Like the buzz bomber shooting many times and faster?

Underwater levels in general are a pain in the butt, even in Super Mario bros as well!

Actually Darby, the term is "Special Zone", not bonus game. A weird place that somehow houses a Chaos Emerald in each one. And for some reason, Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik, doesn't bother entering them himself

my favourite sonic zone is surprisingly a water level hydro city zone or as I call it hydro city from sonic free and knuckles. I like it because it’s not a slow paced water level. Also this was a great video and I would love to see more of sonic flash flood, additional whatever it was called imagine how difficult labyrinth zone would be labyrinth zone more like dang it stop with all the water zone.

When i was a kid when i frist played sonice the hedgehog 2 in chemical Zone i was bad at the level when i fell in the purple water hearing that drowning music really freak me out

11:24 Underwater lava that can actually burn you?! THAT DOES NOT EVEN MAKE ANY SENSE!!! I know from my experience in minecraft that if water touches lava the lava turns to either obsidian or stone. I got that info from minecraft.

Well if we do get an episode 2 and we do.2 zones labrainth zone will be interesting

labryinth zone is the only sonic water level that is bad but the other water levels in sonic games are top 3 in their games.

It's weird that you use your name as BTG (Blue Television Games) for short and I use mine as LTG (Lucian The Gamer) for short. XD

Hmm I gotta say. I like marble zone and laybrinth. There honestly hard for me cuz I stoped play sonic games 1 year ago but I can still beat it tho. I gotta say also the drowning music makes me rush alot.

The bonus level music is a 16 bit version of Tidal Tempest Good Future from sonic CD.
