Damn, the music for Ice Cap is SUCH a banger, maybe my favourite in all of Sonic (though Adventure 2 has some great songs too!)

I always wanted this game as a kid. I got Sonic & Knuckles but one of my friends had Sonic 3 so we'd play it at each other's houses. He'd do Sonic 3 part and I'd be tails then I would be Sonic for the S&K part so we could get hyper forms. It wasn't until 2003 when I got Sonic Mega Collection on Gamecube that I finally had both games. I also got the carts from ebay in 2015 and Origins too.

Also wanted to mention - since in the Sonic 2 video you mentioned Mystic Caves as one of your favorite zones, I'd recommend looking at the 'Mystic Caves Maniafied' mod. It isn't as visually upgraded as the official remastered zones in Sonic Mania, and I found item placement to be a tad excessive, but it's still a really cool remaster IMO of an underrated level!

I've never lost a life to the final boss of OG Sonic 3 so Im surprised at how far back you get sent. Sonic games i feel are too forgiving that most fights aren't hard except the sonic 2 FB was hard especially for a kid who had to deal and adapt to "gitting gud".

I can vividly remember the day my mother took me to buy this game. What the weather was like, where we went after buying it from Smiths, my excitement walking back home. Stuff like that is why I love games beyond the games themselves. And I like it when KZreadrs like yourself share your memories conjured by revisiting these games. It's a unique thing gamers our age have I reckon, having grown up alongside the medium. I also remember the first time I got to the bloody barrell of doom too. And the day my brother found the solution in a magazine in the news agents. It wasn't Sonic the Comic either

Do you think Sonic 3&K's better than Sonic 2? That's all I'd really like to know, rest can wait 😀 You had said in 2021 that 2's the best but I think both 3&K and Mania deserve to be a cut above so I'd like to know I you've had a change of mind. More content, more transitions between levels, more story, just an epic in ways Sonic 2 could only dream to be! (Only 3&K above 2, not 3 alone or S&K alone - as a set of six consecutive zones, Sonic 2 from Emerald Hill up through Mystic Caves is hard to top.) Also if you've played Superstars is it worth a $40 or so sale? Lastly in terms of Classic games...I highly recommend the fangame Triple Trouble 16 Bit. It's practically of official quality, IMO.

I personally prefer 2 over 3&K. Though I understand how you would feel differently. I explain it in the next video :) No, I have not played Superstars yet. I might check out Triple Trouble 16 bit, thanks!

Great question...I don't want to spoil my opinion on 3&K yet as I talk about it in my next video. Sonic Mania is my number 1 though 💯

I love this game but i don’t like the new sonic and tails sprite this game introduces, i do like the knuckles sprite though!

The emulator here is butchering the sound effects lmao. It makes the ones you complain about sound far worse than they actually do.

Yeah it's the Ultimate Mega Drive Collection on PS3. I can confirm, that it doesn't sound that bad on Mega Drive. Didn't realize until after the video was finished.

I have an emulator that similarly ruins the rolling sounds. It's pretty horrendous.

I didn't think an official product by Sega would make the sound that much worse than on an old console...but I guess I was pretty naive 😅🙈
