I love song from scratch videos. Gives me perspective on my own process. So when you get dropouts like that do you typically resample? I imagine it was the automation taking a lot of juice.

Yup. Resampling is the name of the game. And in this case you’re totally right. It was the automation track that was taxing it - tho the BOD 7 patches are pretty heavy too. I resampled the track I used automation view on for this song and in the version I’m playing with currently it runs fine. I approach it different in different situations. If I’m just getting clipping I don’t worry too much because I usually track everything out for final mix in my DAW. But if I’m getting voice dropping with only a few tracks, or before I’ve arranged - def resample time! Cheers!
Nice vid but not really a song from scratch when the first thing you do is import full rhythm samples...the fun and hard work in full song creation is in making your own beats surely?

Sometimes I start by sequencing my own beats, sometimes I use loops as starters to find the melodic parts first and then work backwards to the beat. In either situation I almost always end up sequencing a beat on top (or have our drummer play live.) For this one, I knew I wanted to make a weird rhythmic texture in automation view and knew I’d be spending a lot of time in there and that would prob be what most people wanted to see.
