@laurent outan, actually Phil woods wrote this piece specifically for Victor Morosco, so if anything Vic plays it exactly as it was meant to be played. Also it may be unknown that Phil woods taught victor Morosco how to improv. They were good buddies since Juliard.

Best version ever! I've always thought of Victor as a classical guy, with great ears, skill and passion.

Weird, I started watching this video and all of a sudden, the painting that's hanging above my mantle popped up on the video. Talk about a double take!

Who's the pianist? Also, I see the version now published is a revision from 1997. Anyone know the circumstances, or even whether it was Woods who did the revision? From what I've seen of the newer version, I think I might rather have the original.

This is rhythmic, like Jazz (tap your foot) but, unlike Jazz, the listener desires to clap on the beat, instead of off the beat. Sounds like Phil!!

Doesn't really make me want to clap, but i get your point. It makes me want to grab a woman and arm in arm step-step and sway! and spin her around a few times. lol

Me too , I prefer John Harle's . This version don't respect the idea , the spirit of that piece.

Laurent Outan This performance is stylistically authentic within the bounds set by the composer. Harle does very well, but this version goes even further towards the stylistic integrity. Remember this is Music by Phil Woods and not Desenclos or even Boutry, and is essentially a jazz sonata.

this piece was literally written for the victor morosco so if this version doesnt respect the idea, or the spirit then i dont know what version does.
