    This chamber concerto for alto saxophon and chamber orchestra (wind quintet + trumpet + string quintet) is well in line with the style often playful of Jacques Ibert. It is a delight for the spirit and for the ears.

    I love this piece. It’s always been one of my favorites. I’m currently a junior in high school and I’m thinking of playing the first movement for solo and ensemble this year but I’m deathly scared of the altissimo sections lol.

    Marcel Mule didn't play the altissimo ossia ~ there is much to learn from the Ibert on any level! Happy practicing :)

    Arno Bornkamp is a true consummate musician! I saw him perform a solo recital and he gave program notes from the stage, all from memory! His playing was as immaculate live as heard in this recording.

    Well, I got in! And then have gone on to leave music school to work full time in a factory, but I'm going back to school next year to work with computers. Saxophone is still a driving force in my life

    That would be pretty neat (especially intriguing is how his nose could form a proper embouchure), although I have since checked the score and found out that it's the 1st violin and the flute that hold the note out, which, when combined, seem to match the timbre of Arno's note very closely. :)

    honestly it kinda sounds like the flutes are playing it, maybe he played that specific note in tune with the flutes to get that effect
