I have done this exact same thing at all you can eat sushi.

I enjoy the guests, but I have to admit that I think these opening and closing banter segments are the funniest part of the podcast. I am surprised Sona wasn't sentence for permanent duty on that podcast submarine from a few episodes back.

the way I expected this story to go: Sona sitting at the bar just having some drinks and when other guests ordered too much sushi she goes over and eats it - free sushi! how it went: shameful food waste.

Also, when Gourley threw in "I Learned it from watching you Dad!" - as someone who grew up and saw that anti-drug commercial as a teenager ALL THE TIME, it's part of my sub-conscious, and I chuckle whenever that Line gets tossed in somewhere

Matt and Andy share the "comedy sniper" gene. They stay quiet but when they go for it, it's always one shot one kill.

Gourley found an error but apparently he wasn’t able to make chump meat out of the maestro.

Conan's ability to come up with the Octo-pie rationale so quickly is why he's the GOAT

"Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I'm a catholic tunafish" I like that the religious background is addressed, that makes this story way more believable, you know... coming from a chopped up tunafish that's been dead for a while. rofl

Matt Gourley is the special secret sauce that levels up these conversations. 🤣

Gourley is really quick-witted and hilarious

Regarding the point made around 6min: it's called "all you can eat sushi", and they only charge extra for the ones you couldn't eat; all you could eat, as advertised, remain at a flat rate - the logic is, in fact, bulletproof.

I am filled with joy when Matt or Sona get Conan to genuinely belly laugh.

That sushi policy has screwed me over many times when eating at these places with friends. They will wind up not being able to finish their sushi, and because I feel bad, I end up finishing their rolls for them. Granted, it's my own fault for even putting up with it. Which is why I don't go to AYCE sushi with friends anymore. Remember folks, eat at your own pace. Your eyes are bigger than your stomach.

There is a place in Seattle called Blue Sea Sushi where you pay per mini-plate. Each plate is color coded to match its value. So you just pay for however many plates you took off the conveyor.

According to Mirriam-Webster and the Cambridge dictionaries, octopi and octopuses are both acceptable plurals. Octopodes is not a plural form, but the genus. The Quartz article is an opinion, not a definition.
