Yep, I love how even though those children were poor they still had respect and integrity, as we know some children act out, become bullies, lose self respect etc. etc. This is the way that it is supposed to be that is why those children got blessed, I love the message that this cartoon radiates.

I use to watch this with my family when I was quite little in the early 2000's. My grandma would compare this to her time growing up during the Great Depression, and I never forgot it. Somehow this cartoon was able to bridge that gap and helped me be grateful for what I have rather than what I don't. Rest easy Grandma. I will always remember you through this cartoon, and I will show my children when they are born.

This made me nostalgic, heartbroken and I'm crying, but I feel so happy to know that despite the hardships, my mom did what I could say right now almost the impossible, to raise us and we weren't rich, nor terribly poor, our needs were met and we had what we could. We were happy with it. I remember these cartoons and my childhood comes. My mom loves this style of cartoons and I know she would love to see them. Memory childhood.....I got it worse when I was young. I'm glad I watched it again 😊😊❤❤
I want to think that at the end of this short, the Baker graciously gave their mother a job and she would bring home the left over baked goods.
It's wild how a child can see the best in everything. I seen this as a child and just thought It was a fun cartoon. But watching it as a 39 year old I see the truth to this and honest to God it's bringing tears to my eyes. I don't know wether I'd rather be ignorant to such things like I was as a child or to feel and known how it truly is. The prospect of ignorance is only phesable in ignorance alone for once one becomes aware there is nothing that can remove that awareness. Just happy to be alive. God Bless you all!!
Fleischer Studio stories with kids are some of the best stories... It's so often about kids who need something and even if they don't behave as well as demanded of them in that time, they barely ever get punished. It's full of love. And despite the quality of the videos and the deterioration, really well animated, especially the backgrounds.

I haven't seen this since I was a little kid and we had a VHS of all old and classic cartoons. It definitely hits differently as an adult with kids than it did when I was the kid. I managed to hold back the tears when the mom started crying because that's all the food there was, but I lost that composure when they pulled up their little blankets and they were so riddled with holes that they didn't even cover their little bodies. 😭
I've first seen this when I was 7 years old. I am 42 years old and this still makes me cry

Adolph Zukor lived to be 103. If you saw this as a kid in the 80s it would have brought tears to your eyes.
2:45 i just realized that song playing in the background is “schubert serenade”
As a kid, I never thought this was sad. I loved it because of the food areas they walked through in Dream Land.

I watched this whole thing through. My head instantly goes to Grimm's darker versions. When the Kids go to sleep, they die due to malnourishment. Their bodies float up to heaven, and when they wake up, they see a feast. Somewhere in Dreamland seems to me a darker version, and Parallels the story of The Little Match Girl. My mind sees this story interpretation through Grimms and Perrault's lens.

This is my FAVORITE cartoon. It got me through some tough times as a kid and to this day I get emotional watching it. I think of it often and had to search to find it. No one ever knows what it is but that’s fine. It’s great to see others who love it just as much ❤
Using CGI computer looking cartoons cannot match the real paint colors from old cartoons, let's go back to the old drawing board, need any proof, just look at this beautiful cartoon.

I used to watch this a lot as a kid.. we had it on a vhs tape full of looney tunes or old cartoons or something. I'm amazed i found it.. i used to always get so emotional watching it.
I had this memory of this cartoon maybe 10yrs ago and scoured the Internet trying to find it. I used to watch it over and over and over and cry my lil sensitive heart out. I love how he pokes his butt with his fork to make sure he's not dreaming, lol 😂
The scenery in Dreamland is impressive for its time! Did they use real scenery mixed with drawings? That's it? Amazing.

It doesn’t matter how many times I watch this. It’s always magical! ❤
Beautiful and appealing to people generosity and sense of humanity and mercy to help others.
I'm 30 years old, I was watching and I'm 7 years old. Those years passed quickly☹️
38y old, grew up with this on a VHS tape that my sis & I watched over and over... may have been one my mom taped from tv specials. It used to make me so sad even as a child... and now as an adult, it hits on so many different levels. :(
2:53 "Aww that's alright, I was only fooling" 🥺
I remembered Somewhere in Dreamland back then. These 2 little kids are cute and poor, but I can't give them any names as they've been nameless. I feel bad for them in the beginning and I fell happy for them in the end. I'll watch it in Christmas every year. 🎄 🎁✨️🧸✨️🎉😊
I first watched this in the 80s and now in 2022 I'm watching with my oldest son, why? So he can see that some people really don't have much. He knows but this is a good reminder. We'll watch Christmas comes but once a year next.
Que maravilha de desenho adorei que tempos maravilhosos que não voltam mais 😢

My brother and I used to watch these cartoons and they have never gotten old. My mother worked very hard we were poor. Father wasn't in the picture. So their would be times of nothing for Christmas, not even a tree. We would pretend we got gifts. We would go without food sometimes so what we would do is space it out eat one day and go without the next or so day. Sometimes I was so hungry my brother would distract me with stories. I have never taken anything for granted in my life since. ❤
😢 I had learn how to appreciate what i have. I didnt always have everything i wanted growing up. But as a 50 year woman watching this again so many years later really makes me appreciate my mom in a better way. She did and still so much for her❤ chilfren/grandchildren. Both my parents worked hard to provide for us kids, and im forever grateful.
I saw it on a MeTV Christmas special with Toon In with Me hosts Bill and Toony last night, but I don't remember much about it.

I was watching that too; couldn't believe when I saw it again after all these years. I had the TV on in the background not watching it, and didn't even notice until the little boy said, "I'm going to dunk!" I immediately recognized it and thought "holy shit it's that cartoon!!"

Same. That was the first time I had seen it since I was a little kid on an old VHS tape of Christmas cartoons. This is a sad reminder of life during the Depression, and how kind those shop owners are.
And I still sing it to my daughter before she goes to sleep
OMG See what appeared in the recommended videos. The last time I saw this cartoon was 24 years ago, I thought to a certain extent that this cartoon had never actually existed and that I had dreamed of it. What great memories :)
Oh, what a wonderful story about helping the poor and bringing happiness to their hearts. I was poor when I was young, and I lived through these harsh conditions, hunger and cold, and no one remembered us. It is good that there are good people who bring happiness to the little hearts of children.يا
Since the Baker was the one who mainly came up with the idea, and knew where the children live, I’m sure he offered the children’s mother a job in the bakery, such as probably being his right hand person.
