Leaving Home | A Tragicomedy
The time has come that a young adult man has to leave his parental home and stand on his own two feet, or so his father believes. One thing I learned from this shortfilm, it’s not the place that’s home, it’s the person who makes you feel home. In his case, his mother was his home.

My Theory is, the son never learned how to do anything by himself. He always relied on the mother to do stuff for him and she would ways give in (Which is why he always made the mom spread the jelly, not even the simplest things he was capable of doing). The dad throws him out to teach him a life lesson so he can learn how to FINALLY make it on his own instead of waiting/relying on people to do things for him. Him not being able to leave the house is basically a sign of him not being able to grow up and finally mature for his age. When the mom dies you see he doesnt even know how to tie a tie on his own. Unlike the mom, the dad is not soft and is genuinley focused on trying to help his child. After the funeral the kid is seen again staring at the jelly and bread but not like last time, he is seen actually using his brain and doing it on his own. The dad notices this and hands him his stuff. But this time very emotional knowing his kid is FINALLY grown up. After he sends him off, he waits. He waits for his "little boy" to come back. Though he isnt regretting letting him go he is having a hard time knowing he will never really have his "little boy" back again.

As someone who has recently come to understand that I must learn to support myself, this hit deep. My mom passed away in 2016…at the time I’d always gotten used to being told what to do instead of getting to decide things for myself. I’ve been stuck in this mentality for years even since then because my life has basically been on hold since I couldn’t move past my mom’s death. This wasn’t solely the doing of my mom - my dad also contributed heavily. Growing up is taking responsibility for yourself and your life and it can happen at any age. When you stop thinking of life as something that happens to you and you realize you’re the one that happens to life then you’re ready ❤

Wow can't stop my tears i feel so emotional 😭 i never used to understand comments of people crying or feeling emotional easily over an small video but something has recently happened in my life that makes this video so relatable. It's the tough relationship to understand my dad, i love my dad so much but because of our differences we both don't sync like he does with my siblings.. sometimes i think, i am a burden because i am 25 and haven't figured out my life yet and on the other side there is my mother who also wants what my dad wants, to make my own identity but still she is so loving she is so there in the present for me.. omg It's midnight and i am crying i am hurt. I wanna hug all the adults who are still not where they wanna be or should be and think they're disappointment to their family. This video is so touching 😢 maybe the artist also had the same phase and made this out of real situation.. i hope 2024 is your year! And please always love your parents pls pls dad's concern may seem hurtful and rude but all they want is best for us and moms are truly what's beautiful about life. I hope i make you proud mamu buwa i love you so much thank you for having me even i have nothing to give you in return for now 😭

I believe this story sheds light on those who try to move out but do not have a clue how to be independent. They have pressures from their parents to leave when they turn of age. They go out into the world and try so hard to succeed, but every attempt, they end up back at home. You have to teach the child the skills to think independent before letting them leave home.

It's not about the value of people it's about children being independent and leaving home which obviously changes the status of that home. Parents want independence for their children mostly fathers push children to independence. It is good for the children but it leaves a gap at home filled with loneliness whether the family is composed of both father and mother or just one of them.

I am right now visiting them and they don't want me to leave. Ironic. This is a real story.

In my opinion, the father wants the boy to be independent, so whenever the boy depends on her mother, the father let him leave. But the boy is not yet ready to be independent, so he keeps on coming back to their home. And when the mother died, the father taught his boy to be independent and when he saw that the boy could stand on his own, he let him leave again. And when the boy didnt come back, that means he is now an independent man.

I lost my dad when I was 7 years old. It was me my 2 sisters and my mom. Mom always was working to keep a roof over our head. I was a problem and bad teenager running the streets and going to jail a lot. I think she could not wait for me to leave. I am 43 and have been a good law abiding citizen for almost 25 years now, my sisters have left the house also and even with my mom being remarried (step dad has no kids) after all these years she finally told me that she wishes at least one of us would move back home.... man that shit made me cry when I heard it.. Then she also told me in a real scratchy sad voice "I just need my family around me" I had to hold my tears when she told me that... but as I am writing this my eyes are like 2 rivers... My point is never assume you know what your parents especially mom is thinking... they just might surprise you...

I began to Become more and More Sad that I slit my wrist with pieces of glass. I would Not cuddle with my dad and my sister cause I didn’t feel comfortable. I am uneasy in school due to gazing off and asking for help. In 1-2nd Grade in art , The class was surrounding the small table around me asking how my mom died. I didn’t know how to respond so I started crying, I have Breakdowns when someone mentions my mom and I got Pissed when A Redheaded Boy Made Fun of me for not having a Mom. I had the urge to beat him up but I refused. he even told his friend that I argued, What an ass! I wanted to Say “Go to Hell “ but I didn’t. Just always know life gets better. And I quote to her “ You gave Me Life , Everything is going to fine with or without you. Have a Good Life in Heaven. I’ll visit your grave a lot , I promise.”

@@hannahbeck6965 Well said and God bless your mom and her soul. A mother's love never dies even when we have to lay them to rest. Believe me she loves you still. And yes when we are little kids we say the dumbest stuff. When I was in third grade this kid that I knew pretty well named Max got into with me and we were going back and forth and then he ended it by saying something like "that's why you have a big fat dead daddy" of course my dad was regular size but he threw the fat part to be an ass. I immediately broke down and just cried my little eyes out, the teacher heard it and of course scolded him but the damage was done. Those words did hurt me and I felt like I was less of a boy for not having a dad and it took me many years to understand a little more about life. I have 4 kids and I could never leave or not provide for these little guys. I have now outlived my dad by 5 years as he died when he was 38 and I am 43. I feels weird but as must I repeat I must push on as should you my friend. When we finally get laid to rest we will visit our loved ones and ancestors in the afterlife... that is what is important. I wish you the best and be proud of who you are inside and be a kind person to fellow man and woman and you will be a great person...

this is a very touching but at the same time a slightly unnerving cartoon. I also have a pretty deep connection to my parents (but not too deep for it to become a separation problem somewhen in the future, at least, I believe and hope so) so I can understand the parents’ and the child’s feelings and their reluctance to part ways very well. however, no matter how emotionally hard this entrance into adulthood can be, it is a necessity. you won’t become your own person without accomplishing this very first step of your own journey. in the end, the main character was able to enter his adult life, so, perhaps it will get easier for him in the future and he will build a new relationship with his dad - with both of them being independent adults who nonetheless care about each other.

Don't take the love you get for granted but don't rely solely on the people who give you this love as you never know what happens. Teach yourself how to be independent. This is the message behind the video. But personally I would like to say that it is extremely complicated to make such people do something when all their life they were cared of catered for and never had to think of anything and there was no reason for them to be independent and now they experience something that borders on with a panick attack and depression when they have to do something on their own
