Welcome back to Crying In My Car, a podcast for teachers! Join our hosts Devin Siebold and James Yon as they share their exciting summer plans that may just involve them reprising one of their classic roles. Have you guys heard about the newest controversy over the Olympics being held in Paris? We got the inside scoop and were going to be breaking it down for you today.
So it's about that time, summer is coming up, and we are counting down the days until school is out. We have some big plans, a lot of trips we want to go on, we’re even thinking about reprising our roles from Big Time RV. If you haven't seen Big Time RV, then where have you been? We made an appearance on that show a couple years ago, and it was funny because the editors made some… interesting choices.
Did you know that apparently the Olympics are held at impoverished places on purpose? Well apparently it's being done because of the low cost of hosting it there and despite the billions of dollars being spent on stadiums, there is no money going into the schools to give basic facilities for students. What's being done about this? What can we do? Tune in to find out!

The exact baby conundrum happened to me. I was pregnant and not showing very much and I interviewed for a job. The principal and vice principal liked me enough to send me for my final interview with the superintendent. I told him that I was pregnant because I wanted my sick days to carryover because in Maine, FMLA doesn’t kick in until you worked there for a year so the only way I could get a paid maternity leave was using sick days. They did end up hiring me and I still work there.

Hell no to giving me a gun in the classroom! I’m with Devin that I wouldn’t trust myself or others to keep that out of the kids hand. To James, The first question that guns are going to be in the classroom, “where are they located?” That means every person who watches that news story will know where they are, no safety at all. Taking some summer classes myself❤

The only people that have to know is the principle, the superintendent and maybe a few other people. My school has staff that carry and we're completely safe

@@DonaldHendricks couple questions: 1. What state are you in? 2. Are parents aware? 3. If parents are aware I would think they would ask where they are kept? Otherwise that’s fine, people who want to carry should

41:57 Absolutely hide it. They won’t hire you if you tell the truth. James: she’s still a good teacher even if she has to take off the first 3 months.

I tried to post another comment and it didn’t show up. Absolutely teachers should have g-. I’m not going to be a sitting duck if someone came into the classroom with one. Where would it be? Hidden where I could reach it easily but no one would know. How would I feel if my kids’ teachers had them? I would feel so happy and protected that someone could defend my kid if something were to happen.

Conceal carry is usually hidden ON the person. I wouldn't want to but I don't think it should be FORCED....it should be an option and training a MUST!

@@mykhiddos2 Totally agree. It would be on me but so well hidden that no one would know. I agree with the other two things you said. No one should be forced and the ones who do it should be trained.

My local school as staff that conceal carry. We don't know who they are but everyone is safe plus The bill that Greg Abbott signed as nothing to do with fear. It's that that kind of attire on a man isn't appropriate around kids.
