2:16 this is actually an understated strength of this 'army', it baits enemies into fighting massively disadvantageous battles, meaning you have free pseudo lightning strike, sort-of.

Skip to 7:40 to see when Legend stops trying to play fair and just fucks them up. Other Trickster's Shard is lowkey one of the best items in the game.

I am 99% sure that the Other Trickster's Shard and similar resistance-lowering effects only work on units that already have resistances. It doesn't give them negative resistance (unlike weakness to fire). There _is_ a limit in the tables that says the lowest values resistances can reach is -100, but I feel like that gets overwritten by something else.

@@otwk so afaik in battle debuffs like the other tricksters shard can reduce enemies below 0% but campaign level debuffs like one of the beastmen items that reduce enemy magic resistance in the local area by 20% can only bring them down to 0% and not below

@@pureblackhaze Sounds plausible Though how does Wurrzag work then? I know that he also removes all magic resistance that is given in-battle by abilities (granted, that's a slightly different thing, but if he can affect battles, then I'm wondering why there would be a difference)

@@kaischwarz6590 Where to start? Malegor gets such cheap magic that even without the Sword of Khaine and even without being fully leveled he's worth at least a whole stack of units. And early access to flying gives you a huge strategic advantage. The only thing he really struggles with is lots of single entity units so you can just build his stack around that if you aren't building a one-man memestack.

@@Avengedtenfold How is that broken? It's all within rules and capability of a lot of lords and the rest of the game. It also doesn't hinder your further enjoyment of the campaign. Also broken implies a need to be repaired/nerfed, which is not the case since the campaign is single player content (ignoring both guys that play koop/head to head).

@@kaischwarz6590 ​A lot of lords? Vampires are at least balanced by high winds of magic cost for their infantry munching spell. The other lord comparisons you can make are Teclis, Gelt and maybe Morathi? But they all have to wait to start flying, not to mention none of them buffs the rest of the faction like Malegor does. Broken does not imply that at all in gaming lexicon. It can just mean that something is noticeably stronger than everything else on offer. The pistol in Halo 1 is broken but also beloved, even with a multiplayer aspect it became one of the more fondly remembered weapons in the series. But yes, calling Malegor an overperformer is probably more accurate. None of this is achieved through bugs or exploits, save the general ways to abuse the AI to get off stronger spells. So I agree that it doesn't need nerfed...for now. I'm sure I'd feel different if the beastmen AI Malegor was capable of leveling up competently or surviving at all. Imagine an AI spamming no cooldown 2 cost flock of dooms.

The only bad thing about the beastmen now is the sheer amount of peace treaties you have to reject constantly every single end turn.

Why I love Morathi and Balthasar

I was only going to play Taurox and don't buy the old Beastmen DLC. Malagor by himself makes me question that decision.

I'm thinking the exact same thing. But, I think I'll wait till there's another sale. Warhammer has been eating through my wallet with all the sales they've been doing.

Malagor drinks fight milk every morning so he can fight like a crow.

The goat from "Goat Simulator" clearly has been through and seen a lot of horrors to evolve into this momstrous goat

I like how he went to go show the no upkeep and forgot that the army was just Malagor.

The Other Trickster's Shard has always been one of the best items in the game. One of the Dwarf's main racial traits - magic resistance - is almost entirely offset by it and it is insane in the hands of any strong spellcaster or wielder of magical weapons.

Hey how about creating a doom stack, just to bait the enemy into make 4 stacks. And then as soon as you'll attack them you delete your entire army ?

Ahhhh, this takes me back to the good old Shadow of the Horned Rat days, when Flock of Doom decimated entire armies on its own. The game had two parts - Before FoD, which was a tough real time tactics game, and After FoD, which was a fun laugh...

Worth pointing out that AI Helm of Khaine Teclis on Arcane Phoenix literally cannot happen, because Teclis gets his unique armor before the phoenix mount, and the AI doesn't replace unique items unless it's another unique item (So pretty much the only possible option is Teclis replacing his sword with the SoK)

I don't think I've ever seen an elite Dark Elf force annihilated that quickly before.

From the time he actually engages in melee, and starts blasting, until the army losses is inflicted, is literally 3 minutes and 13 seconds. For one unit to wreck two full stacks. Other 14 minutes is just Legend chatting and flying around.

I mean malagor is know to do such dark rituals that other bray shamans would never do such as power of cheese lord

I was playing a Taurox campaign the other day and when Taurox snagged the Sword of Khaine I was like "Negative public order? Negative relations? For this? Worth." You're already declaring war on everyone in the Bloodgrounds and just ripping through regions like nobody's business so it's just really nice to have.

You could do this, have full gorgon/cygor/minotaur army so 4 armys Will fight you. Then retreat then all, so its only malagor and the army losses Will trigger later

This is genuinely scary, fighting those armies with a high elf army would be tough but Malagor killed them all without breaking a sweat!

there is only one way to find out. you need to coop a mortal empires campaign. where you play Malagor vs someone who would play Teclis and just duel it between each other 1v1 and the one who wins will be the more powerful doomstack. would make for a hell of a stream.

You have to use bait armies to test one man doomstacks. No matter how strong it is, the AI will never send much at it. Put 1 or 2 strong armies in front of your one man doomstack, near some strong enemy armies. Theyll send all of their nearby armies to attack your armies, you retreat, and then they'll probably attack your one man doomstack instead. If not, as long as you ran out their movement range, you should be able to attack them the next turn. It's a pain in the ass. I spent 70 turns looking for a decent fight for grombrindal when I made him a one man doomstack.

I tried out the brass bull earlier today and I have given him a new nickname. With his charge animation it looks like he does the Kano Ball move from MK.. So I called him The Rage Kano Ball.

that's some good goat cheese.

I think that this is the best one man doomstack so far. It is really strong, kills everything really fast and looks really fun.

This is like a remake of Hitchcock's The Birds, except they're all caused by a flying cow.

His dive bomb into enemy units is probably the most satisfying thing about him

The best lord for the Any% speedrun is probably still Cylostra Direfan.

The beastman is such a fun faction now, and of course a little bit of cheesy with SoK!
