I'm really hoping that they really exaggerate on how much damage and change an elder dragon does to its surroundings. I want to experience large trails left by an elder dragon crossing, or how the ecosystem is suddenly disrupted and monsters of all sizes making a stampede to flee from impending dangers. It would also be great if the wilds map would have several villages scattered around and we would have specific quests to help satisfy their needs as side quests. Not something forced but as an option to help save or develop the villages further like in the MH older games.

I have a feeling MH devs are really going to expand on pretty much all of the features mentioned here in some way. Really hoping there's some kind of dynamic weather that can change how you interact with the environment on a whim. Would be a lot of fun to have to adapt to how things change, possibly making your battles easier or harder depending on what monster you're hunting at the time. This game coming out on next gen only will mean they'll have a lot less limitations so I'm really looking forward to what they've dreamed up for us.

ngl, will love to see if weathers affect a weapon element, for example, this monster resistance to thunder, but once the weather start raining or there is anything that make the monster wet, it will make the monster weak to thunder(probably make it about 1-2 stars of weakness to make it balance so people still have to use the element that the monster originally weak to to get the highest damage) but at the same time other element such as fire,... become weaker as the monster wet. It will make that even you use the wrong weapon for the wrong monster, you still have a chance to fight them. ( bad english)

I think any concept from dos is probably too hardcore for the direction they are going now. No way that they make it impossible to gather honey during winter, or at least if they do you know there will be some way to farm/trade for it. At the absolute most I could maybe see them doing seasonal monsters where some won't appear in certain times of year, but even then I can easily see the newer player base complaining about being unable to grind x monster cause it isn't available right at that second. I don't know, I think a lot of problems with those hardcore systems could be solved by making the game as a whole less grindy. Maybe instead of needing 10 talons, 6 webbing, a ruby and two plates, the same weapon could be half that. 5 talons 3 webbing one ruby. I feel like that would mesh well with a slower paced system encouraging more exploration and variety.

The world's troubles and targets shouldn't be restricted to land-only, and from what I heard down the grapevine, Lagiacrus (?) was supposed to make it to MHW: IB but was scrapped at the last stages of development out of hindsight for its usual tendencies for underwater biome warfare. I hope they bring underwater back for Wilds. There are a lot of monsters I want to scrap from there and master the combat style in a more QoL setting like MHW did for the series.

I think Monster Hunter can benefit from "Medium" monsters. Our first taste of something like this was Seltas during the Seltas Queen fights from MHGU. Its not the quest objective, but gets in the way. Seltas's problem for this role is that its too big / meaty for what im thinking. It was essentially a Large-Small monster. I think having monsters that are bigger than small (ones that usually die in a few hits), to include monsters that take quite a few hits, are more threatening and should not be ignored, take at least 10+ hits to down, should not have more than 3 alongside the large quest monster. It causes the hunting party to highly consider taking some down to make the fight much easier, but not too much of an annoyance.

Wilds needs to expand on what makes monster hunter work without detracting from the gameplay loop. As a veteran hunter who started with FU, the "hunt" before the hunt is usually what most players think makes this series special. Before farms that showered you with resources and palico resource generation you had to go out and manually gather materials to be successful on the next hunt. Honey, mushrooms, toadstools, stones and fire herbs for gunpowder, chill shrooms, everything mattered. You weren't given these materials you needed to physically go out of your way to collect them. I think if wilds is to have this huge expansive open world environment, they need to double down on the resource management and small monster interaction. Don't know if that's going to sit well with the gamers with low attention spans though.

it's 100% feel way more rewarded when you have to farm stuffs before doing a hunt. But at the same time, when you play long enough, it's become more of an annoying than fun, some players just want to get in the quest and do the hunt right away instead have to spent 10-20 minutes to gathering materials and then when they start the hunt, they realized they forgot something, it feel very frustrating and yea, like the guy above me say, some players like me don't have enough time to even finish at least 2 hunt. Newer games have more mechanics, loots to farm..... combine with that, idk how many players will review bomb the game even it's good and balanced.

Man I can't wait for this game! I do however think there is always a bit of a tightrope between interesting and annoying. Like the small monsters for example, yes it might make sense for the more cunning or agressive small monsters to be oppertunists and attack you in the back while you are fighting a big one. But holy crap was it annoying to get paralyzed by a vespoid or get hit again by a bullfango or rhenopolos. Also enviorments dynamically changing and having seasons sounds awesome, but I don't know how I feel about them locking you out of certain areas. Could be another annoyance factor if it locks you out of gathering certain materials you might need, you might even restart a mission/gathering quest to get the season/circumstances you want. I also sincerely hope they don't do the whole you need to see the cutscene first before others can join you crap. Wanted to play Worlds/Iceborne with some friends and it was super annoying that all of us had to go into the quest, trigger the cutscene, leave and then join each other for each new monster. Also the amount of grinding you need to do in the guiding lands was ridiculous and really burnt me out of the game, it was kinda cool being able to level up certain areas by hunting in them so eventually you can make better resources and stronger monsters appear there. But I don't get why you couldn't level up each area to max level, no you could only have 3 area's max level. So not only did you have to do an insane amount of grinding to max out an area but you also had to undo all the work you put into another area.

I truly hope they release more in depth content to show off just more to this. The only game that practically let's you hunt without the need to return to your base camp was Wild Hearts. I hope this does that on an even grander scale. Where you dont need to go back unless it's for weapon upgrades and some item purchases or any given quest that may be urgent.

@@ashleylongley1628 I like the ability to grapple monsters and smash them to walls. While many of you may dislike clutch claw I find it to be quite a cool mechanic especially since I'm a Lance user. With its ability to clutch counter I find Lance is super useful and clutch claw is rather nice in how I'm able to utilize it. I've played MHR and while it's good, I don't like the wire bug mechanic in the game which trivializes monsters but the clutch claw doesn't have full monster control like the bugs do.

@HandsomeAndBrilliant the main reason so many people dislike the crutch claw is because how INTEGRAL it became in iceborne. Tenderizing parts became a necessity and it was easy to abuse wallbangs. A perfect set up could result in 3 wallbangs immediately for downright ridiculous damage. In my opinion the slinger was a far more interesting tool that not only rewarded you for being aware of your environment but opened up opportunities to stun monsters with environmental hazards so arena awareness was more important. Not only that but it was further improved in iceborne by adding new combos for each weapon to further interact with Ex: sword and shield shrapnel blast, great charge skip, and gunlance WSB. If clutch claw were to return I'd want it HEAVILY nerfed because it is still downright OP not irredeemable broken like the wirebug system but broken enough to be worthy of change to a more balanced state.

When he said bigger maps i just realised something. Bigger map = bigger room Bigger room = bigger player slots. Meaning. Since mh isn't new to making players make their own online sessions. We might just see 10 or 20 hunters in a single map on a single online session. So when another player sends an sos flare its not just posted on the hunting board the players can literally see the flare up in the sky. And not only that if it truly is a real open world with no loading screens (maybe except for fast travel if there is). you could post a hunt in the hunting board and a monster on the feild will spawn real time after you've entered the hunting area. Maybe you can even interact with hunter npc's that are already hunting monsters and help them. Npc's can fight, They did it with your first fight with fatalis in mhw and there's the rampage in rise where you can summon them. why not here? And it would be cool if monsters and indemic life could interact with the environement. Like urzuros could cut down a beehive and you wouldn't be able to harvest it. Or a giginox overpopulating a cave with its babies so no life could thrive in it except them and it effects the quest board prompting you on an emergency quest. And lets be honest the game wont come out in its full complete glory just like every other mh game. The Mh team is like a good parent it listens to the community and they do what they can do. Just like how fatalis in mhw wasn't actually supposed to be added but the community loved the anniversary poster so much that they included him in. Or when rise came out incomplete they made the first decent boss fight in rise (narwa) memorable (danger donut rings). Point is they will let the game grow by itself. Because as a developer you dont want to look at your project as done. You want to view it as a reference for improvement. So all i'm saying is. What i said could be added in the game. Just maybe in a future update/title. Not facts. Just my assumptions... Would be cool tho.

I think it’s about time for a MH Ride On type game. Of course it would have to be single player, but it could still be interesting nonetheless. Create your character. Pick from a beginning monster type. Go on hunting mission to help raise your monster. Reach threshold. Tame bigger monsters. Either use bigger monster or take two smaller monster types with you. Give formation commands and orders. Fight alongside your monsters. Single monster could be set to draw aggro, pepper them with small attacks, pin monsters, or build up their huge attacks. Duo monsters can be set to pincer attack, combo pin and finisher moves, go blitz, or juggle aggro. You’d still be hunting of course, but instead of other players, you’re hunting with monsters. Monsters can also be used for homebase tasks such as helping with farming, helping with building new structures etc etc. If there has to be a multiplayer aspect. Think Dragon’s Dogma. You can send extra pets out to train with other hunters. Think Animal Crossing. You can bring pack monsters to trade with other players in their hub or help them with their base tasks for building speedups. Perhaps you send your monster out hunting alone and it shows up in another player’s game to help for a couple minutes. Not mobile based. Actual mainline MH type gameplay, only with monsters. Of course your monsters won’t be on par with the regular monsters, but you could customize them. Equipment and developing special attacks based on the monster you stole its eggs from. Monster known for tailwhips? Instead of standard, train it to do chain tailwhips that do less damage each, but build up damage. Don’t want that? Turn the tailwhip into a charged tailwhip with increased stagger and knockdown potential. Just simple ideas, but it would be a fun game if they did it right. Lore explanation? Monsters raised by hunters don’t develop at as high a rate as monsters in the wild, but are malleable through training to make up for the deficiency.

I'd be seriously down for bigger maps, maybe even just one big open world map where you can fast travel between major regions/villages/outposts (though I'd rather just bigger maps, but wouldn't be opposed to them attempting an "open world" MH game). I think the PS4 and Xbox One were serious limiters in a lot of World and Iceborne's ideas since the consoles were not powerful enough. I still think the PS5 and Series X/S will be a limiter as well, but not nearly as severe of one as the last generation of consoles were.

As someone who came into the Monster Hunter series through World, it's nice to see them not abandoning the story that World put forth and the feel that World had. Personally, I think that doing everything within gameplay limitations to give us a fantastic yet grounded hunt and environment should be top priority. Whilst tracking the monster in World seems to be the most fleshed out compared to other games, I think it should go hand in hand with patience. Waiting for a specific time or in a specific place for a monster to arrive I think can aid in that overall feel. On top of this, timing should be everything - you wouldn't want to engage a monster with other monsters around so I think adding something like mating pairs would be interesting. Say for example you are hunting Rathian but a Rathalos is in the area as well, the two will spend a lot of time together and whilst choosing to hunt them whilst together can lead to twice the rewards, it's also twice the annoyance so - you'll have to practice patience and wait for either to wander away from the other. I'm excited to see what new behaviors and mechanics Wilds brings to build upon what World had given us.

I'm glad capcom is taking the player feedback into consideration here. The main gripe the community had with rise was the lack of wildlife interaction, while the main selling point world had was the unique traits each monster (both small and large) possessed and how said traits affected the way they interacted with the environment and each other. So seeing wilds be focus almost purely on monster behavior is exciting, especially seeing how very few games have ever even attempted to create a somewhat believable environment.

My theory is that they may actually be doing something that Zelda did years ago, and make the game closer to an open world style hunting game. Though if this conclusion is the true one, a lot of things will have to be assumed: 1. Towns are part of the hunting map and can be visited or departed at will with or without taking quests 2. Quests will come from hunting boards as you pass through towns or receive them from caravanning NPCs 3. Monsters and the Hunter can freely make their own camps for resting, cooking, taking stock etc. 4. The free-crafting mechanics of world and Rise will be more used than ever 5. Forging gear would only take place in towns and you would have to either travel there or use a fast travel mechanic to do so (maybe the bird-dog can fly you there or it does a cutsequence) 6. More than 3 monsters can easily be aggro'd at a time, which would mean massive turf wars and brawls between monsters and hunter alike. 7. Multiplayer's formula would change just as drastically. Playing in singleplayer would mean a world to yourself, or multiplayer might mean inviting someone to your massive world, or it may even be semi-mmo like Diablo 4. Just calling it Wilds already makes the thought of "Breath of the Wild" come to mind, so it's not impossible, but I'll admit while I'd love to see this kind of game come to fruition with Monster Hunter, it's a huge shot in the dark to think that Capcom is ready to make MH take such an innovative leap. But then again we've seen them push the boundaries of MH a number of times each more breathtaking than the last. World's ecosystems were phenomenal and the maneuverability of Rise is something that can't be denied as one of the best ranges of mobility we've ever had in a MH game. That's not even to mention that every game in the franchise has it's own little gimmick that makes it stand out from the rest.. Who's to say Wilds won't really be the first true open-world MH core game.

as amazing as one big map would be… i’d really miss the seperate maps, too. the seperate locales in world made them feel so much bigger than if we were given to us all at once in one big package. and it also made the world itself feel so much bigger because you have to soar long distances to get from one place to the other. and lastly, i just don’t think that ONE map could hold all of the creativity that goes into these games. you could make the guiding lands 5x bigger and it would still feel… off. because nature doesn’t just flip flop like that. i just think the seperate locales allows for better expression for each. however… i would absolutely love to be proved wrong. i would love to see a massive open map that feels as real as world did. and realistically, they likely are. this franchise isn’t built on micro transactions; it’s built on innovation. which is why i’d cancel a wedding to play this game on launch day
