Something's Missing from the Eucharistic Revival
The Catholic Church has been emphasizing faith in the Eucharist over the past few years as a part of the Eucharistic Revival. Everything so far has been good... it's just been incomplete.

Excellent video. The Eucharist is not a "thing" to be worshipped but a source of life to be received, broken, shared and given to others.

@tlamin that's the importance protestant churches lack, it's the presence of Jesus Christ himself within the tabernacle & within the Eucharist. Any catholic that still thinks the Eucharist is symbolic instead of reality needs to pray to be filled with The Blessed Mothers limitless faith & Jesus Infinite love

Whenever I receive, I say a private prayer asking God to transform me into what I am consuming.
What’s needed for this revival is a deep study into the theology, history, philosophy and customary/cultural practices of the Eucharist. Guides should be written and study groups/classes should be organized on this as well. I converted 42 years ago from the Lutheran Church and intense, deep study on the Eucharist was a requirement for all preparing for Confirmation (First Communion) in that denomination.

Some Catholics (and others) might understand the eucharist by watching the 7 minute film titled "The Veil Removed". It's on the internet. It is powerful. Sometimes a visual (an emotion) helps more than words (intellect). Put them both together and it's even more powerful!

When I was a kid, the Catholic Church in town was pretty much always open during the day for Eucharistic adoration. Nowadays, at least in the big city, it seems every church is locked and adoration must be scheduled. One would think that after the archbishop lifted the increased rules from the great sickness, that they would open back up. If I was a retiree or unemployed, I'd have the ability to participate but alas, it's not a possibility for me.

Does anyone remember the alms box and when and why it disappeared? Same thing. Security. We still have an open church. We lost real candles to a person who was later committed. It was the archdiocesan insurance that dictated that. Likely your case.

@@sydneymcconnaughhay5947 the frustrating thing for me is that the advice that I keep getting about discerning converting to Catholicism is to spend time in adoration. @ignatiusjackson235

@@Aaryq More importantly than Eucharistic Adoration, I suggest that you attend the Mass (abstaining from the Eucharist, of course, until you have fully converted), front to back. Study the words, understand what they mean. Observe all that is happening in front of you. Realize that it's not simply a community gathering, but a transformative experience. From the prayer of penance to the liturgy of the Word (including Old Testament prophecies, New Testament epistles, and Gospel readings); from the profession of faith in the Nicene Creed to the most important part - the liturgy of the Eucharist, the true substantive offering of Christ's Body and Blood for our sins on the alter. Study the Mass. Do so week after week. If you have any questions, take note of them and ask the priest afterwards. He should be glad to help you in your journey. As great as Eucharistic Adoration can be, it couldn't happen without the Mass itself. Even if it's not performed very well, if the homily isn't all that it should be, if the cantor sings out of tune, it's the full Mass that results in the Eucharist in the first place. Every phrase we utter in the Mass has a history and a purpose. May God bless you on your journey, and may He share entirely in your life's purpose as you do so in His. I have faith in you, brother. God bless!

Hiding the tabernacle in a little side chapel somewhere in the church does not support our understanding of the True Presence, yet so many parishes do that. It is not just words that instruct us, our Catholic architecture also instructs us. ❤

Yesterday, I was at a talk about the Mass, and the speaker started to go on the point of transubstantiation. I get it, maybe somebody there needed to hear it, but I wondered for those of us who already believe, isn't there something more we could hear? This video is the answer to my thoughts. Thank you, Fr. Casey
Friar Casey, during one Sunday mass in 2007, I was wondering what should happen to the Eucharist when it was raining and the church was "overly populated" so some had to sit outside under roofings made by the church. I sat outside the church since it was overly crowded and I was like "God, the rain is going to soak the host wet, what would you do? Will you let the deacons get wet too? " And before the deacons delivered the Eucharist... There was a strong wind blowing and the rain ceased... And after every single one church goers had their host and children got the blessings through the hands of the priest, another strong wind blew and the rain resumed... Even though it was like a coincidence, I can only say "God, You're cheating" haha...

It may seem like someone was chatting inside the church and it may sometimes feel like it's completely nothing... But still it has meaningful advice.. The Lord is surely great

Thank you, Father Casey, for this talk delving deep into the significance of the Eucharist. Despite knowing that I am supposed to believe that the Eucharist is the body and blood of our Lord, I have a hard time seeing it as anything more than a symbol. It has always been a struggle for me, as I am am sure it is for many Catholics, to see past the elegant ceremonial aspects of the Eucharistic celebration, and to view it as something far more transcendent. Your commentary is a small stepping stone on my way to a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Eucharist. For that, I am grateful.

when I became Catholic in college, the Eucharist and believing fully in the doctrine of transubstantiation was one of my biggest draws. now, despite my struggles sometimes, I remain Catholic because of the Eucharist. nowhere else than at communing at Mass do I receive such life for my soul to manage the slings and arrows of this life, and I find myself unable and unwilling to give that up. Father, everything you say is correct. There is certainly a greater problem in our American Church that poor teaching of the Real Presence. We absolutely need to come what we receive to make a greater missionary impact in our communities. But the problem is, and you probably realize this, is that the grand majority of Catholics have no idea what they have. It’s so true that you can’t give what you don’t have, and this is so true of the faithful today. We can’t expect people to understand something they’ve never been taught or encountered. Why does the beauty and truth of our faith feel like this very well kept secret?? I think this great endeavor to understand the real presence is at least a starting point. Expecting people to go out and bring Jesus to their communities isn’t going to happen unless the fire, and I mean a fire, is first lit within the folks who are regularly coming to Mass.
Excellent. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Excellent video brother, beautifully put!!! If the nature of Who HE is isn't sinking in to be the root of the way we do it, is JESUS our King at all? Well said! I know by respect it's father, also a protestant and call all brother or sister, we are one family, Big C or little, and it's a blessing to join at HIS Table. Keep at it!!
Happy new years

Wonderful,Fr. Casey! I wish other Catholic apologists-especially those on the same platform (YT) would cross-reference this excellent brief on pushing the “Eucharistic revival” farther-from understanding and adoration, to “becoming what we receive.” By the way Fr. Mike Schmitz’s homily for Epiphany Sunday 2023 resonates with the point you make here; that we cannot go to mass and remain unchanged because “if we truly offer the sacrifice of the mass with the priest and with Jesus himself, we would be different, we would be more like him.”

The Church needs to engage with the people. Sinners as we all are, burdened with our sins and guilt and all the other issues and struggles. I honestly don't know where to start, but the most effective RC church nearby has a long bulletin with lots of information and a weekly calendar. Every week there's a: Young Adult Bible Study YA Sorority meeting One all-day Adoration (morning to 6pm) YA Fraternity Lay Carmelites meeting Pre-mass Rosary (Saturdays) And informally, generally 1 or more additional informal meetups. Last month, for Advent & Christmas, there were like 6 additional opportunities between candlelit masses, adoration, and YA events. This month, there's a parish dinner.
It comes down to talking about the real presence often and clearly

Can you please do a video on the Eucharistic Miracles as well as Catholic apologetics?
I didn't even know exactly what was the eucharist until 2019 when a southern Baptist pastor asked what the catholic church thought about it. I spent so many years in all kind of protestants churches and here and there in catholic church. Completely lost 😂 Then that pastor told me that the catholic church resacrifies Jesus then it sparked something in me to do my research for the first in my life I did a research to understand my church that I had abandoned because I didn't understand. Not only I am so on fire for God, I even pray the 7 sorrows of Mary and there is no man or woman behaviors that will make me leave the church again. I learn everyday and imagine that I even go to confession and did get my 5 years old son baptised last year while I was told to wait. I am glad and happy that God is forgiving. So on fire 🔥
Thank you, Father
Father Casey, can you do a video about wishing people happy heavenly birthday? And or Roadside crosses as memorials.
Thank you, Father, for this excellent video. Eucharistic Revival has been incomplete. Perhaps it needed to begin with confirmation of the Real Presence, but we need to become what we eat. It should be our inspiration for taking Christ's message into the world and helping the poor, the alien, the widow and the orphan.
