‘Something he always said he wouldn’t do’: Douglas Murray lashes Biden on Israel
Author Douglas Murray has lashed President Joe Biden for doing something which he “always said he wouldn’t do” after he told Israel the US would not provide weapons for a Rafah offensive.
US President Joe Biden has urged Israel not to go ahead with such an operation over fears it would exacerbate the humanitarian catastrophe in the Palestinian enclave.
Last week, Biden said the United States would not provide offensive weapons for a Rafah invasion, raising pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“That is a very serious development because a lot of the talk … of the media cycle, particularly in the media, is performative,” Mr Murray told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
“But the really difficult thing here is he actually did something which he always said he wouldn’t do.
“He’s always held himself out as a great ally of Israel in its fight for survival … and here he is, in charge, in the White House, withholding arms.”

I think Murray is right on many points. But I think it's absolutely wrong that in all his comments on Israel that I've seen, Murray never mentions that the Israelis have been terrorizing the Palestinian people in the most primitive way for decades. Both sides in Israel are committing the worst crimes. And both sides must be condemned.

There are many tunnels from Rafah to Egypt. Eypt has known this too for many years and even helped to destroy (some of) them in the past. Ironicly it was 60 minutes Austalia who did a special episode showing the digging and working of some of hosee tunnels from the Egyptian side into Gaza. Ithink that was doneat least 10 years ago. Since then the tunnl technology evolved, there was footage of a car driving in one of them with the brother oof one of the top hummus leaders in the passenger seat. Lierally everything you can imagine has been smuggled in via the tunnels. Out would be mainly people. Of course Israel and the US have known about this too.Rafah is where the last hummus battallions are and hopefully the hostages are still there too. This is why Israel needs to ttake Rafah and desttroy all the tunnels there too. It's very suspicious why O'Biden doesn't want Israel to go into Rafah. Even though the US knows thatIsrael has been setting up new refugee camps and field hospitals with food, medecines etc in other parts of Gaza for the evacuated Gazans.

Part of the problem with saying you’re willing to defend your country is the current state of the government and where it would send troops. There are people who would be very happy to defend their country, but they don’t want to be sent out of the country on some completely unnecessary military “adventure” as they used to call it.

Interestingly I saw a video of the UK interviewing those on the street that were granted asylum in the UK, and they were asked if required would you enlist in the army to defend the country if a war broke out. Every single one of them said no... Didn't have the sense of maybe I should even lie or awareness of how they came across and were quite confident about saying "no" for reasons like "its not my country to fight for". I am not naïve enough to forget selective editing could be happening, but it does speak volumes and every single one who did say "no" and those individuals should be sent to wherever they came from because if you can leach the benefits but cannot give back at a hypothetical time in need, then there is no place for you here. Of course what I am saying makes sense, so would not cross a politicians mind or if it did they wouldn't have the balls to stand behind it.
