Someone's Heartache
Музыка
I hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day. As you might discern from my appearance in this video, I've been pretty lazy lately, but not too lazy to honor the great Charlie Louvin with one of his songs on his birthday. I apologize for the creek sound in this video. Outside seemed like the best place available to shoot the video. The background isn't very scenic, but I figured if I put the back of the camera to the creek, it would cut down on some of the noise. This is one of my favorite solo songs that Charlie recorded and released in 1966, only one year after Ira passed. To hear his amazing vocal and some cool classical guitar work, just search for the original here on KZread. I can't sing it as good as Charlie did, but then neither can anyone else. :-) That thought was liberating enough for me to try it without any practice. I classify this song as a barroom country song. According to a quick Google search, and according to a recording that Jean Shepherd released of this song three years after Charlie's recording (in 1969), Charlie wrote this song. He sure came up with some great lyrics and imagery in this song. After Ira passed, many of Charlie's songs were written by Dallas Frazier, but Charlie wrote a few, and apparently, this is one of them. I hope you enjoyed this song, and I encourage you to check out the original. You'll be glad you did. The lyrics are below:
There comes someone's heartache. She's walking straight to me.
Somebody's cried. A love has died. She's somebody's shattered dream.
If she sould stop at my table, will I be the next to cry?
Would I be smart to hide my heart and let her walk on by?
I see the trace of teardrops, and she wears a haughty smile.
She's hungry for a new love but for just a little while.
But I can't hide my feelings. My loneliness she sees.
Here comes someone's heartache. She's walking straight to me.
She's walking straight to me.

That was so nice. I enjoyed that. The creek running in the background was a nice addition.
Paul, as someone who struggles to tune a radio, I am blow away by your talent to be able to cover this song so beautifully, off-the-couch, in a single take! What a wonderful tribute to one of your great musical influences. Thanks for posting.

Thanks, Noah. I haven't sung any really sad ones in a while, but I enjoyed giving this one a try.
Thanks Paul, very nicely done. There's something about good country (appreciate the Louvins). No need to apologise for the creek noise, it flowed in very well. Our God Bless.

Beautiful rendition of a terribly sad song. You sing the lyrics with such emotion and tenderness that you caused me to need a tissue for my leaking eyes!

Thanks, Heather. I guess it's good to get a good cry in every now and then for a sad song or movie, etc. The ancient philosophers thought so. They called it cathartic. :-)

So sad, but a real pretty song. I love to hear you sing. And, when you and Pap sung together was off-the-charts good! I’ll bet Pap was so proud of his children and grand children’s musical abilities. 💔🙏🏼💔

Paul, That is a sad but beautiful song. You sang it perfectly it touches my heart. I sure have missed you on here. Thank you for another song honoring the masterfully Charlie Louvin. I am so glad you introduced Ira and Charlie into my life. Hopefully, the cd is almost a completed project. I find the creek sound so relaxing to this song. Debbie

Beautiful, Paul! I can't tell you how much (since I heard about them from you) I've listened to the Louvin Bros.. I really like their music! Beautiful picking. If I were conversant in such things, I might do a better job describing it, but the parts where you kind of add your own flourish to the playing. Thank you! 🙌🏼

Very nice slow song. I love the sound of the creek running--it is a soothing sound to me. Glad to to see you again. Hope you are doing well and getting some time off from school before the new year starts. I've been retired from teaching for a few years now, but I still miss the clean halls, fresh bulletin boards, and excited (mostly) children returning to school in the fall. BTW--I also love school supplies, even to this day! Old teachers never change, I guess!
