"no one´s gonna know me like my friends knew me when I was 15" hits harder, cause I´m currently struggeling with the fact that every new friendship I make is so much more work in comparison to the friends I´ve got from way back

i don’t think you should live somewhere because you feel like you have to … same as going to school … do what’s best and feels right for you

This is so beautiful and honest and such a relateable experience - I feel like we're often pushed toward alienating pursuits, and I think for some they can be good, and healing, and encourage growth - but they can also be lonely. As much as our passions make us who we are, people are the reason that we are. Love and human connection are the worthiest of pursuits but I think we're often pushed away from treating them as such. As always, your art is beautiful and makes me feel connected to something good and honest and full. Thank you for your generosity in sharing.

i think as far as friends go, you’ll always have one group that really understands you better than anyone and that group of people will find a way to stay in contact, communicate, and support each other. no matter when in life you find them, there will always be that group and it’s rare to find another one of the same caliber, y’know? like u can find another group, but they won’t know you as well as the ones you really click with. i totally understand it being ur texas friends bc those ones grew with you. for me, it’s the same w my childhood friends; they know all your bad choices and silly mistakes and moments that made u happier than ever. going to college brought me this same dilemma; i didn’t have any of my people going in and i really craved that kind of relationship there and, while i found amazing and lifelong friends, they weren’t the same as my core group; they didn’t get me in the same way.

saw you in st louis and i loved every second. to be honest, i'm still trying to find my way. i'm in high school and knowing that you're on the same kind of "figuring out" is really reassuring. best of luck, and thank you

Honestly, I’ve had a similar experience. I was born and raised in Texas, lived there until about 9 years old. My family and I moved to Colorado and those first few years were tough cause i wasn’t sure if i’d find friends there and i missed my old friends that i grew up with.. Of course it didn’t help that we moved around a lot but we finally settled in a place for the past 6 years and i think i finally found home. I don’t think you should live somewhere you feel forced to be. I mean just look at Tyler and Josh, neither of them moved from their home and look where they’ve made it.

Whatever makes you happy is the path you should go down. Moves that you make for your career and moves that you make for your happiness won’t always align and that sucks, but in those cases choosing happiness is almost always the best way because how are you supposed to enjoy what you do if you know there is somewhere that you could be happier? I wish you only the best ❤️❤️ don’t stress too much.

My best friend and I want to move somewhere that works for us, and I thought about Texas, we thought about Atlanta, or LA. At the end of the day, we don’t really want to go to LA, but we know that most of our friends and most people we could really connect with are in LA. We know it’s the unsafe bet, but we feel like we need to make the choice to move to where we can meet more people that do what we want to do. I think you’ll be successful anywhere, and you’re right, you’ll never have friends like the ones you did growing up. But if art is your thing (like we very well know it is) and you want to make more WITH people that could eventually become good friends with in 11 years, I’d say take the dive. Love ya Pete, We got to see you in person and hopefully one day we could get a Peter McPolaroid with you. Good luck on the rest of your tours ;) We’ll be seeing you again I’m sure.

I find myself in the same position navigating where I want to spend the next 4 years of my life for school. You have had an incredible opportunity to travel the country . No matter where you go, your real friends will always be only a phone call away . Work can be anywhere for you . No matter what you decide, I know you will thrive in whatever environment you are in . I know you have no idea who I am , but there is some random advice from a stranger. And if I might add, on the off chance you would like a fresh start somewhere , Nashville would love to have you !

As someone who grew up in a tiny little town in upstate New York and has had the same friends for 15 years and I’m still friends with them now that I’m 20 and stepping into the industry is that you can never form a friendship that’s going to feel the same as those first friendships but with time it become easier to connect with other people you just have to take that step to reach out and let people know. Leaving my home town is the scariest biggest decision ever but I think leaving is such a big part of personal growth and growing back to visit just soothes the soul and makes you feel so at home

Your comfort and that true sense of home will get u further than anything else. You can’t happily continue what you want if you’re not surrounded in an environment where you feel truly pure. Just like Maslow‘s hierarchy of needs, to reach self actualization you need to go through everything that falls under it.

Your vlogs are so so comforting and nice. It feels like I am there and you are genuinely talking with me instead of talking at me, which is refreshing. I’m in a situation that’s sort of similar to the one you’re in. I’m stuck in GA for the foreseeable future, while most of my friends and family are in MN, and it really sucks. The people I truly want to be with are in my home town in MN but I don’t want to live there my whole life, and I don’t want to live in GA at all, so where do I go? The lucky thing for you is I assume you can live in a lot of different places with the work that you do, but definitely do not go to LA just because you feel like you should. Also, remember you don’t have to make a decision right this second ❤️ Thank you for the vlogs and sharing pieces of your thoughts with us. Like everyone else is saying, follow your heart, it knows what you need

Hey peter just "saw" you in St. Louis and y'all were amazing. unfortunately we only got there for the last 2 songs because we were running a little behind but the energy you put out was incredible. I did end up missing the song I was look forward to the most though that behind Shit Show but the others were great too.

I saw you last night opening for twenty one pilots in STL. You were great. When I was younger I moved away from home. I enjoyed the experience but now I live back in my home state. There is something comforting about living here plus the cost of living is so much cheaper that I can travel more. I love having “home” to come back to. There’s something comforting about it.

Follow your heart-you can’t go wrong that way. Some friends last a lifetime, some are meant only for moments in time….and often you don’t know which is which until after….after you move away, or move back, or drift apart, or come together again. Life’s funny like that.

That was mildly depressing. But I get it. When you can go anywhere, it's impossible to decide. Especially when the people you love are somewhere but that place isn't necessarily one you envisioned yourself being in forever. If it's feasible to keep doing what you love and make a living in Austin, then why not do it??

As a New Yorker I would be biased when saying to stay in New York because of my love for the city (and the crazy theory that there would be a chance of me meeting you and us becoming friends lol). I was born and raised here and I still see myself living here when I move out of my parents apartment (I'm 23 and an online grad student) but as I do get the feeling of wishing you lived by your friends especially your close ones. Two of my closest friends I made in college both live far from me and sometimes I miss living on campus with them where we were all neighbors, but I do have my high school friends here in the city with me, but we're getting older and have our separate lives so we see each other less. I think wanting to live where your friends are is valid, but I also think having that space between your friends is also healthy especially as you get older. If you want to move back to feel more at home and comfortable then by all means go for it, but I think you shouldn't move just because your friends are there. I think there should be multiple reasons why you move back home because there was a reason why you left in the first place. If New York doesn't feel like home and you don't like living here, then move to a place where your heart feels warm. But if you like living in New York I would say stay. I wish I could give advice about making friends in the city but I honestly don't have any. But if you're a social person, maybe you could visit places you've never been before or have been and try to talk to people who look like they're around your age, or you could have a conversation with. Or maybe you could see if there's any events you would be able to attend in your industry and you start from there. My advice is pretty broad but it's the best I can provide. I hope it helps.

Following the same path as everyone else is usually not the way to go. It’s all about finding what you wouldn’t mind doing everyday of your life, then finding a way to make a living from it. About living in LA, I feel the same. We live in Toronto (met you at the TOP show when you got locked out of the venue.) As good as moving to LA can be for your career, you are building yourself where you are now. Ask Tyler and Josh, they still live in Ohio right? You can find success anywhere❤️ just never take the easy route

making friends has always been the hardest part of my life, but i feel like the only way to do it is to be as open minded as possible and focus on quality over quantity. having one friend that truly loves you and understands you is better than having thirty friends who don’t actually care about you or know anything about you. being as open as possible towards friendships is best. your best friend might be someone who has every single thing in common with you or it might be someone who likes the opposite of what you like. but being in one place or another won’t make making friends any easier, it’s all the same logic in the end
