Not to diss in Eric in anyway, but if your looking for most instructive definitely watch some of naroditsky’s speedrun. A lot longer games so he goes more in depth on every move and does in depth analysis afterwords as well.

Seeing you evaluate these tricky trappy openinga is so helpful. it's rampant at the low levels.
Love to see how to play against the bizarre openings at this rating level. This is definitely the peak chess content we come here for.
This series is the most I've learned about chess since I was told how the pieces move. Sure, play the fundamentals, but ALSO how to understand threats and diffuse or punish them. The idea that EVERY opponent move could be a threat is just so key.
I find it really confidence building watching you calmly work out of what would have been red alarm situations for me. It was a long day today, and this was the unwind I needed. Thank you!

I wonder how it would change chess if both players could see the eval bar at all times. Even as a variant. No lines given, just the bar.

You know in a world, where everything is politicised, I can't describe how much I appreciate your content. Chess is the only genre that I can still watch on youtube, without being lectured about certain world views. I appreciate your content and I appreciate you. You cannot imagine how much your calmness and your content mean to me. Thank you Eric.

Congrats to Eric on finally reaching 1,000 elo. The longer episodes are much appreciated. We want an hour long new years special!!!
Wonderful series, INCLUDING THE LAST VIDEO! Merry Christmas Eric!
Even the episode before with just the one game was great. The lesson there is patience. Apparently many people fail at having this when needed. Just keep doing what you want to do Eric, it's great.
Love these long videos! Thank you so much for this series. I can’t believe it’s free content
It's funny when Eric feels comfortable after a mildly tricky position so he calmly takes a sip of whatever he is drinking 17:42
These videos are very insightful. Thanks Eric for the time to teach us.
Really instructive and entertaining. Thanks Eric, and hope you're enjoying the holiday season.
I swear time ticks slower for you, I try to talk out my thoughts like you do and I always run out of time. I really respect your skill and poise, it's very inspiring.
Excellent video! Opening tricks and a good sense of humor.
Love your work Eric! Merry Christmas 🎄
So happy to have another episode so fast. Just watched you’re last one!! Love this content
Good lessons. Thank you Eric.
A Christmas miracle; a Légal's mate that actually worked!
Best chess content on YT right now, thank you so much.
Thanks, Eric - Merry Christmas or best wishes for this time of year!
Merry Christmas IM Rosen, thanks for another splendid year of top content.
Watching these have changed my game!! On the 22nd I was like 550 and i broke 900 last night. I appreciate you uploading these!
Very helpful. Thank you Imrosen.
The best chess series I've found. So calm, so instructive. Thank you so much, Eric.
Awesome series! Thanks so much!
Hey Eric, Greetings from England. Happy Christmas. Appreciate your content and enthusiasm.
This is my favourite series on the internet atm. I've never sponged up so much good information so quickly. Huge fan my guy. P.s.would love to hear more on the Hikaru drama - specifically how much stamina the big duck had.
Thank you for these instructional videos. I have watched videos, read books and played a lot of games but I repeat the same blunders. I have lay rapid except in OTB tournaments because I try to take time between moves but mostly wonder what am I supposed to be thinking? What am I supposed to be looking for. Your videos explain that. You do not rush through potential moves but rather detail candidate moves and consequences of each. Sincerely, you have taught me to be a much better player and I thank you. Happy New Year
happy new year, Eric🎉🎈🎇🎆
thank you eric! Merry christmas =D
Thank you for including more games ❤
In the 4. Ng5 Scotch, the lines starting with 4 ... Be7 are worth looking at too.
Thank your for this series Eric ! 😊
That first game was brilliant...have to remember that one
Thanks for the video, Eric
Could Watch This all day ❤😂. My fav series atm
Hope you had a nice Christmas Eric!
Happy holidays. Sometimes at this time of year it's nice to give one big gift but stocking stuffers are nice too. A stocking stuffer is a small inexpensive toy like a dreidel or a spinning top. You deliver a bunch of them say in a something hung by the chimney place with care in the hopes that St Nick will soon be there. That was fun. Thanks Eric.
I love this Speedrun; especially the offbeat openings
Love this series no matter how many games you play in an ep
Kinda late but hope uve had a great christmas eric. Your chess videos are very helpful and entertaining
I’m loving this type of content, would love to see some games with the ruy Lopez, maybe in the next speed run!
MERRY CHRISTMAS ERIC! Can you make a beginner/ intermediate Ruy Lopez video? Maybe system-based, or a few different systems (eg. Anti-Berlin against Berlin, maybe the same style setup against all closed Ruy Lopez variations) just to make the Ruy Lopez a bit simpler and easier to play. Thanks, and again, Merry Christmas Eric!
Eric, I love your videos. I don't leave many comments, but always a big thank you.
Thanks for the games!
love your videos!
Great Series
Eric is, without a doubt, one of THE chess teachers of our time
Merry Rosen and an Eric New Year everyone!
Best chess content on youtube!
cant wait for next episode
Happy Chessmas
Great video!
Thanks!
crazy that i’ve never seen that scotch opening trap until just last night, studying it after someone used it to get a quick win off me in a blitz game, and now seeing it again right away in this video; crazy coincidence!
Thanks for showing the TikTok trap. I'd never even seen it before.
Great episode.
18:48 Giving a check with the queen looked very appealing, taking away castling right and crippling white's development while having easy development for black's bishops. Black would be likely to win back the center pawn shortly after, too.
🗣️Even longer!!! Love your videos
Makes it look easy
WE LOVE YOU ERIC
another nice speedrun
Merry Christmas!
Hey Eric! I’m really enjoying the speedrun contents. I have a question to get better at chess. I’m currently rated 1000 elo and curious about analyzing the game. Is it better to analyze myself or should I analyze with the engine?
I’m subscribed to a few chess channels; But I must say that you make chess more simple in the most complex variations than the others. Most channels simplify only the main lines.
there's something satisfying about watching the advantage take a massive dive into black favor when simplistic counterplay destroys the meme opening
Linked here from an Eric Rosen congratulations for hitting 1,000 elo
2:10 Legendary move 5:48 Beautiful counter
Oh no - Légal - even beginners should know this.
Ahh... the Legal trap. Learned it earlier this year and immediately saw it in my games since I play Italian. Which means I probably have come across the Bg4 many times before I learned the trap. Now I turn it into a win and after I learned it. This and the fried liver occur more often as I've seen while playing Italian.
Merry Christmas all, best wishes for 2024!
Can you play Evans gambit? I never see you play this opening.
I actually got this exact same position! I felt great when I pulled it off
I check KZread everyday waiting for these speed run videos. I’m gonna be depressed when they end
I like the board on the right, it's the same as Daniel Naroditsky's speedrun videos :D
Why are the episodes soooo looong!! Lol just kidding 😄Awesome series, I'm really enjoying it as a ELO 50 player with ambition 🙏
I had not seen the Legal checkmate before. I'm going to have to spend some time on that. In game 3, instead of c3, I think Qe2 looks good. It removes the pin, and if black wants to trade on f3, it opens the g file for white's king's rook. White of course can castle queen's side or leave the king in the center, as conditions warrant. If black declines to trade, then h3, followed by g4 gets a pawn assault on the black king's defense going.
Christmas goose!
Feedback: 25-40 min is a great amount of time for these style videos (perhaps make a poll as a community post on KZread if you want others feedback) Example: Option 1: 1 game regardless of time Option 2: 3 games regardless of time Option 3: 10-25 min Option 4 25-40 min

Instructive playlist
can you play an Evans gambit one of these times??
15:40 Without looking it up, I think Qe2 is the counter to Nf5 because it prevents Nf2.
10:30 After 10.Bxf6, Black can avoid the quick mating attack with 10...h6 and 11...Kh7. White would still have a winning game. 9.Bxf6 wins a clear piece. Interestingly, the engine prefers the 9.Nxf6+ line, though most humans would find it easier to win up a whole piece than "only" this much better position with equal material.
Against the italian as black i almost always play the anti-fried-liver-line by pushing the H pawn. Costs one tempo move but saves a lot of headaches in the long run
18:51 would Nxd5 be better than Qxd5 because you are defending c7 and attacking the Bishop on f4 while being defended by the Queen on d8? I guess you were going after the Queen and c2 at 20:12. Could you please explain some of the nuances like this in future episodes?
I can't wait until you get to 1100+
Recently I am playing same opening 😁
02:59 that's me who was challenging you, still waiting...
Please play the Vienna Game! Or other E5 openings. Thanks for doing this - great instruction!
You should play the vienna
whenever i see the tiktok garbage, i play Be7. I've figured out the lines to refute it over the board, and checked it against engine later. Best is to bait white to sac on f7 and develop quickly. With best play from white black gives back the piece but black is still completely winning.
Did white have a center fork trick in game 2? 5:35
@lmabacus404
5 ай бұрын
No. The inclusion of Bc4 means that if 4. Nxe5 Nxe5 5. d4, black can just take the bishop with the knight and be up a piece for a pawn. But other third moves for white like Bb5, c3 or Nc3 do allow for center fork tricks if black replies with Bc5.
