Hollywood will NEVER replicate or even come close to the movies of The 80's... "You look good wearing my future" Only John Hughes could champion such a line !

I would be dishonest, but only one movie has really the energy of coming of age and inspiration in it that has come up in these years which i hail as 'an emotional masterpiece'. Wonder(2017) Directed by Stephen Chbosky and starring Jacob tremblay, Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson. It might be the only one that is equal to John Hughes' coming of age films in the 80's. Also, really respect him as a director and a writer.

The reason why it would be impossible to remake this movie is because tomboys are being erased out of history and existence nowadays. The per-ervs who run Hollywood nowadays insist that the tomboy is an actual boy and the mechanic is destined to come out of the closet towards her who is actually a him in a her body. 🙄🤢

"I'd rather be right." For all his flaws, John Hughes knew how to write teenage characters who strove to be grownups, who were complex and wanted to do right, even if they didn't always achieve it. That's why his movies endure.

i always loved that she chose to be alone , that the girl everyone wants not only doesn't get the guy in the end, but doesn't WANT a relationship -- that was revoluitonary to my teenage brain! And it felt kinda cool that Watts points out Keiths' blindness to how awesome she is! Just a great movie all around and a favorite.

KG2018 I’ve mostly read Stoltz was considered annoying because he was a method actor and always wanted to remain in character. Also he wasn’t a comedian and didn’t have the right comedic timing for the role of Marty... he played it too dramatically. They also knew within the first few weeks of filming they were going to have to replace him because of this. But my view of him hasn’t changed... still love him. Still underrated.

@Froggy Noddy Darling, I'm young, live in Germany and there is no 'animosity between the sexes due to feminism and the economy' 😂 Many young people have honest and good relationships and feminism certainly does not influence our ability to feel authenic feelings for someone. Feminism is about the equality of men and women, if you didn't know. You are probably old and make assumptions from a far. Please stop it, youre not young and you dont know how this generation feels. Besides that, this logic is bullshit

@Froggy Noddy What a pathetic hypocritical sad sack misogynist you are. Well, least you didn't pull the olde cat lady' trope so many of you losers use when you 're impotently raving bout 'feminism" and some gutsy woman calls you out for the clueless dummies and cowards you woman haters are. Thank heaven for small mercies I guess.

Michael J. Fox was originally offered the lead role in this movie as keith but he turned it down,, that's how Eric ended up getting it & Molly Ringwald was offered the role of Watts but she to turned it down. So Mary Stuart ended up in the role... A little old history, classic well done movie.

I liked her alot in teen movies, but Basic Instinct?? Indecent Proposal? no way. She was cute but not nearly pretty or strong enough opposite Richard Gere, Robert Redford or even Michael Douglas. And why would she turn those huge movies down in he first place??? Your source please?

Yes they do. But men like that--people like that, with that kind of integrity, that kind of sense of self, that kind of dedication to those they care about, aren't as common as they should be. But they are around. And I bet you know some already. I find if you're genuine with people, and treat people with respect, you'll find others that do likewise. You'll find assholes and deceptive pricks too, and may get hurt in the process. But you cut them out of your life, and be there for the ones that treat you as you treat them.
