I remember talking about this on our Skype call! Focus on being a successful musician before seeking endorsements and get them to notice you! So inspiring and makes me wanna just hop on my drums and master its aspects! Awesome clip, Adam 🥁💜👊

Well said!! Gene Hoglan said something about endorsements during his Drumeo visit and talked about how he tried at one NAMM show decades ago to try to get endorsements after having one album out, and learned the hard way that he had to have something to offer. So with that in mind, he bought all the gear he liked out of his own pocket and played the hell out of it at every session and concert for years, and was proud to play the gear he loved, so eventually, they came to him when he was getting "harder to ignore" as you put it. Once these companies realized how much of an impact he was making and how much he loved their gear even without any endorsement deals, that's when they knew it would be a good match for him to be an artist for each company.

Dear Adam, This is an excellent observation of endorsements. ‘Til this day, I have been endorsed by many percussion companies since 1989. And just as you said “Be Patient”... This is the golden rule.. This is excellent advice to ALL younger players.... Be Patient, Be Prepared and Be Grateful.. God bless mate and thanks for your continuing excellent video presentations... Chris Brien (Australia / Hong Kong)

This is so true, I have used Vater drumsticks for 30 yrs, and I got fixated on getting a endorsement and signed with Collison drumsticks. I played one song with the sticks and they broke. I through them in the corner and haven't even thought about an endorsement. I'm not there yet to be able to sign with Vater. I'm not gonna switch to an inferior product just say I got an endorsement. Lesson learned. Great video!

For some reason, I get so much pills of knowledge and wisdom from Adam's videos that I cannot find anywhere else. Subscription to the website was definitely one of my best investment so far! Keep up the great work :)

So Adam this makes me wonder, did Meinl come to you?

Yes. Virtually all of my endorsements began with the company reaching out to me, not vice versa. Of course many other relationships were/are networked (friend introduces you to a friend sort of thing) but I have spent very little time “reaching out to companies” to gauge their interest in me, or try to obtain some kind of deal. Generally, I think doing so is a total waste of time, unless you truly feel that there’s something of value that the company isn’t seeing. But that’s almost never the case. Lol

Also, the drummer is the one doing the endorsement (endorsing the company). The company is the one doing the sponsorship (they sponsor the drummer).
