    DG shot 4-17 delivering a disappointing 11 points, and couldn't get passed a 38 year old 6'10 center in his 17th season in a close out game. I'll take my chances with whomever else Koby can get to replace that...

    dg also dropped 30 the game before, made the game winning play in game 5 vs orlando and dropped 10 points in the fourth quarter of game 7. carried in their only win against new york. there was a lot more bad than good for him this season, but this is the first time thats happened. every year he was steadily getting more confident and efficient before the jaw injury that made him lose 12 pounds. we cant just pick and choose which performances define him, but if we’re going to, there’s 10 amazingly impactful games for every stinker he’s had the last 3 years. patience is going to be required. we’re gonna have to stomach an offseason of rumours and look back on lackluster performances from him this year. but this is exactly what jarrett allen went through last year. and he responded with his most complete season and a dominant showing in the playoffs

    @@FloydPhillipsII mitchell has been searching for a true pg to play with his whole career. from rubio to conley to dg, his best years were next to a primary playmaker that allowed him to focus on scoring. its great to see mitchell elevate his playmaking to this level, but he wont be maximized unless he has a guy like dg to alleviate defensive pressure, give him plays off to rest, and to takeover when he’s cold. reality is these two seasons in cleveland have been mitchells most efficient and prolific, despite playing heavy minutes with garland. this was a weird year for garland and even mitchell himself post all star, but there’s a lot of good to build off from their two seasons together, especially the first one, which saw them be two of the most efficient shooters in the league, off the dribble and off the catch.

    @@vism2812 I can tell you don't watch Cavs games. Donovan Mitchell is a pg now, there's no other way to say it... He doesn't need a primary ball handler, he is the primary ball handler going forward. He just needs one big and 3 knockdown shooters. That's the formula...

    @@FloydPhillipsII thats the formula that got the jazz knocked out early every playoffs. if thats all mitchell needed to win, they would’ve figured it out in utah. but when push came to shove, every playoffs he was getting swarmed by the best defenders and coverages teams had, praying for someone else to create quality looks for themselves. being a knockdown shooter isnt enough in the playoffs, teams will run you off the line and at least 1 guy that isnt your best player needs to be able attack once donovan is forced to give the ball up. jazz tried going 4 out with mitchell and gobert. it had a second round ceiling every time. by the end they were scouring for an all star level creator to pair mitchell with and couldnt make it happen. cavs already have. darius will prove his value if cleveland sticks with the pairing

    I think the best advice I’ve gotten is from Brian Windhorst “No one knows except Donovan Mitchell”… they’re reports left and right about him staying or going I think the best thing we can do is just wait and have a plan A and plan B. We are clearly at a crossroads with the core 4 and this offseason we will say good bye to atleast 1 if not 2 of them I love everything all 4 have given to this team and they are all really good players they just don’t fit together and that’s fine. The biggest thing I know at this point is anyone acting like it’s a sure thing one way or the other is not reputable… sometimes in life you just have to wait and see. The only thing I am positive about is we will find out the day he is eligible for an extension. If he signs it he will be here if he doesn’t he will get traded end of story. Until then just relax and enjoy your life!

    Garland needs to be able to run an offense. Dude is still a star, but he has struggled next to Mitchell. Mikhal Bridges or Brandon Ingram would both be fine gets in exchange for Garland if he has to go. Allen should not even be considered for a trade. Mobley is NOT a full time 5. Mobley has spent the whole year focusing on outside shooting, ball handing, and his face up game. He is a tall power forward who CAN play center. Never NEVER believe rumors about internal strife that suddenly pop up AFTER a season. Its always BS. Always. JB is a good coach. If a guy like Ty Lou becomes available, then go for it, but Stotts and Bud are lateral changes AT BEST.

    Three letters: CPJ CPJ will be a star. He makes DG super expendable. If I’m getting rid of a core team member, it is DG. If we package DG and Caris for a 3 pt shooting athlete that can guard multiple positions, the Cavs will be UNLOCKED next season, especially if they play fast/fire JB.

    Koby is a genius. He gave Garland a $40m contract annually that Cavs fans know he didn't deserve (this season). HOWEVER, now that Cavs may need to trade him, imagine how much value we can get in return. Top tier strategy to get a boatload of assets for a currently slumping player...

    There is absolutely no way the cavs can allow Mitchell to go into next season without signing an extension. That is not a possibility and it can't happen, period. He either signs the extension this offseason, or he must be traded. He's either all in or he's out, simple as that. If he doesn't wanna commit to the cavs beyond next season then they have to maximize his value via trade.

  • @mspeedm5849

    Klutch made it clear that he wants out if Mitchell signs long term. He is either the starting pg or he is gone. They are not complimentary. Altman acquires talent and then has to decide between them. One will be gone like it or not. You cannot trade as much as they did for Mitchell ,and expect that same gm to side with retaining DG over Mitchell either. Given they made that trade after they had already commited to Garland, before he ever proved worthy of it, also shows negligence. You cannot buld a team like that unless you are willing to cut loose of good players like DG when they don't fit.

    We could be in worse places than having Donovan Mitchell for another year if we want him and a feeling that if we stayed healthy, we could at least feasibly get to the finals. Max as our two guard makes more sense than seeing DG get bull dozed in the physical playoffs. Kuzma would be a nice return IMO

    JB obsessions with running a 1-5 pnr with JA. If Allen had been available when Mitchell was out DG in the last two games, it would have made DG more effective obviously. It also would have made Mitchell more effective before that. He needs Allen I guess is what I am suggesting. Mobley for as good as he may become offensively, is not Allen yet.

    garland is a 24 year old all star that never felt like himself after the jaw injury. giving up on him now will result in the cavs kicking themselves as he goes on to become an all time great shooter and playmaker. he had his best season next to donovan mitchell. donovan mitchell had his best season next to dg. the fit wasnt the issue this year. when dg is 26,27,28 and dominating, no one will care about this one year where he never fully felt comfortable. i’ve seen this too many times to give up on a player. kyrie, steph, de’aaron fox, jamal murray. so many rumours about their teams moving on or their potential being wasted. just for them to be on top of the world again a year or two later.

  • @mspeedm5849
    @mspeedm584914 күн бұрын

    They are forced to trade DG now coming off his worst season, as long as the Mitchell decision dictates the outcomes. The only selling point to excuse away DG's poor play is injuries and previous success without DOnovan.. DG only gets them value back on the basis it is a bad fit. If they come back healthy and it still does not work, even under a new coach. DG gets you even less if you can trade his contract at all. What happens if DG continues to play bad next season? Then you have to trade Mitchell to find someone to play with DG. Mitchell would only have a couple landing spots with good odds to get him to stay wherever he is traded. They will have gave up all that value for a rental that couldn't win more than 6 playoff games for them I think they kind of have to start over with a new GM and less JB Then there is the front court

    The size of the backcourt alone won’t get them any further than where they are now. I like them both as players but they won’t win it all with smaller guards who play OK defense (Mitchell) and poor defense (Garland). They need to keep Allen because the defense that he provides. Personally I wouldn’t mind them trading Mitchell for a good player and multiple firsts. I’m just not sold on him being a 50 per player with him being 6’2” relying on athleticism with bad legs and being 28 in a few months.

Outside of Cavs fans, few are going to see a max player in Garland at this point, no matter how good we know he was.
