    As a black guy, I concur with the fact that our skin does look like we leaned against a chalk board when it's dry. That's why I moisturize my face every morning/night, put lotion on my arms/legs and use hand cream. The whole ordeal is annoying, but totally worth it.

    the first time i told my white colleague (we're attorneys) that he was ashy, he looked at me like i had slapped him. his elbows were cracked and pink. it was ridiculous. now he's "on lotion 3 days a week."

    Yes. You don't need the expensive chemicals. Lotion, coconut oil, cocoa or shea butter is a must daily on every inch of our body. Oh and smelling good is important too. It's like brushing your teeth and we even lotion when getting ready for bed. Having good skin is drilled into us. I feel like when a Black child is born he is slathered in lotion or oil from birth and then carries that through his life. We then have a small bottle with us in our purse, car etc. If you're not showing shiny moist skin another Black person will call you out on it because you will not look like you're properly dressed or taking care of yourself. I have a friend that will pull the bottle of oil out of her purse if she sees me and my skin is not up to her standards and make me lotion right there especially before we go out in public. But upside people typically guess that i am at least 20 years younger than I actually am.

With that said though, the lotion certainly doesn't hurt! Plus, yes, all of our black brethren will crack on us if we're ashy😂😂😂 We have a big Costco bottle of lotion downstairs, we have one upstairs, I have my own jar of creamy moisturizer in my room, I have one in oldest my son's room because he is extra ashy... I have a personal small bottle in my purse and one in my work bag and one of my desk at work. My son has one in his gym bag. • @shinrapresident7010
    @shinrapresident70107 ай бұрын

    Scientifically, there is actually biological reason for this. White skin loses moisture at a less rapid rate than black skin. This is because Africa is extremely humid and Europe has winters. In Africa, skin needs to lose moisture rapidly because the air is constantly humid. White people's ancestors immigrated north in to Europe and had to deal with long winters that have no humidity, so their skin evolved to retain moisture for longer. I'm white and in my 34 years of life I've used moisturizer only a handful of times and it was always during winter. If I use lotion during the humid summers my skin will immediately break out and become oily because there's too much moisture.

    You're using the wrong kind of lotion if you break out. You probably have very oily skin, but you Still need a moisturizer in summer especially if you're going in and out of air conditioned cars, houses and buildings, because air conditioning takes the moisture out of the air and replaces it with cold, drying air. And, if you live in a hot climate with humid summers, you need moisturizers even more. You also need sun blockers, and sometimes they can be oilier than moisturizers. They're not the same thing.

Edit: 1.To your question. I dated a few white guys & there was 1 that I knew, for sure, have dated black girl before me because his skin was firm & moisturized. 😂. So the other two, I didn’t move forward with them, but it wasn’t because their skin was dry, as hell😂! 2. When on a few dates with a black guy, who would just RAVE about how flawless my skin was. Felt kinda of odd because we both were black he should know this already. Most of our skin is smooth. I later learned. This guy doesn’t use 🧴😮😬😳.
