Then nobody but white clubs would be allowed to play music since all modern msuic has its inspiration from Europe where the concept of a coposition was invented along side all the instruments in use, both physical and digital. So where do you draw the line at who owns what? It would technically all belong to Europe since it spawned from their cultures, intricate layered compisitions evolving from their folk music and classical music, along side all the instruments.

  • @liyonce4390

Are you trying to say that all instrument come from europe☠️? Because it sure does not. Intricate composition or not, poeple composed music without way before that invention. And it could not all belong to europe because some uses instruments from all over the world it is a mix of everything. However, we attribute certain style and genre to a country intricate composition is to wide of a thing(to me at list) so I don’t think I agree with you. I think what people meant was that it is IMPOSSIBLE so that is why they should not discriminate because that is dumb asf.

  • @vergil8833

@@liyonce4390 Nope, traditional music from elsewhere before European cultures created complicated compositions would be considered very primitive today. All modern music comes from European cultures even if they only use non-european instruments as long as they have complicated compositions. Though that is never made, all modern music is made with european instrments and technologies in order to create the european cultural tradition of making complicated compositions. So when we talk about which culture owns what, theres only one part of the world that has a claim to music, because music as we know it today came from their cultures, from Europe. To deny this is to appropriate. You and I both know how hypocritical it is to accuse koreans of appropriating from black americans when it all came from Europe. And yes, that includes rapping, spoken rhyme has been a thing in many european cultures folk music, fast rhyming to music, thats rapping.

as far as I understood, some of the Clubs in Itaewon do not allow Indians/Black people not because they don't fit their beauty standard, but there had been constant harassment, physical fights and drug issue with certain foreigners. I understood that this is conducted based on generalization. But it's not because of their appearance. When I was in Korea, a club of which name starts S used to allow foreigners in but not anymore due to severe domestic violence.

I can't say anything about their racism in their own country, but my problem is they also bring their attitude while living abroad, especially in SEA countries, not all of them but majority South Korean who live in my country as expatriate or businessmen really look down on us the locals, last month there's huge uproar about it in my country. I also got scammed and insulted for several times in the past, once when i was still a university student the second time when i applied for a job in finance, the boss called me and urged me to have interview with him, i was so excited i even borrowed some money from my mother for transport money, the company was in another city, the location was so remote because it was a charcoal company, when i arrived the boss took one look at my direction then the staff dismissed me, no interview, not one word of greeting whatsoever, he just kicked me out, i was so stunned, the security guard took pity on me and explained that the boss only prefer young pretty women, i was not the only one who's treated like that. I realized he only wanted a female employee as his amusement not professional staff, i noticed also that the staff were all male, i got goosebumps and thank God I'm not pretty so he didn't like my appearance 😅

I'm a black girl, so maybe that guy is right. 😂 I never had that issue. Especially in Hongdae. Half the time, I had people trying to get me to go to their club. I loved clubbing in Korea personally. I was only denied once, and it's because I wore slides, but he told me I could come back if I changed my shoes. I was too lazy to and just went somewhere else, but that's my only experience. My overall experience was nice, the DJs played whatever I wanted, people were excited to dance with me. Sometimes, I even got free drinks. But I have heard from other tourists that they weren't allowed in. Sucks that it happens to people, but tbh if they're not letting you in because of your skin color, do you really WANT to go in?

@theinvisiblewoman5709 Well, clubs definitely judge off of appearance, so if you're not dressed a certain way or you look too old to be in there, they won't let you in. They may just not properly explain why you can't come in due to language barriers or just not caring to explain. I lived there for 3 years and have seen some definitely racist stuff there. Don't even get me started with Covid protocols for expats in 2020. So, I would never diminish other people's experiences, but clubbing specifically was the few times I felt like I was welcomed in Korea. It's just case by case, which is sad but true. If anyone is curious about it, just try it out and see. Korea has grown so much technology and tourism wise very quickly, in like the last 60 years and they are still adjusting. Not everyone will be nasty.

What you said is actually racist. You just conflated those who are supposedly racist with those who arent simply based on race. Theyre not the same individuals. The doorman or club owners are not the same people as those making or listening to hip hop. We also dont know if the person was turned away for being black. He said it was about the number and them being foriegn. i worked in clubs in England and this is common when groups of out of towners show up . I have a feeling he adlibbed the black part. Im not saying it couldnt happen but I have seen so many spurious claims of racism since 2010 that I dont believe anyone anymore. So many times it turns out to be fake like Jesse Smollett or someone taking something not racist ie an Asian person with canerow and claiming their racist for having their hair like that. And I know thats harsh but its not my fault considering such claims or even how youve conflated two diff sets of ppl simply based on race but said theyre the racist ones.

most countries are judgmental and most societies are not welcoming to outsiders. You would be surprised. I'd say the ratio is 2/3 of all countries.

I like this guy. He seems like he will be a nice customer. One time when I was travelling in Bali, 2 black men visited a restaurant I dined-in at the time & honestly they were so LOUD, and their behaviour was kinda rude to my eyes. They probably only tried to be chill or cool, but as an Asian person where everyone in my country tend to talk in soft manner, I saw their behaviour as rude. So, next time you travel, see how the locals behave. If they tend to talk soft most of the time, or if their mannerism seems softer than the country of your origin, then perhaps try adjust your voice & mannerism so it does not scare the locals.

@@DarkAngel2512 which could be said about how “some people” of every race/ethnicity come across… Americans in general can be loud and rowdy sometimes. Not just black people but it’s the black people that are highlighted.

I lived there in 2007, i never noticed any racism. However i am tall as hell (6'5), n many thought i was a basketball player lol i would get food for free A LOT lol plus i did speak a little Korean n within their dialect, so they could have thought i was born there through the military. They would always be shocked because i spoke Korean so well lol

Nah fr because imagine you have a Korean grill bar or bubble tea shop in the US that plays Kpop but doesn't allow Korean people to eat inside😂! I get that Korea isn't used to foreigners, but it's really ironic how they'll blast afro beat and not allow an African to step inside as if locals will know how to sing and dance to the music.
