This is EXACTLY the news I was hoping to hear clicking on this video, with the last, _less than happy_ news update from you (on exomoons) being front and center in my mind while I did. You and Ben deserved it, David, and I hope this acts just as much as a teachable moment for people out there as the last one did, where you went into what dealing with the news of a big rejection looks like for you. This shows how reality can come full circle, and how it isn't just head-in-the-clouds, overly optimistic wishful thinking that can come out of failure when you experience it. Even if you're on a streak of difficult results, like a string of rejections you put a lot of energy into working and hoping for the opposite result of, and succeeding feels functionally off-limits to you, persisting, and continuing to carry yourself with purpose and an aim is exactly how you'll succeed in the future. If we believe in something enough, if we want to achieve an outcome enough, giving up is the only sure way to never see it happen. Congratulations again, thank you for sharing, and GO GET 'EM, you MOON-HUNTING TIGERS!!!!!!! 🔥🥳🔥

Big congratulations Dr. Kipping, it's wonderful to see some of the work that you have shared with us finally get a chance with the telescope. Looking forward to hearing more about the results!
Congrats! This goes beyond just being granted a wonderful opportunity and fulfilment of a dream, but is also a story about how to overcome failure and disappointment through staying strong, going back to the drawing board, improving and persisting like crazy.
I was just recently reminding myself of the video you posted a year ago about dealing with disappointment when dealing with a disappointment of my own. This is such an uplifting follow up. I'm so excited for you and your team and us, your viewers, who get to follow along!
Congratulations, Professor! Just yesterday I was watching the "Bad news" video. I'm so happy for you and I have no doubts that you will find what you are looking for.
Congrats! Can't wait to see the results. I'm glad all of your hard work and persistence have paid off. Well earned!
Such great news out of nowhere! I've been following your channel for a very long time now, and as a layman your explanations are always so clear and simple to understand - so very glad that you get rewarded with your work in such a prestigious way. :) Can't wait to hear of moons that you've named!
Congratulations! Found myself smiling watching this. Thank you so much for your channel, videos, hard work and for pushing the envelope of the human experience. I hope that you find what youre looking for. Bravo to the whole team.
Fantastic! Maybe in a way it's even better it was put off until this year! We can't wait to follow along with you on this journey! Congratulations to you and Ben and the whole lab!
FANTASTIC NEWS!!!! Very well done David! I’m so excited to see the results! I’ve followed your channel for a while and I’m also very interested to see if we can start to find exomoons and see if we can start to find out information about them! After all, the abundance in our own solar system in huge and they are such dynamic and interesting worlds! So happy you finally have been granted telescope time! I remember watching your video a year ago where you were venting your frustrations… I’m sure that we (as followers of your channel) all felt awful for you but also knew you wouldn’t give up!
Congratulations! I love your channel. You taught me so much in your videos. Looking forward to see the results of your observations
Been a tough past few days, and this was the bright moment I absolutely needed! Extremely happy and excited for you guys!!! I can’t wait to see the incredible news of your discoveries!!
Congratulations Prof! I am very happy for you and excited to see the results. Exomoons are not so overlooked after all! 😊
Man. I cant think of many times I've been so actually excited and, quite frankly, emotional and truly happy for someone I've never actually met in person. I know how much this means to you and your team, congratulations! There is no one more deserving. I love how happy you look in this video, you are absolutely beaming and I'm here for it.
Hearty congratulations, Prof. This opportunity couldn't have gone to a more deserving team! I look forward to coming along for the ride, as you take the greatest advantage of this opportunity.
Wow, this is wonderful news! Congratulations to you and the team!! I'm very excited to see the results!
Such great news, pushing the boundaries with JWST is exactly why we built the thing! Wishing you all the very best of luck, I know you all want to hit the jackpot but you already won, just having the time and collecting the data is a win no matter what it shows.
So giddy, I love seeing a person so passionate and persistent
I am new to your channel but have already learned so much from your rare talents in teaching, storytelling, and expressing enthusiasm. I am so excited for you! So well deserved!
This is SO exciting. Congratulations! Please share every step of this experience. So happy for you.
Congratulations, you deserve this opportunity. The joy and excitement in your voice, you are just glowing. Well done at being persistent.
Congratulations! This is truly exciting news. Appreciate your commitment to this channel so it's nice to see you rewarded in such a meaningful way.
Congratulations! I remember last year's video, I don't think I had ever seen such genuine disappointment on youtube. I could feel it through the screen. And now I can feel your excitement and happiness. Both news made me tear up for different reasons. So happy for you and your team!
I've been back here rooting for you guys to get telescope time and I cannot wait to read you and your team's discoveries that you build from the data you get. The fact that it's such a big request and still got granted is super encouraging!
Congratulations! Thank you so much for everything you have taught me, please keep it up with your head held high! I love your passion and im happy that you inspire us and we can inspire you as well😁
Your channel is so wonderful, and has enough of a following that you could point JWST at anything, and the educational value that we all learn from it, and the future astronomers that arise from it would make the time with it! Congratulations! I can't wait for you to share the knowledge with us!
Congratulations Dr.Kipping and team! This is so awesome! Good luck on next steps and things to come!
You are a gem of a man and one hell of a scientist and science communicator. I was a little too young for the era of Carl Sagan on television but have been always riveted by his storytelling and welcoming - for us all to marvel at science, our common heritage of curiosity and experimentation. You are of his lineage taking us from the fireside to the far end of the universe. May you find your special moon and tell us all about it. ❤ Congratulations!
Congratulations to the entire team. Thank you so very much for sharing everything.
Congratulations! I just stumbled upon your channel and am binge watching it, it's so informative and well done! I'm looking forward to the content you create off your discoveries!
Congratulations Dr. Kipping, that's amazing news! Great to see all of the hard work pays of. Looking forward to the following video's about it 😃
I saw the title to this video and I instantly clicked!! I love this channel and I am thankful for all the hard work you put into the videos, podcasts, and information your share with us!
So happy to hear this, and so happy to see the unfiltered reaction. You all are doing some of the best implicit marketing for becoming a scientist in today’s world. The discipline as a whole should absolutely support you for the inspirational (and rigorous!) work you’re doing.
Congratulations. Even more so for not giving up. I truly hope your telescope time with JWST delivers something hugely valuable. Once again, congratulations, you deserve it.
🇬🇧 Stoked for you, Dude. The sheer passion that you put into the charm offensive on KZread has certainly helped get the public behind you on this amazing project.
So cool man! Excited for you to be able to dive into this! Looking forward to the results!
Wonderful to hear, thank you a lot for sharing this! Looking forward to learning more from and thanks to your lab's work!!
First off I want to say, Congratulations, I believe you do deservethe time on JWST, even if I'm not much more that a laymen trying to learn more about our solar system, galaxy, and even the whole cosmos. I wanted to say that my first exposure to you and this channel was a couple of months ago with the video "Does Quantum Entaanglement Allow For Faster-Than-Light Communication?". Since then I have become addicted to your content. Thank you! Truly thank you. My nephew just turned 13 and watches your content with me and is also a fan of you and this channel. I see a spark in his eyes for learning and for our universe. He is not afraid to ask any question he may. I believe we both have learned quite a bit since the start of my journey intoto your videos. Good luck on your JWST time and I look forward to learning more from tou.
Congratulations David. I've been hoping to hear that this would happen for you guys and us all. I have limited time to follow astronomy current events but love your content on youtube and this news is awesome. Can't wait to find out what the results are when all is said and done.
Congrats professor, I’m so thrilled for you . Best of luck 🇨🇦
I feel that sometimes getting a good response can be nearly as "bad" as getting a rejection. Now the pressure is really on to show that the proposal was good and their faith in you is justified, and in this case you can make good use of the 60 hours of JWST time. Fantastic job, to you and everyone else involved. Rooting for you from Australia.
Yes!! I’m so pleased for you and your team. I can’t wait for the results. It’s amazing to see your hard work and persistence paying off.
Your work is inspiring, love to hear the success and cannot wait to see what we find
Congratulations all the very best. Looking forward to seeing your great results 🎉🎉🎉
This is not only some good news this is extraordinary news, I'm almost as excited as you are and I hope it pans out and you get a detection. I remember watching your previous video when telescope time was rejected and it was depressing to me too. I can't tell you how glad I am that you decided to keep pushing. I want to thank you for making us all feel better and I wish I had the same courage as you.
So happy for you !! 😅 awesome news!! Seeing anyone this excited and happy is lovely, but this is more! These moons are the real deal, and you’ve always said so. You, and your team deserve this 💯! Great news !! 👍🏼
So happy for you and the team mate, could see how devastated you were when the team got rejected the last time. It's well deserved, and I cannot wait to see what you guys get from this. Congrats!
David, you're a good scientist & a good man Congrats mate Well deserved
Congratulations! Thank you for sharing the moment. Best of luck with the survey!
Congratulations! I'm so happy for you and the team ❤! I'm so proud to support you all via Patreon. Can't wait for the details in future episodes! 🎉

An emotional moment for sure, with lots of joy to go around; congratulations!
So wonderful to hear! And plot twist: someone on one of those rocky worlds just got funding to look at Jupiter ;)
I do not fully understand how big of a deal this is to be honest, but I just couldn't stop smiling while I was listening to this. I could sense how much this means to you (and probably your studends/team), remembering the video where you talked about being denied the time.
Incredible news! I remember your video about a year ago when you were turned down, it really saddened me, so I'm so happy for you n your students/collaborators that FINALLY the committee saw sense and granted you your JWST time! It's going to be a great year!! 🥳👌
This is so wonderful! I recently got rejected for a grant and I'm trying to work up the will power to start writing the next one. Thanks for sharing your story, it's really encouraging!
Congratulations! Looking forward with the results! All the best!
Man, I’ve been watching this channel for so long, and you have always inspired me that I could be more than I am really educated for these videos always make me feel more in tuned with the scientific community and I do remember the video and discussion and I’m very excited and happy for you and all of your colleagues and students and the future videos about what you guys find makes me feel like I’m a part of it and confuse all of the guys that I work with when I bring shit up that involves the stuff
👍the sweet feeling (and relief) of grant success. Congrats to you, Ben, and the team
Thank you for sharing this journey with us. It’s fascinating for a non-scientist (but huge space geek) like me to witness this process, and the potential for a history-making discovery makes it that much more exciting. Congratulations!
I'm glad that you persevered and finally got the time you needed. I'm sure we're all looking forward to hearing of your future discoveries!
Congratulations!! I'm so happy for you and the rest of your team. Also, thank you for being such a great example of determination and passion in action! Really excited for all of you.
CONGRATS. Really hoping for success :) I'm subscribed already - and looking forward to follow the journey of waiting for the data, analysing, reviewing, and publishing the findings
I feel like I'm with you in this journey, like a friend and really hoped for this. I watch your videos daily at night to calm myself to sleep since years! It's as if we are long time friends. I hope for your success!!! Best wishes from India
This is great to hear man, super happy to see that you've gotten happy news, your joy brings us joy and I'm interested to learn more about these moons! 😁
Congrats on getting the telescope time. It is always so cool to see people talk about something so passionately. This is not only a win for you and your team, but also for space enthusiasts and the younger generations as a whole.
Congratulations David I remember how down you sounded when you got rejected last time, so it's really great too see you so motivated and happy. Your team deserves this well done!!
Congratulations!!! I’m so excited for you. And glad you didn’t give up. Can’t wait to hear what you find. Whatever it is, we will all learn something.
Awesome News!! So happy for all of you involved, congrats!
Congrats! Glad you and your team kept working at it. Can't wait to hear about the results.
Im so proud of you and the team of people you work with, you genuinely inspire me to learn and study more about astronomy every day.
