I had Solyanka and is my favorite soup (love the lemon and olive and all the meat) when in Vinnitsa in 2011. Also like Syrniki when I would get into Kiev would goto little sit down or takeaway Cafe opposite Olympic Stadium and though I only spoke English would point to all the items I wanted Syrniki was top of list including Vareniki and though I like meat would always go for Cabbage Vareniki so sweet and tasty!

I’ve eaten a lot of Ukrainian food, both at home and in Ukraine. First time I had Solyanka soup was about a month ago at a Georgian restaurant in Toronto. From the first mouthful, it was heavenly!! Such a good soup to try!

Not being a chest man , it was easy for me to concentrate on the soup 👍

In Louisiana we call "everything but the kitchen sink" gumbo. Typically sausage and chicken but you can add anything. We start with the trinity: green bell peppers, white onions, and celery all chopped and simmered in butter or oil. Make a roux with flour and oil. Add the meat, vegetables, and roux to boiling water and simmer for hours. Serve with rice in a bowl. While cooking, add paprika for flavor and spice. Allez les bon temps rouler!
