NGINX makes HTTP caching really easy and extremely efficient. Underneath any caching system is an extremely hard problem lurking in the dark - cache invalidation.
While this session by Ram Nadella, Senior Software Engineer at Etsy, does not solve the cache invalidation problem itself - it is one of the two hard problems in computer science, after all) - it highlights the options available for invalidating items in the NGINX cache and introduces a new system of smart invalidation-invalidating groups of associated items based on tags.
