Solving Real Life Problems with a Linear System in 3 Variables

This video looks at how we can solve a real-life problem with 3 unknowns using a system of 3 equations. The system is solved using substitution. The video includes 1 example.

    Good video, but frustrating title for a teacher looking for "real life" problems. When, in "real-life" would you solve this problem? This is a math class/textbook problem.

    I think our definitions of "real life" are different. This problem uses a situation which could possibly exist, not just a generic x, y, z that don't stand for anything. We are able to model what's going on using a system of 3 variable equations. The skill of being able to write equations to represent a situation is very "real life". Thanks for your feedback and I apologize for the frustration! :-)
