Nice video! I've been using a bumper plate mounted landmine forever, it looks like it's been through a few wars. But I love the abilityto set it up anywhere. I also like that a landmine sleeve better supports the barbell sleeve and takes a lot of the pressure off of the inner workings of the sleeve. Using a tennis ball or those barbell bombs puts some undu force on the sleeve and I've seen sleeves come off of the bar do to the extra force.

I can see that happening with cheaper, lower quality sleeves. I would think that modern, high quality sleeves wouldn’t have that problem but neither of these are perfect solutions. I guess even a rack mounted sleeve has its drawbacks because it takes up real estate on the rack post.

Very informative, John. Man, I was surprised to see the barbell bomb slides at lower angles. Makes sense, but thought it maybe had some super grip. Not a good choice for t-bar rows. Oh, and loved the Bible reference.

I was surprised when it happened too! When we first tried it out at HomeGymCon we didn’t have any issues but of course the bar there was unloaded. Plus the floor surface was different. My wife suggested that I try a different mat and we actually have three different mat textures in our home gym so the KZread Short you saw me using the bar in was me testing it out on one of our mats that has small ridges on top whereas the mat that is in the review video has a little texture but it’s flat on top. So now you know what I was testing! The mat surface!

I would jam it into a corner so it couldn’t slip.

@@honeybadger6313 I've done that but I've also seen countless examples of where a barbell that's jammed in the corner damages the sheetrock.

The problem is I have 1” bars and these are made for Olympic

I understand but my advice to you is to get rid of any 1 inch bars and join us in the 21st century with Olympic bars and rotating sleeves. The only reason to have 1 inch bars is to get your museum off to a good start. 😏 Seriously though you should definitely invest in an inexpensive Olympic multipurpose barbell as soon as possible.

@@GarageGymLifeMedia frankly the expense isn’t worth it and I achieved all those exercises with I inch bar with a cut 🥎 fixed to one end and put in a corner. Works as good and a lot cheaper

Then that doesn't sound like a problem. I answered the way I did because you said, the problem is. I think that since you've got a solution that's working for you, you should definitely stick with it. The only issue with the tennis ball is that when loads get heavy enough, tennis balls tend to split and that can cause you to lose control of a heavy barbell. But that's obviously not something that you've had to deal with so since I believe in not creating problems when you already have a working solution, I definitely agree that you should stick with what you've been doing! Thanks for clarifying!

@@GarageGymLifeMedia I am aware of the possibility of a tennis ball splitting. Mind you they are pretty tough. And I am 61 pretty fit but never really been able to grow bigger to the extent it’s a problem max for me at the moment is 50kg It’s a shame they don’t do one for standard barbells though.
