Solution To This Noisy Zoom G1xOn/G1On

We found a quick fix to the noise of this Zoom G1xOn and G1xOn. It’s called ZNR (Zoom Noise Reduction). Just go to EDIT and add effects, scroll and look for ZNR, then either turn the DETCT to Gtr-In and turn the THRSH up to 17 or 18. Or, you can leave the DETCT as Efx-In but put the effects first on the chain before the amp.

    it could be grounding problem or power supply. Try and use batteries if possible with the Zoom G1xn. Also another factor could be the amp. Try and use headphones and listen to it if the noise is still there. Just to make sure that it's not the pedal or the guitar that doing it. Another factor could be your guitar cable. There are noiseless. guitar cable. Or someone suggested to me before to buy a wireless guitar system, but I think it's still the same. If it's the guitar or amp that is doing it. I hope this helps.

    @@vincentryanborres but in some tone that is like in Distortion patches if we make low the thrsh then the attack of the guitar string s become low it don't sound much good

  • @vincentryanborres

    @vincentryanborres

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes totally agree with you on that one. That's why sometimes it's a balance of leaving some of the noise rather than removing it totally because the tone suffers. I personally don't use the noise reduction that much. Because if Im playing live with a band, the noise is being drowned by the drums and rhythm guitar so I don't really mind it. Its better to leave the natural sound rather than putting the noise reduction.

    Is there Noise gate in there or ZNR. Put it at the beginning of the chain. Then increase the threshold THRSHLD to 15-16. Can I ask what guitar and amp your using? Coz sometimes with single coil guitar it’s got louder noise than humbucker pickups.

  • @vincentryanborres

    @vincentryanborres

    2 жыл бұрын

    High gain settings normally creates noise. It can only be minimised but not totally get rid of. That's why most guitarist turns off the volume knob of their guitar after they end a song or when they do guitar solo. If you observe Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert they tend to turn the volume of their guitar down after doing lead. In my case I got a clean tone and lead tone, so that Im on clean tone before I play lead and then step back again to clean tone after I finished so that I can hide the noise. There are factors that can minimise the noise like shielding the wires of your guitar, using noiseless cable, using ground lift from DI box so that the amp and your pedal doesn't have that hum. But even with those in place, you will sometimes encounter static noise depending on the venue, the amp or guitar use, etc. Hope this helps.

    Thanks so much for this! :) It works on all the patches I've tried, but I can't seem to add a pedal to the original I5(WhiteBlues) patch though. The screen shows "processing limit/DSP full/can't use pedalvx/change effect type". The third effect in the patch is also a ZNR pedal- should I just move it to the last? Also, "gtr in" means that it's the first effect in the patch, ya? Thanks so much for your help again! :)

  • @vincentryanborres

    @vincentryanborres

    3 жыл бұрын

    Welcome. Yes sometimes when the patch got strong effects even if it’s only three or four effects, you’re not able to add anymore and it says processing limit is full. I can’t seem to understand it as well. But what I do sometimes is remove or swap other effects for example if it’s an Overdrive or Distortion, I just use similar effects in order to accommodate the pedal. Yes about the ZNR if it’s GTR IN means that wether you put ZNR in the middle it will still be the first one. It won’t affect the chain of effects.

    Siddhartha Bhardwaj sorry to hear that. To be honest I don’t have Zoom G1on but the manual says that they are the same apart from the expression pedal where you can assign Wah Wah. Here’s how I do it, turn that round knob to right until it says add effect press enter and look for DYN/FLTR press enter then turn knob to your right and add effect to here being the first one from your right. You will see Comp press the blue cursor which is like arrows up down left right but press the up arrow until you find the ZNR I think it’s the fourth or fifth effect when you press up.

    What's difference does Efx-in or Gtr-in makes?

  • @vincentryanborres

    @vincentryanborres

    4 жыл бұрын

    It means that the ZNR (Zoom Noise Reduction) when it's on the EFX in is that it's more active on the effects. So if you got a noisy pedal, it should be put after so that it will filter the noise. When you use the GTR in, it means that it will filter any noise albeit from your guitar or wherever, so you can put the ZNR anywhere in the chain.

    AVISHAN EKKA hello. About the noise, there will always be noise with high gain or distortion. The noise reduction will only minimise or reduce it. Another thing is that some guitar are a lot better in terms of noise as well as other amps are noisy than others. Its all combination between the guitar, the cable and the effects pedal.

    Bro I just encountered the same problem at a live giv yesterday... Even after the setup, when I turned on the distortion , it produced a less noise in my feed back amp, but it amplified 10x when its heard from external amps... As a result they had to lower my level of my guitar which cost the whole band to compromise on the distortion part.. Any idea why it happened ?

    NS TCG during live gigs there lots of problems that you might encounter like the venue might have a different grounding system or the voltage is slightly different. I normally use batteries. Another thing is that sometimes the settings you have is compatible with your amp but if you change amp, you need to adjust the settings again i.e. volume or gain level. Now having said that, you need to observe your unit itself may be its playing up and there’s something wrong with it. Try Batteries, try the usb option for power and observe for few hours. If it plays up again then its probably your unit. Return it if it has warranty, ask for replacement.
