I love the way you show independent travelling as it really is, with all the vagaries of the weather, transport connections that sometimes don't quite work, and the uncertainty of just finding your way around in a foreign land, and yet you make a virtue of the unpredictability and the little adventures that come your way. Your recent videos of travelling in Scotland really ignited my travel bug that have been hibernating throughout the pandemic. Totally can relate to the stress and tension that you felt because I personally don't drive and always needed to depend on the public transportation whenever I travel. But, as much as I hope I have the convenience and comfort of self-drive, I think I will always choose public transportation whenever I travel solo because you will never know who you will meet briefly throughout that journey. Scotland is definately on the top of my travel bucket list now. Thanks for sharing all this with us!

I love traveling alone too. I have been doing it since 2012, but not a full-time traveler. As an Indonesian, it's not that easy to get visa to travel to certain countries. I always watch your videos, but this video got me a special feeling. It's just perfect sceneries with the combination of the dope music that shoots me. I recalled the feelings when I was traveling, sometimes lonely and sad, but I enjoyed it. It's the time when I learnt and understood myself more. It's not always good, sometimes there were challenges, but it's addictive. That's amazing when I tried to find something in the places that I've never been to, but the only thing I found was myself.

Another fascinating video. I never made it to the Outer Hebrides (to my eternal regret) and I very much doubt I will now (I'm in Philippines now!). As to previous travel; I spent 5 years in the late 1970s and early-to-mid 1980s hitch-hiking around Europe and found that an adaptable style is a pre-requisite - you set out to go from Paris to Munich and end up in Marseille! What the heck! Marseille is a cool city and Munich will be there another time. I take my hat off to you for traveling alone and I understand why you do it - you don't have to justify anything (route, destination, etc.) to a travel companion. It's also a great way of learning. Yes, about the places and people whom you meet but, more importantly, about yourself and your own peculiar attitudes to situations which you encounter. I miss travel. Naaah, that's a lie - I miss my youth and the opportunity to travel freely with no set goal. Thoroughly enjoying your videos.

The third episode is more challenge for you in scotland when you were almost frustated because the weather isnt very predictable, but you had flexibility and spontaneity. And its great😁😁😁

Glad to see you traveling to Hebrides Islands. The weather - cloudy, rainy, windy, chilly and gloomy- is very typical of Scotland. You simply have to accept it to love Scotland. Because the sunny days - when the land shines like a fairy -tale land - compensate for this.

Hello. I took that same route and ferry last year. I travel alone, mostly drive myself, camping, and walk a lot. I went to the top of Lewis, then drove down through Harris, North and South Uist, Benbecula, almost to Barra. Very windy. Enjoy your travels. ilona

There are always good & bad days when travelling, but the good ones always far outweigh the frustrating ones and make the whole experience such a pleasure & worthwhile. Although from South West England I spent six weeks in Manchester in 1963 travelling all over the north of England and even travelled to Scotland independently from there. Yes I'm an oldie.....that was the summer of 1963! That experience gave me the confidence to travel to many parts of the world independently. Love your videos Syifa.......it's always a pleasure when a new one appears! 👍👍😊

Very good and beautifully shot video which gives you an idea of just how diverse our weather can be but also how limited public transport is in the north west of Scotland. I lived for over a decade on the Outer Hebrides and regularly crossed the Minch on the Hebrides. You do get used to the choppy seas after a while!

This is a really good quality travel blog, with a very charming host. I may be biased, as I am from the highlands of Scotland, and have travelled this route many times. I also have a place in my heart for Indonesia, as I have also travelled on ferries there too, (Bali, Lombok, Gili Trawang, Gili air…) and fell in love with the people there too. 👌🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The people you meet are just as helpful but the surroundings are so different to your past travels. Quite funny to already hear a bit of Scottishness in your accent! :D

I liked this. I also appreciate that the intricacies of Hebridean travel were pointed out.

After a hard day of work even though a Saturday I am home and get to relax with this Video thanks for your efforts and sharing your journey. Stay safe and stay happy

I visited Skye with some friends of mine many many years ago. Wonderful landscapes, charming people but above all Talisker!!!

Oh no!! I work on ships! You have to go low to help seasickness. Get to the lowest part of ship- or close to the water line as you can and go near the centre, between front and back. Motion is less there. Laying down , keeping head still and closing eyes good. Avoid hot, strong smells and believe it or not- eating something will help steady your stomach . Take care! Nice video and safe travels!

What I see is that travelling through Scotland means a proper voyage plan beforehand!

This is the first video of yours that I've seen and it's a very enjoyable watch. If you get the chance to go to Harris again you absolutely must visit some of the beaches. Luskentyre and Seilibost are amazing beaches with white sand and turquoise water. It's like the Caribbean, but colder 🤣. It's difficult without transport, but I promise these beaches will amaze you.

Great realistic video. 👍🏼 Although I can't believe you went all the way back to Portree rather than walk into Uig! 😁 Looks further than it actually is. Also surprised by people commenting about you travelling alone. Very common in the Highlands and one of the safest areas to do so in the World. Keep up the good work.

First visited Outer Hebrides by ferry in a February long ago. Have never forgotten it - but every ferry since has seemed ok!

I enjoyed your video. I have travelled alone through much of the Hebrides and it can be a challenge, making connections and getting places. But it can be very rewarding because when you are alone, people will talk to you. When two or more people travel together, they don't realise it but to others they appear to already have formed a bubble and so people probably won't take the chance to ask about you. I've travelled in Ireland and Norway and the Netherlands all on my own and can think of many people I met who rewarded my travel with a kind remark or sharing. So I would say to keep travelling, in whatever form you want to try. I have never seen any place as beautiful as the west of Scotland.

Sorry love, but you HAVE to book accommodation ahead. I planned a 5 day solo trip to Scotland, by bus, like yourself. I went through my itinerary time and time again and allowed for delays. The second time i did it it lashed all day and gave in and asked a local for a lift. Glad you stuck it out!

I recognise quite a bit of Tarbert having spent a weeks Holiday there a few years ago in fact our Holiday Cottage was at the top of those steps you climbed up to take in the views at the end

Yes - but more fumes sadly. Personally I find the fumes of the cheap oil ships often use more sick making, so I end up on top.

Great video. I have never been to this location of Scotland. I traveled one month in 1983 pretty much alone between college semesters all over Europe/UK/Ireland, I so wished back then there were mobile phones, internet to help with finding places to stay. I also did another one month trip (1990) again in Europe/UK/Ireland with a friend, though flying by the seat of our pants was a bit tiring, if we didn't like a town, we moved on with the next train. Had fun meeting all sorts of people during our journey, now I take my daughter overseas each year, sadly this is our last as she is heading toward post-graduate school, so it is sad to think it is over, but so happy to have taken her to so many countries and open her eyes to the world. Stay safe Syifa, may your travels have many more sunny, dry days, to enjoy the walks from bus to ferry and back again.
