Solo Overnight Fishing & Camping....What a Fish-Fest!

Ойын-сауық

Solo Overnight fishing and camping trip.
In this episode Graeme recalls an overnight Carp session where he gets blasted by a 20- pounder just as he was having a cookup...all on camera....Then he settles down for the night in the idyllic surroundings of an old Estate Lake that is now no longer available. A good job he held the film back in his files. It was one of the best he has had there, with many fish into high double figures...It’s a film where he approaches it with his usual "chuck-and-chance" style of carping that has stood him in good stead over the years. Then he takes a drive down to deepest Somerset with Mike from TA Outdoors to deliver some 100 year old Ash wood to the Blacksmith currently making the TA all-English Axe....It’s on an enormous farming Estate with spectacular views...Sit back and enjoy.

Graeme, I'm not a night fishing guy I prefer the daylight, However, I do enjoy camping, a quick and easy meal is fried rice. The precooked packs of microwave rice, (done in 2 minutes), can easily be cooked in a frying pan, just add prawns or bacon bits, whatever, and you're good to go!

A nice big ham and cheese omelette is an easy overnight meal which doesn't require any special treatment. Get an empty pop bottle, crack your eggs into it at home, add seasoning and give it a shake before placing in a coolbox or somewhere it won't get warm, when you're ready to eat all you've got to do is pour it in a hot pan and add a bit of grated cheese and ham. Sauteed potatoes are a good side dish if that's not enough, thin slices of potato fried in a hot pan with a bit of oil until crisp seasoned with salt and pepper, maybe a bit of garlic powder

When I do a 48hr I make a bolognaise before I go and portion it up for both nights teas. I take spaghetti and and a tub of Parmesan and have a Bankside cook up. Also take a pack of those frozen garlic bread with cheese slices you can get from supermarkets and toast them in my ridge monkey pan. For the morning I make my breakfast beans special, I fry off bacon lardons , onion , mushrooms, sausage meat rolled into balls and add a can of Branston beans.. crack an egg on top and let it cook. I eat with crusty white bread and butter. Costs me about £20 for 2 nights and mornings meal.

Thanks for the time and effort you put into capturing your footage, as well as editing. Having read a good few comments on your channel over the years, it's patently clear that you brighten the lives of many. And (although I'm not overly familiar with the mechanisms, and machinations of KZread) I've rarely seen a channel, such as yours, on which I can watch a video lasting an hour, without being forced to skip past innumerable adverts! I'm guessing that's a choice you made to put the interests of your audience, ahead of the interests of your bank manager!... I have to disagree with you, though, upon one issue: Canals!... In my experience, it's difficult to top arriving, at first light on the 16th, to a stretch of The Royal Military in Kent, with tench on your mind!

They have this new fangled gadget called a "toilet". Quite convenient instead of the old fashioned dock leaf...Its like a tall cubicle, with space for a single man and a porcelain bowl with a bend in it ,invented I believe by a certain Thomas Crapper(true, check it out)...Into this porcelain bowl you can deposit anything that is surplus to your bodily requirements, and then, believe it or not,you push a lever, water rushes it all away. Unfortunately some of this waste does end up in our rivers, killing pretty much everything ,but the "toilet" is quite a handy gadget if you are on an overnight fishing trip.I believe they have now invented a mobile version that can be carried around and used at your leisure,in caravans, tents, etc. If you get to use a toilet you will save yourself a lot of nasty stings from stinging nettles when you collect your dock leaves,as making a mistake using the wrong one can lead to a most uncomfortable sitting position for the duration of your trip.

I don't ,luckily the fisheries have toilets on site .If I get to the stage of stacking a portable toilet onto my Carp barrow as well I think I will give up and take up needlepoint.
