INTRO
In July 2023 I set off for a 25-days solo bikepacking adventure into the vast and wild Mongolian steppe.
Mongolia is a place that, to me, has always been a land of adventure. Adventure because when you are there, alone, in the middle of the steppe, makes you fell really exposed, insignificant, vulnerable. At the same time gives you absolute freedom, makes you feel the master of your fate, the captain of your soul.
In the Mongolian steppe there are no marked roads, only tracks of those who have passed, if someone has passed, before you. I believe this makes the steppe, like nowhere else on this planet, the perfect place to question oneself and to search and chase one's own trajectory in the steppe, like in life.

ABOUT
I am Giacomo, a 27-years-old aerospace engineer from Italy. I am not an athlete, nor a photographer. I am just a sensitive solo cyclist and enthusiast explorer, curious about discovering different cultures and keen on travelling into wild nature.
In 2021, before starting to work, I went solo bikepacking through the wildest parts of Iceland for 50 days. That is how my passion for bikepacking started. In 2022 I spent 3 months in Nepal. In these months I had been trekking and cycling through very remote areas which often remain untouched by tourists.In 2023 I went solo bikepacking the wild and vast Mongolian Steppe for 25 days.

Great film! Very authentic compared to all the sponsored athletes or ambassador videos that have become the norm on KZread. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you, for the compliment, I really appreciate it! I tried to put in the video all the emotions I lived first-hand in the trip. And maybe that is what in the end gave to the video this shape. I am happy if you can feel my emotions in living the experience and editing the video 🤩
Giacomo...hello. Great job documenting this amazing journey. Cheers and got yourself a new subscriber.

Once again I watched this video. What an adventure, what an experience. The landscapes are incredibly beautiful. And you will probably never forget the encounters with the people. Great. Kind regards and all the best.

Thank you very much! The landscapes can be really amazing, but the encounters with the people are really what I look for when I travel by bike. People see you alone with the bike, in the middle of nowhere, and they try to help, to communicate with you in any possible way. I think that by travelling this way you can really touch a very ancient human istinct, that we have maybe almost forgotten: helping others. Thank you for the kind words, I will try to keep it up.
What an incredible opportunity to see and meet the people of Mongolia and their beautiful country!

Thank you for making this video, it was different to the stuff that usually ends up on KZread and in a good way. I liked your understated edit and commentary and it brought me back to Mongolia, I also rode there in August last year.

Thanks for this sharing my friend. I mainly ride fatbike. Weren't you forced to work with skinny tires in Mongolia?
@cycling.beyond
Thank you for the feedback! Yes, a fat bike would have helped me a lot. But that was the bike I had, so I just went with that. I spent so many days worrying about my skinny tires before the trip. At times I had to push, but I always got where I wanted. If you have wide tyres definitely go with them :)

@cycling.beyond
Nice film, but i wanna know how many days did you bike in MONGOLIA? Wanted to see more but the video is so short...

Thank you so much for the very kind words. I biked for 25 days, but in many moments I was very focused on surviving/living the experience myself. I had more material, but this is the best video I could do without getting it boring. But thank you so much, I will try to do more content like this 🙏

There are many: filtering water, satellite tracking, bringing all possible spare parts, multi- fuel stove etc. if it’s one of your first trips do do it too remote
hope soon have english sub 😢
