Solo Canoe - 10 Days

With the ice finally gone, I set off again with my 4 dogs into the backcountry. We had 2 river systems to descend and ascend to reach a lake that was rumoured to have some of the wildest lake trout action around. The rumours proved true. Not only that, but I hooked into some of the best walleye and brook trout fishing of my life as well. Not all of the days were filmed, but the spirit and story of the journey was captured and condensed into this video. Enjoy! To see extra photos of my trip and the fish I caught check out my instagram below.......

No flash kit, no expensive knives, saws, cooking gear, tent...clothing and no false 'do this or that, because I do'. Just one man and his dogs self reliant in every way. Superb. :)

This comment is not to be taken as being disrespectful of anyone. I am a 50 yo man whose love of the outdoors is as strong as anyone's. I have been worried about the younger generations lack of outdoor time. Then I found your friends channel and saw someone that has so much skill in the outdoors. He brought me to your channel and wow. Where your friend is in the outdoors, you are with the outdoors. Your presence is not one of fighting the elements and surviving, it is being one with the elements and thriving. I truly am in awe of your abilities and I hope that my two boys can find the same level of happiness being with nature.

beautifully put. exactly the words I was looking for the other day :) I can't help but notice your handle and age and am wondering if you have anything you might be able to share about DMT. I'm assuming that you have or do use it for medicinal purposes. I am interested in doing the same peace :)

Agree with you @DMT - I'm 53 and love the outdoors and I don't plan to ever stop canoeing -- but it's inspiring to see how Zold is one with the elements. I'm in awe of his abilities too -- but I'm also envious: one wishes to be 30 years younger again to experience the wilderness as a younger man.
