    This is the best tutorial I’ve seen on this game, I actually understand it so thank you! I also never knew that shuffling 7 times created the max amount of randomness, so I’ve learned a lot today (:

    In minute 10:08 can't you take the 5 of clubs and place it in the first column below the 6 of diamonds so you can take the 6 of hearts to the fundation? Or is it forbidden to move only one card?

    Excellent idea. Yes you can move tableau cards to other piles and free up the card below. Good catch!

    Does the sequence loop around in the tableau like it does in the top row? Example 3♥️, 2♣️, A♦️, K♠️, Q♥️, etc

    Foundations are to be built up until they reach 13 cards, so these piles do loop. The tableau builds down in alternate colors but ends with ace. Thanks for writing!

    Is the reserve made by taking the top 13 cards off all at once or by taking them off one by one, reversing the order?

    Either way is acceptable in my book provided the deck has been well shuffled.

    When building down on the tableau, can you put a king on an ace of opposite color?

  • @SolitaireWithTheCardGuy

    @SolitaireWithTheCardGuy

    3 жыл бұрын

    No. Unfortunately the sequence is not circular. Kings form the "top" of the rank and the Ace is the "bottom" of the rank. Only queens of opposite color can be placed on kings in the tableau.

  • @SaulSnatsky
    @SaulSnatsky3 жыл бұрын

    This is a lucid explanation. Emphasis on the circular placing should be made more times.. Going down, after three, deuce, ace, the following card should be a king, then queen, jack,... Going up, after jack, queen, king, the next should be ace, deuce, three... is my understanding.

    Great tutorial. When you are drawing cards and have less than three in the pile remaining, do you just draw however many you have and then are able to play the top one? In other words, if I only have two cards left, do I just draw those two and can play the top one if possible? Or, do I have to just restart the whole draw pile because I have less than three cards remaining to draw?

  • @SolitaireWithTheCardGuy

    Draw the cards in groups of three. If the final draw is 2 or less, then play that top card. Redeal without limit. Enjoy!

    So is it only the foundation card play thats circular ? The tableau isnt? So say I had a Ace of hearts i can’t put a black king on there ?

  • @SolitaireWithTheCardGuy

    @SolitaireWithTheCardGuy

    Foundations often start with a card that is not Ace or king and the goal is to build them up to 13 cards. Therefore, the foundations are circular. The Tableau builds down but is not circular meaning the run ends with Ace. Hope that helps, and thanks for writing!

    Could you not have moved the 5 of clubs onto the six of diamonds at the end and freed up the 6 of hearts to go onto the hearts foundation? Or are you only allowed to move whole stacks?

    Great question. I play the game where only whole piles can be moved to build on a neighboring tableau piles. But some play the variety where an individual top card can move to other tableau piles (as you've suggested). This variety offers another tool and would help advance play. Have fun!

    5:15 - Can't the black 3 be played on the red 4? That's how it works when I play Canfield online. Does that not apply when playing with a real deck of cards?

  • @SolitaireWithTheCardGuy

    @SolitaireWithTheCardGuy

    Unfortunately no. The red 4 is the top of the 13 card reserve or "stock." You only draw from this pile and play on foundations or tableau. You don't add cards to the reserve. Hope that clarification helps! Enjoy.

    At the start of the game, there are 34 cards in the stock/draw pile. That is not divisible by three and the last "group" of cards in the draw pile contains only one card. This abnormality drives me nuts so I deal 14 cards in the reserve pile on the initial setup.
