This is a recording from SOLIDWORKS World 2014 which was held in January in San Diego. This was a break out session presented to an audience of SOLIDWORKS and Simulation users of all levels. It was meant to be an introduction to the theory of FEA so that a user with little or no background of FEA or Analysis will more comfortable with using SOLIDWORKS Simulation.

At the end you talked about singularity. So if we have convergence problem in the stress results how should we deal with? Is it ok if the displacement result converges enough while the stress results does not ?

Hey! Thanks for the comment. If you have singularity I always first look to confirm it’s cause by the geometry and then I look to remove that area. My goto move is to add an incredibly small fillet. It is absolutely ok to have converged displacement results without stress convergence. That is exactly what will happen
