When Asvab came to my school I had no plans on the military and just filled in the dots. Got a real low score of course. In September of my senior year I entered delayed entry for the Army with that as an score that limited my job opportunities. 62H. Between my deployment to Honduras and Desert Storm took that class and took the GT, got a 110. Don’t know really how great that was but the councilor said it was a huge improvement. After I ets’d and considered reenlisting following 9-11 took the test again, oh and I got a bachelors degree, I got a 130. At that time a decade had passed and was told the GT score metric had changed so I don’t know how it compared to my previous scores but it was a definite improvement and the guy questioned if I had cheated. But definitely you can improve your score if you practice and study.

I got a 91 on my ASVAB test when I was 17....I didn't practice and was fresh out of juvie . Some people are dumb.

Being in the boy scouts until middle school was actually beneficial for this

I took the ASVAB while in the 11th grade and scored a 110GT. Few years later, I joined the Army in 1986 after two years of college... then served 10 yrs as enlisted and served in SF units. I went back and graduated from college with a degree in engineering... by then, I was a 30 yo high speed E6/SSG... in 1996, I then graduated from OCS. I served for 21 years as a commissioned officer... Engineer Officer... 31 yrs total. Hooah!

After I scored high enough to enlist in any 35 series in the army. Then I chose 11B and became a real soldier. After 8 years in the 10th mountain division I finally crossed and became a 35 lima. It was also great and I finally retired. Doesn't matter what you can get or what your doing as long as IT'S FOR YOU!

When I was a recruiter I had a guy get a 28 on the asvab(31 is passing 45 is the average) but he had good line scores and qualified to be an air traffic controller but not good enough for the infantry, I couldn't believe it.

I didn’t join the military but I applied long enough to take the ASVAB and I got a poor score and looking back at it now I think the reason for that is because I was too young. I still remember some of the questions and as I’ve gained a lot of life experience those questions seem like child’s play now. The point is I think soldiers going in get crappy scores because they’re still too young and inexperienced.

76 in the asvab and i chose infantry man , the Sargent looked at me and say “you don’t want something else “

The highest grade i completed in school was 9th grade. 15 years later i decided to join so i studied 2 hours every morning on various portions of the asvab and got an 88. My GT was 123 and i ship out to start basic training in August

Mid 90s: I had a very high Asvab score and prior experience in NJROTC. I also had a CNA certification, was certified for CPR, had a licence to do phlebotomy (draw blood) and had 3 years of experience as a nursing assistant. I went to MEPS, passed the dog and pony show, then ended up talking to the Final Boss recruiter. He hit me with the hard sell after hours of examination and stress from the process. "Mr. Wizzard, we're willing to offer you...combat arms. You can choose Infantry, Artillery or Armor." My silly ass didn't argue. (I should have.) I remembered being a kid and going to fairs when my dad was stationed in Germany. I said, "Armor." This, children, is how a medic/nurse ends up driving a tank for 3 years. 🤣

Going in for Infantry within the month and scored an 82.

Hot tip- study your ass off before enlisting... you're welcome. High school dropout here, imma GED person and my asvab placement score was 83. If my ass can get an 83, you can at least get a 78.

Lmao, I had a GT score just a couple points shy of the maximum. “What job were you interested in, with these asvab scores you can pretty much qualify for any MOS.” “I want to be in the infantry.” “That’s typically not for the smart soldiers” “Smart soldiers stay alive, our current enemy primarily targets support troops, I want to be with the troops targeting the enemy.” “Fair enough.” Real conversation I had at meps.

We called it fast class when I was in and I can count on one hand how many slots and I've only ever been given 2 slots to send someone. No clue how much shit has changed, but if you're going combat arms, get it right the first time. Don't sign a contract until you get a good score and a good gt.

FAST classes or retaking and ASVAB is just simpler and I’m pretty sure ppl do that now.

I got a 75 or 80 wanted firefighter was told that the only openings they had were scout, infantry, engineers or....erh mike mike...driving is fun but I don't want to do it for a living...ended up driving MRAP after being trained for breach and clear on strikers....we were a sapper unit and you really should do a video on log training that was painful

The two things I was afraid of when joining the A.N.G. was Math & running. Ya know what? I made a mountain out of a mole hill. It wasn't that bad I did decent in math/asvab And ran a 7min mile. Not the best but not the worst

I can't remember what my overall score was but I had a 124 GT And picked 19D

I took the asvab multiple times and I kept falling so i quit
