Soldiers Of The Pope | Full Movie | David Willer
For the first time an exclusive visit behind Vatican walls records the history, traditions and daily life of the smallest army in the world, the Swiss Guard, whose duty is to defend the Holy Father at any cost, giving their own lives if necessary. The film captures the highlights of a typical year for the Swiss Guard, including their ceremonial duties as well as some more intimate moments. Here is their story through the lives of the members of the Swiss Guard, offering a window on the Vatican not seen before.
Director: Mario Biasetti
Narration: David Willer

I'm an American service veteran, I have always admired the pontifical Swiss Guard, very renoun military unit , keeping watch over the smallest country and personal Guard to His Holiness, I have to sayTheir Blue Yellow Uniforms they wear ,really stand out above any other military units on Gods green earth. The Swiss should be proud of these men carrying on their Solemn duty protecting His Holiness. Makes me envious being an American than that of Swiss nationality. I would love to be able to do that job and wear that beautiful uniform. Gid bless his Holiness and the men of the Swiss Guard

@C R how dare you speak of that to the vicar of Christ. Not even david dares to lay hands to saul. Yet you dare to speak ill of the pope. If you are without any sin then let it be. Cast that stone. It is written in Matthew 7:1-5 (UKJV) Judge not, that all of you be not judged. For with what judgment all of you judge, all of you shall be judged: and with what measure all of you mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why behold you the splinter that is in your brother's eye, but consider not the beam that is in your own eye? Or how will you say to your brother, Let me pull out the splinter out of your eye; and, behold, a beam is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of your own eye; and then shall you see clearly to cast out the splinter out of your brother's eye. Remember this. Before he is a pope he is also a brother in Christ. If you find faults in his duty pray for him. For he is only a man just like st Peter before him and st Paul before him and many popes and bishops before him.

Proud to be a Roman Catholic with its tiniest city and independent sovereignty in the world. The Church is fully Human, so as this supporting army and many other humanly supporting 💜 services. The Church is also fully Divine like its Head Jesus Christ. At its human nature the Pope is the HOS Head of State and the leaders of world governments respect him. And at its Divine nature the Church that has been built on the rock of St Peter at Caesarea Philipi to preach the Gospel of God make all nations deciples and the Pope is its earthy leader and head. All other denomination on this planet earth shall respect the Pope despite personal disagreements due to limited understanding and hatred.

Outstanding presentation. I was surprised the narrator at a few points stepped back from acknowledging the existence and belief in Jesus. Trying to please too many people and belief systems for my liking. In the 3 years of his public life the Lord did over 40 individual miracles directly witnessed and testified to by early Christians, and there were other occasions where multitudes came to him and all present were healed. Those miracles continue with Eucharistic miracles, individual healings that authenticate and affirm sainthood, and the long history of miracles recorded at the sites of Mary's appearances, Lourdes, Fatima, Guadalupe to name only a few. Evidence is there. Opposition to His authority is also with us of course, ever since the serpent in the garden of Eden.

No, all religions are NOT the same. Jesus is the ONLY one who confessed to being God himself as the Son. Other religions can only confess to having 'prophets' at their core. These in many cases directly confess that they are NOT God, and that they look to someone higher who is coming.

The Pope is one of the most heavily guarded persons in Italy, and any threat against him would have to go through the Roman Carbinieri first, then the Vatican Police...before even reaching the Palace where the Swiss Guard actually are.

So the Swiss decided to build and fund a new barracks for the Swiss Guard. The existing building has no architectural or historical value so the Vatican agreed to have the current building razed and rebuild a new one with private rooms and bathrooms for all soldiers and all other amenities you expect in the 21st century in a first world country. The Swiss are ready. They are now waiting for a Vatican/Italian decision. They are now waiting for four years. :)

Switzerland has always been neutral during great conflicts but that doesn't mean it is not prepared to fight if necessary. Every citizen owns an automatic weapon which he keeps in his home prepared to fight. This is the true embodiment of a militia. The founders of the United States of America had the same idea expressed in the Second Amendment to the Constitution. A citizen army prepared to defend the country against invasion. Instead our government fears its citizens and does its best to disarm them. "When the people fear the government there is tyranny. When the government fears the people there is liberty." Thomas Jefferson

I have to admit, & "good" Catholic I am, I had my communion in Rome at St. Peters, that I thought of Erasmus of Rotterdam, Sir Thomas More's friend, who said of Julius the Pope, he knew who he was the successor of by his chosen name. When does the warrior Pope become the vicar of Christ?
