Looked up stats for Norway, and the figures I found were higher. Median income in the army was $57 473, $69 887 in the airforce, and $79 093 in the navy. Now, that may not be the income when you start off.

Just for future reference, the Puerto Rican Army, aka the Puerto Rican National Guard is part of the United States Army as per the Treaty of Paris due to it being a Territory of the U.S. and as such is paid the same as all members of the American armed forces. The only difference being the COLA (cost of living allowance).

I greatly doubt the accuracy of these figures. The distribution is not mentioned by rank and in many countries, the salary would be very much lower for the hoi poloi and concentrated on higher officers and elite forces( ie the ones responsible for keeping the generalissimo in power.

Absolute work of fiction this, last I checked a Private in the British Army earned £28kpa about $35K US, and I don't think that's right either .
