Man, if you're giving up a K1600B for a Harley because of the camaraderie, you're nuts. Especially for what you get when you buy a BMW over a Harley. Don't get me wrong, your new bike is nice, but if you bought it for the aforementioned reason, you really are nuts.
If one wants camaraderie, then yes, owning a HD will get you that. I prefer the ride and performance of my bike more.
Congratulations. I have 3 HDs in the garage yet more times than not, I take my R1250RT because of the driving dynamics. That’s why we all should have a garage large enough to hold a few bikes 😊
John, thanks again for bringing me along this journey with you and being such a great friend. Big thank you to everyone who reached out and say congrats on my new bike. I will def keep you posted and see what happens from here. Ride safe :)
It’s undeniable the Harley community is second to none!!
I had a Harley and now have a K1600B. I miss the Harley rumble but the Beemer leave the Harley in the dirt. It's an emotional purchase
Problem is, I really like my K1600 GTL AND my Road King, so I kept both. Problem solved.
Almost bought a Harley Road Glide ST in Sand Pearl this week, but ended up buying an Indian Challenger Dark Horse Premium in Titanium Smoke.. the features of the Challenger over the Harley was the reason and the fact that the Harley folks play too many games with prices. Hate the $5000 ADM and then have to get them to come down from the clouds. First American motorcycle have only had BMW’s and still do have a 2022 BMW R1250R, just the sound of the V-Twins is one thing and the second is just trying something different from BMW. Enjoy the Harley they are nice bikes.

You made a great choice!
Another great video. I grew up on the metric bikes and in 2011 I purchased a Victory Cross Country. That bike was well designed and reliable so when Polaris bought Indian I knew I wanted one. I purchased a 2014 Indian Chieftain that I put about 30K miles before selling it. When H-D came out with the M8 I decided to buy a new 2017 SGS. It was love at first sight. The SGS didn't have the locking saddle bags or the adjustable windshield but the paint and overall fit and finish were superior and the 107 M8 was better than the TS111. I had a stage 2 set up on the SGS and that made it even more fun to ride. I kept the SGS for 3 years before buying my current RGL. My only complaint regarding the SGS was the fairing. I'm 6'1" so the fairing made the bike feel small and I wanted a full touring bike that would be more comfortable for two up rides with my wife. The RGL fit the bill and since I knew I was going to be keeping this bike for a long time it's turned into a project bike. I did a 128 build, with all the goodies. Having a limited is like owning two Harley's. When it's just me I have the solo seat installed and the tourpak removed. With the CVO style rear fender it just looks like a bad ass RG.
I rode Honda motorcycles for many years and will never bash them. In 2016 my neighbors had Harley’s and I thought you paid for the name. After test riding a 2016 Low Rider S I shut my mouth when I took it for a test ride and my head snapped back when I hit the throttle hard I was sold and took it home. Now a proud owner of a 2020 Street Glide Special
Had plenty of other streetbikes! Bought my first Harley about 3 year's ago! No looking back!! Just purchased a used 2005 Harley davidson Dyna super glide custom last weekend! Getting delivered April 5th 2023!! Can't wait ! My dad owns 2 Harley trikes! My youngest brother owns a Harley also ! Can't remember the model ! That's what I love about the Harley-Davidson family! They will bend over backwards 2 help out! Plus the parts are never ending!!! Just subbed!! Awesome vids Brother!!!
I am new to harley davidson I just got it on May 2019 as a graduation gift to my self at age 57, retired army soldier yes but love motorcycle and like you say that harley community is thight
WOW John, if had not come out I was going to ask you if Manny was a LEO. I am originally from New Orleans and my Dad was on the N O P D, also a lot of my cousins. I have a cousin who was on the Jefferson Parish S O and one of my best friends was on the St Charles Parish S O. Being surrounded by so many I can spot them in a crowd because of the way they talk, and carry themselves etc. Like all of the rest he seems like a great guy. You have a fabulous life being friends with the people in your circle. KUDOS!

Congrats!!! Jeeps and Harley are the only brands out there with so much loyalty and spirit. The new 117 with performance cams from the factory on Street Glide ST is insane. I thought the 117 on the Breakout is amazing, but the Street Glide ST is even more.
What an incredible coincidence. My name is also Manny, and I just traded in my 2021 BMW R1250RS for a 2023 Harley Fat Boy. Like your friend, I wanted to be "different" when I bought the BMW. It has lots of power, technology, super handling, etc. Great bike overall. But, the Harley has that unmistakable attitude and presence that no BMW can match. Not to mention the community of riders and the camaraderie that goes with it. I took a test ride on the Fat Boy and I was hooked!
Anybody that would get rid of a spaceship for an antique needs a psychiatric evaluation.
23:12 I’m 6’2 Army vet with bad knee, shoulder and neck. Labor Day long weekend I finished a 1500mi in 29 hr saddle sore Iron butt ride on the K1600 stock seat. The best of any stock seat I have ever tried to include the really good 2020 Honda GW seat. True tires are gone quick because I have 160hp 130ftlbs $500 and change them yourself with $50 of Amazon gear: rim protectors, two sets of irons and a wheel balancer. Back wheel will have to be done at car tire shop because of 5 lug pattern. Add 4 hrs worth of swear word coins and buddy you’re done. 😂

I just sold my '15 K1600GTL to buy a low mileage '09 Road King. Got mad at BMW as my clutch master cylinder failed at 7000kms( I'm Canadian) and little support from BMW....prior to that I had a BMW R1200GSA that had a computer failure again at a low mileage and that cost me $2800...so I saw the ad for the Road King and bought it ...flame blue pearl with pewter pearl trim...looks great, but the tech of the Beemer beats the Harley by about a factor of ten, but then again they are different animals entirely. Anyway I do like the bike and enjoy riding it; just have to get used to the quirks and keep the lock-tite handy...happy riding!
Where's Glenn?? What's Up John.. Thanks for the Video.
Welcome to the Right side Road Glide baby… congrats
Yo John, The temperature ranges that you mentioned for your riding preferences are exactly what I think as well. Most of my friends only like to ride in the summer but just like you said, when it’s in the 90s and up or 95 and up, it is just too brutal and it’s only good for a short ride because the sun begins to drain you like kryptonite. …lol In terms of my bike that I had before my 21RGS I was riding a 2020 Indian. The thing that attracted me most was the family like feeling among all Harley riders. It’s just simply an awesome community. The nationwide strength of their dealer network. I just like the feel of the bike. It was just something different about the way. I personally felt riding on a Harley and the respect that you get from others in the biking community. I also like the fact that I can customize my Harley however, I want to because there’s such a strong aftermarket support for the product. I love my RGS and I am always inspired by watching your channel.
Welcome to the Harley family
In 2018 I had a Yamaha FZ1 (naked sport bike) a Spyder, two BMW GS800’s, and a couple dirt bikes. I bought a Street Glide (my first Harley) in 2019, and promptly sold all the other bikes in 2020. Since then, I’ve added 4 Dyna’s, 2 Sportsters, and a 2021 Road Glide Standard. In 4 years, I went from never owning a Harley, to having 8 in the garage. 😁
Been riding Suzukis all my life GSXRs 1000,Hayabusa 1200 SUZUKI TLR /TLS 1000s And now for the first time I find myself looking to buy my first Harley. We're do I even start. 😅
I am European meditteranean driving bikes 35years now & fixing bikes 30 years now, driving very fast bikes as fast as i can, when for once driving Harley Davidson i said "this is so nice!!!!", and after that buy old 2001 Electra Glide and having nice time fixing my Electra, i was lucky as i am 50 years old and i think i have enough life for driving my Harley.
Welcome to the HD Family…Stay Up and Enjoy!!!

First I will say, to each their own,....I've been riding for 55 years and have listen to all the so-called greatness of a harley davidson, and their is none, only in ones imagination. I have listen to the peer presser to buy a harley. I have heard I should buy a harley along with many others. I have heard about the great sound which sounds like an old man sitting in a bucket of water farting. I have listen to the "real motorcycle" bs countless times. I have ridden many of these so-called great harley davidsons,....what have I found, just a name on a gas tank and thats it. If you want to ride with the neighbors, be a part of the herd, get noticed, be accepted, like to be the same as everyone out there, feel like the tough guy,,,,,I guess you would buy a harley davidson. Over the years I have watched the vast major of all those HD for life bikers give it up. More than anything, HD is a social life, and if someone wants to believe HD is some great product, I have not seen it. If anyone wants to buy an HD, its their choice. I have put 75K on a couple BMW K1600's and have ridden 7 different HD and I felt the HD's boring, and way over rated,...but than HD has the social life if that's what one wants from a motorcycle.

So true! I recently sold my RG Ultra CVO 2016 and am now on a BMW R1250 GSA 40Years. I enjoyed the HD very much BUT: HD is old, heavy technology, big business with accessories + clothes of minor quality, expensive to service, much to expensive for what you get…. and the Chapter-thing is not for me. In comparison my GSA is such a joy to ride, modern technology, a lot off torque and power, also customizable, … I love it! Greetings from Austria

Lovely discussion. I'm happy to see the HD values recognised so well. The bikes are very well made, characterful and customisable. For the money there are far more technoligically advanced bike around but outside of the HD community you essentially ride alone or with previously known friends. The HD community is its biggest USP, you better believe other manufacturers are jealous of the community around HD, it's an incredible asset for the Moco

Well I have a GS R1200 Adventure loaded to the hilt and a 2017 RGS also totally loaded and Stage 3 124 that just rips. 1. These are the 2 best bikes IMHO and I will always have 1 of each of these models. I can do anything and everything better on the GS and its just a fantastic bike with the best electronics and a proven design. Then the Road Glide, the best bike HD put out, handles well, great sound and classic style, the community and the ability to just show up and have other Harleys is something you cant put a price on. Theres always something going on within a 30 min ride from wherever you are. Mine has been 100% bulletproof. No sumping or anything for the 5 years it was stock under warranty and service. The Stage 3 has been nothing short of magical and looks to be just as reliable. These are the 2 of my favorite bikes and I will always have them. I may add a Gold Wing or something else but these two are keepers. I also have a Honda CRF450RL which is also a keeper. With these 3 I can do just about anything, anywhere. Actually with the GS I can do anything, anywhere, buts its more fun to have choices. I have ridden the K1600 and think its a great bike. I wouldnt mind adding one but they arent cheap or small.
In 2007 I was riding a Goldwing. And I liked it. My wife and me went to the Smoky Mountains on vacation in the car. I rented an Ultra Classic at Smoky Mountain Harley-Davidson for 24 hours. I never was satisfied with the Goldwing ever again. In 2010 at age 60 I bought my first and only Harley, a 2006 Ultra Classic with 8,000 miles. At age 72 I am still riding that same bike, it now has 116 thousand miles. I love all brands and styles of motorcycles. But I wouldn't want to ride anything but my ultra. You have a great Channel and content keep up the good work. Ride safe.
Good morning, I Started back 1981 with a kawasaki 550 GPC on into a 750cc GPC. Got married and I stopped riding for about 20 years. In 2010 I bought a Sporter, then I switch into a Fatboy. Finally i fall in LOVE ❤ with the Harley Davidson brand and in 2016 i bought a brand new 2016 Street Glide. Thank you for your videos I'll be watching more of it.
I went from Indian Springfield to HD RK. I have a Bad Boyz Scorpion seat on my HD. They are well built. Great choice Manny. She's a beaut.
Went from a Ninja 250 to an XL883 14 years ago. And never looked back. Now I have a ‘22 EGS. Never thought I would go bagger… But LOVE it.
another great video
Prior to my First Harley I owned a Kawasaki Concourse sport tourer For me it was about getting older and I’m ready to cruise not race around anymore And yes most friends are riding Harleys
Hello from The @ChrisGlidesandLowrides Channel. I love your content. Excellent as Always!!!!
Congratulations another awesome video. Always enjoy watching congratulations John to your buddy ride safe and enjoy.
First bike was a Kawasaki klx 250. Loved the adventure part of it. Just grew out of it a little too quick. Then went to a Yamaha v star 1300 had that for a few years. Bought my first road glide back in 2018, it was a 2011 road glide. Loved it. Had that up until last year and bought a 21 road glide. I don’t think I will ever go back to a different bike. If anything I’ll buy another adventure bike but also keep the Harley
If you’re on two wheels and smiling you’re doing it right. I could see myself buying HD. Like you guys say the community and wrenching is like no other. However, for the price of a rode glide cvo I got a 2020 BMW K1600B and in 2022 I bought a Honda Rebel 500se as my coffee and breakfast bike. The aftermarket scene is inexpensive and awesome for the Rebel. Afterward I still had enough money to buy an old 2006 Moto Guzzi Breva 1100 to cafe (prob never finish) out.
I have 2012 bmw k1600 gtl love it .But i purchased 2017 road glide love it, love the ride ,love the music, i like to have two ride !!!!love all the guys i ride with good time .the sound of the bike is great too !!!!

As long as you ride is all that matters . My local BMW dealership has a amazing selection of used Harleys that have been traded in . We are all just searching for that special ride .
My first bike was a kawasaki vulcan. Then I got on my Victory Vegas 8ball, loved that bike, my friend had Indian we said have to be different no Harley. After got my letter Victory was canceling production, tried out Road glide special... rode it home 😁. Can't get me off it now. My buddy had 3 Indians..now he's on Goldwing. Father in law has always had Harley. Helped me sway that direction, the Harley lifestyle and community is the best.
I put 300,000 miles on Hondas before I bought my first Harley!! No regrets!!!
Harleys have a ton of character and define the space. And the community. Like you brother!

The one thing that the Harley has that mot other brands absolutely do not have....CHARACTER. Nothing else sounds like one, nothing else FEELS like one. The ONLY other bikes I have ever owned that are even remotely close...Ducati Panigale R and an RC51.....everything else feels "bland" compared to the Harleys I own. And on top of that, when you are on a Harley, most of that "need for performance" kind of melts away. I currently own 3 built Harleys and 2 Ducati's.....people ask literally ALL THE TIME...which is my favorite....I have a 21RG (HPI pipe, Woods cam, ohlins), a 15 SG (S&S full 124 motor, ohlins suspension) and a 17 Breakout Pro Street (117 tire shredder motor upgrade)....the Breakout handles the worst, is the slowest of the 3, is the most uncomfortable, has zero storage....its my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE to ride cuz it has BY FAR the most character and makes me feel like an absolute GANGSTER when I ride it...... The BEEMER makes way more power, handles better, is more reliable....but the ride itself is just "bland" is the only way I can explain it. ITs not what I would call "Inspiring"....yeah, its faster than the Harley...but no one but a biker would even give it a second look....
Congrats Manny. I had two Goldwings before I bought my 2020 Ultra Limited. Loved the Goldwings but I also was ready to try something new. Harley has come a long way in their design and dependability to the point I was ready to step up. Bottom line, I LOVE MY HARLEY DAVIDSON. Enjoy my friend.

Great Video John I had a 2010 Goldwing GL1800 in Yellow Pearl, I did trade it in for a Road Glide in 2016. Why well everyone was riding HD and I thought I would like the customization. GW was limited in things to change. However I miss that bike for sure the ride was well a Cadillac on 2 wheels. It was fast beautiful and heavy a true bike for the long haul. I have a 2021 RGS now and its customized as much as i can go right now. But Yea the GW was and is my sweetheart If I can get another well I will !! He will miss the BMW too best wishes on the special Manny !!

I went from an 07-883,to a 09-1200, to a 17-Indian chieftain to a 21-challenger . 😂 hated the shake and how my Harleys rode. Tried an Indian and fell in love. A ride is a ride. 2 wheels is 2 wheels. They all get us from point a to point b. Don't matter what ya ride as long as you have fun while doing it.

I did the same 3 years ago; the year after, I bought a 2020 BMW K1600B! Love my BMW but dearly missed my HOG friends and the HD community. If l could afford it, I'd have kept my HD for cruising around...
I own a lovely HD since 15 years. I am very proud of it . But theK1600 is beating the biggest HD left, right and center. The looks doesn"t matter to me at all. performance and reliability is the key ! 160 HP ! Please show me one bike to compete. I callange you.

The Beemer is like a Ferrari draws attention and it should. Well I guess ( maybe because I am older) I wanted " Old school " I bought a Harley Davidson Heritage. Everyone loves their $30k HD until they trade it in. I've owned many HDs, the mystique is "the club", the bling, the parts, the acceptance. At a point, some of us branch out to bikes that will do everything a HD will, and then some, for half the price and couldn't care less about playing Outlaw Wanna be.
What heated grips are you rocking? And is it worth it? Love your content.
As far as street bikes goes I started out on a 1974 750 Honda then I went to a 76 SS750 Honda then I went to a 1986 Honda V65 Magna and modded it out... That thing was scary fast...Then I got a 1988 Heritage Softail Classic that I absolutely loved...then a 92 Super Glide...then a 2014 Heritage Softail... One of my favorite bikes I've ever had...and now a 2021 Road Glide.... I love my Road Glide probably better than anybody I've ever owned..... If I ever get another one it will definitely be a Road Glide...
