This was the final year of production for the W140 Chassis, a substantial and well built platform. dam I love this car.. it reminds me hanging out with my uncle back in 96 when he 1st bought 1.. I'll never forget the attention this machine got us.. wow they sure dnt make em like that anymore. the new models are cool but it's just something about these heavy big boys..

I bought one needing tires and front shocks a steering damper brakes in front and now a worn bushing replaced,went for a drive at 110 mph and believe me I got worried that I would fall asleep while diving with only my thumb on the wheel.Without question I have never driven or been in a ride so perfect.Really a work of art.
i have owned 2 of these W140's my 1st was a all white 1995 S500 Lwb that someone ran into the rear of me and totaled it . so I took the insurance money and bought me a 2004 w220 S55 amg Kompressor black on black with 102,000 miles that I totally Love! But still I went back and bought me another W140 big body this time a 1999 S420 LWB black on black perfect showroom condition with 132,000 miles I absolutely love both of them to death !!
no car can compete in terms of comfort , reliability and performance. the best and dream car in the world.

I have this car but its the 3.2 i6 motor. Still very powerful and smooth. I can only imagine what the v8 is like. Wow.

Great video! I have one of these - '99 S320. In white and in almost the same condition but with 140,000. daily driver. My friends turn their noses at the age but in short - let us compare their plastic headlights to my glass and the fact that even pro. locksmiths can't get in them and I have spent $0 in repairs in 2 years excluding headlight lamps. I have 4 key fobs and the valet key under the car. Carved out of granite. Again, Great job on all of your cars.

The W140 is a great car for sure! This wasn't Bruno Sacco's last pen design at all... He was at Mercedes as a designer until '99! He even designed the successor, the W220, that was released in '98... also other Mercedes cars that came out during the 90's and early 2000's!
Mercedes spent over a billion dollars for this models R&D. Truly the best engineered car in history.

Have to stop you when you said this car is safer than new cars today. Absolutely not. Send this car head on to a 2018 accord and you’ll be leaving this Mercedes in an ambulance. Absolute fact. Especially in an offset small angle head on crash. New cars use way way WAY stronger steel than this Mercedes did and energy management zones are worlds more advanced. And don’t get me started on active safety too. I understand the S Class was the pinnacle of safety in its day but it’s nowhere NEAR the level of safety of new cars of similar size and weight. Nowhere near. I understand you’re a salesman though and it’s part of your pitch.

Lol, doubt anyone would leave in an ambulance in this car if it hits a car of the same size or smaller. Im sure the accord is safer though.
