Search ampinvt modbus, lots of info out there. Apparently it's not really modbus according to one project I found. There's nothing particularly special about the commands you can throw at the unit by the looks of it.

@@Misack8 Sort of. I've never had my hands on one of these to check myself, I'm just interested in the automation side since I've done a fair bit with Victron etc. There is a github project that says it's not really modbus. The register map is known though so it shouldn't be hard to chat with it.

Since the controller can take up to 150v input, best to series up the solar panels for higher voltage and lower current. This is how a solar array is typically configured when using many panels and a MPPT controller.

I bought two of these charge controllers in yellow a month ago on sale for like $75 each, they work awesome! I have 48v battery running 3s3p of 370watt 45v panels. Fans on inverter run based on incoming power, they don’t wait for temp to rise, thus the units run cool and never get hot. I’m getting 2.0-2.2 kw from it.

Redodo/LiTime/PowerQueen are all manufactured by the same manufacturer. I’d go as far as saying the 3 companies are owned by the same parent company because their product lineups are IDENTICAL. Honestly a pretty good strategy because they are known for having good build quality at budget level pricing. They are down to about $230 for a 12V 100Ah if you buy their most basic model (and sometimes the Mini batteries are the same price as the standard Group 31? Batteries). *The minis do use pouch cells instead of prismatics. Some people prefer prismatics but if your pouch cells are properly compressed you’re getting a better energy density and I’ve read conflicting info on cycle life between the two. Either way they both will get thousands of cycles even at 100% DOD down to 80% State of Health. So 10 years of daily cycling at which point the battery will still have plenty of life left but the next chemistry will already be at the point of being cheaper than LiFePO4. I bought two PowerQueen Minis last year for $240 each and they had almost sequential serial numbers. Amp hour capacity was the same down to a tenth of an amp hour (105.3Ah at a little less than 0.2C) and watt hour capacity was also identical (1363wh and 1368wh). IR measured with an RC3563 was 3.6mR IIRC measured on the terminals. When you’re paralleling or even putting batteries into series it is extremely beneficial to have them be as similar as possible which is why every manual will say only to combine them with the same brand from the same time period. Obviously if you’re watching this channel you know it’s not entirely necessary but it reduces balancing maintenance you’ll have to do in the future. Those 3 brands are what I recommend to anyone looking for a budget battery. Chins has had some pretty sketchy build quality, same with Ecoworthy. There’s a few other brands out there that seem to have similar build quality but these 3 have such a huge market share with so few complaints online that I trust their QC/cell choice over anyone else.

Looks a nice controller, but I think they might want to look at the user interface for things like setting the charge voltage. Seemed like it would be easy to accidentally set it to 23V when trying to change it to 14V. I don't know if they already support it, but a 4 wire battery connection might also be useful, with 2 wires to sense the battery voltage without the voltage drop on the two main wires.

LIFEPO4 MAX VOLTAGE IS 3.65V JUST SET IT TO LEAD ACID TYPE. SAME VOLTAGE AS LIFEPO4 The batteries internal BMS will cut off the charging when the voltage goes above 3.65 but you shouldn't rely on that... I apologize if you already realized this later in the video.
