No no. I'm from South Africa. The previous one didn't cause power outages here, I'm pretty sure that was just caused by the ANC's ownership of Eskom our electricity supplier.

Saw it by chance when I was strolling at night at around 9:30pm on the Saturday it appeared. Found it really weird so I took a picture of it on my phone thinking it was some extremely powerful man-made light source.. I had to walk into a pretty obscure neighbourhood that I've never walked through before to see it. If I didn't make the decision to walk into this neighbourhood, I would have never even seen a glimpse of it. Wish it was bigger so more people could see.

Chilean here. If they were linked, we should see vast auroras daily. Yes, in Chile there are tremors on a daily basis - and there have been *lots* of huge earthquakes since 1859, when the Carrington event made aurora australis visible in Chile, last time we saw them before now. Nope, if there were a link, we would have noticed.

Red aururas are a harbinger of war. Pink and red are also a sign of a collapsing magnetic field.

The colors are caused by the atmospheric gases: oxygen gives red, nitrogen gives green. If the magnetic field were collapsing, be absolutely certain that we would be noticing, in things like compasses not working, every electronic device on Earth being affected, and, most life on the surface dying. Without the magnetic field we would be like Mars. *Auroras show that the field is there and working.* In many cultures red is a merry, good-luck colour. And, humankind has fought thousands of wars, even world wars, without any particular red aurora harbinger. There are auroras every year at the poles. There was no remarkable aurora before Ukraine or Gaza.

First, there have been all manner of warnings in the news about the possible dangers, mentioning the damages the Carrington Event caused, and how in our technologized world it would be way worse. This event was not as big. Second - haven't you ever watched the news? Every time something really bad happens, these good people jump on it and talk about it exclusively for days. Also, if this event were actually dangerous - we wouldn't be watching anything on the internet or TV. Everything would have serious interference or would be fried.
