Solar Guitars A2.6W Review!

This one has been thought about for quite some time but only came to fruition over the past 1-2 months. Didn't quite turn out like I had planned for numerous reasons, but it is what it is!
Really hope you can still enjoy it!

Yes, awkward mc. awkwardface is back with another talking video! 😱 Firstly, there isn't that much actual playing in this video because I didn't have the time to prep and record anything decent(or at least that I was happy with anyway), so the sloppy playing is all me, NOT the guitar! Also there is just sooo much to talk about when reviewing a guitar, but at the same time I didn't want to make the video too long either! Let me know what I missed out and/or that you'd like to see in any future reviews(if I do any more), and what do you think of the neck comparisons? Sound off below! 🤘

Duuude this was AWESOME!! Killer playing, great attention to detail and totally covered all bases man!! I'm still yet to try a Solar too but the neck comparison to an Ibanez fills me with hope!!

Many thanks broseph! I'm always worried about the outcome when I do talking vids and this was one of the most ambitious I've done lol. Wrll one thing I forgot to mention about the neck is that I think the Satin finish will last quite a while compared to other guitars before it turns glossy from use, feels like there's 0 chance of you ever sticking to it, it's uper smooth. If they made a Wizard 1 style D shape then I would be all over them in a heart beat though🤤 Definitely recommend trying one whenever you can though man. I reckon you'll like it.

Glad I could help! I knew there had to be others out there like me who needed to know the details on a neck, it's the main selling point for me on any guitar when I first try one.

I have had this guitar for over a year. Pretty much love it and am fully happy with it especially for its price. I'm targeting drop c sharp for it but haven't quite found the perfect set of strings yet. Mostly loved the sound and tension of the stock 9s by blacksmith while in e or drop d but the strings just felt so small that u couldnt fell them and would often over bend. I think I like the pick ups ok but I am beginning to wonder about others. Seems all my amp profiles/ settings for other guitars arent perfect for this one. Lastly I seem to get alot of coupling ( I think is the phrase). Maybe my strings are too low. Harmonics and squeals are super easy to do but i find that i need more careful muting than on my other axes.

Thanks, it's a relief to hear that, I always worry how people will react when I try something new, but I didn't actually use any other videos or review-type videos as references for this either, I just went with what I thought might work for the info I wanted to give. I'm not sure I've heard the term "coupling" before, but do you mean like fret buzz? as that's the only thing I can think of happening when the strings are too low. My friend's guitar was set up at a good playable action, not crazy low, but just enough so it doesn't buzz and you can move pretty quickly on the fretboard. As for pickups, I can definitely understand when you say about choosing amps and settings, as it took me longer than expected to get a sound I liked with the Laney, so I'm starting to think the pickups might be the reason.

Welcome back! We've been missing ya' (well, at least I have). Glad to see that this one was the particular Solar model that caught your interest since I also purchased one about a year ago, although I went for the version with an Evertune bridge (and I love that thing). Was happily surprised to see that you're using a Laney Ironheart IRT Studio, too! I got mine recently and while the distorted channel does have a fair bit of punch as it is, it really works wonders being boosted by a pedal. Haven't tried the Zakk Wylde Overdrive pedal, but the old-school TS9 does the job just fine for me.

Thanks, that's awesome to hear, and I'll try and post more regularly when I can, I have a couple more vids I can work on, aswell as the odd SWOLA vid every couple of weeks maybe. I actually mixed up my words at the start, I was meant to say the specific purchase he made was that one😂 The amp is pretty good, and I managed to get a good lead tone out of it for a short Megadeth cover a while back, but I actually don't like all the eq options it has, it's a little too overkill for me, I thought I'd use it just because it's probably going to be the most similar sort of amp I own that most people will be using, all my other gear is vintage haha. I've boosted loads of amps with the Wylde, it's a great pedal! basically like a slightly tighter version of a DS-1 imo. I'm still yet to get or try any sort of tube screamer, but I hear they're all good.

I own an A2.6c it’s got a lovely feel to it and it’s nice and light. I like the low power pickups because it allows you to crank your amp more which is a good thing. My only gripe is the pickup selection is split bridge of neck no option for both splits on although the switch could be retired to do that. Also you get small pots and the selector switch is a cheaper part. Other issues was intonation needed setting up because it was only roughly set so would be an issue if you’re a beginner and not knowing that even though the open strings are in tune it’s out on the higher register. Apart from that it’s a very good guitar and Metal AF⚡️🤘⚡️🎸

Thanks gor the feedback, it's always interesting to hear people's opinions on their guitars👍. Yeah it's got everything it needs in terms of build and playability, fretwork was really good on this one and felt nice and smooth, it's just mainly a hardware thing like you said, it's a good thing imo too though because it allows you to customise things regarding pups and hardware yourself, if the pups have 4 conductor wiring then you're laughing! If you're bothered by a cheap switch then you can always replace that while you're changing the pup wiring too! Build quality is there so you can turn it into a monster with a few upgrades🤘

thanks for this review. Like you I can't close my right hand when I'm playing, so sometimes my pinky bumps into stuff, it happens to me on ibanez guitars when the pickup selector is on the neck, so I occasionally bump into it and it's annoying. Do you think that could happen on that guitar too? is it in the same position? thanks

How's the playability of this guitar compared to the Ibanez RG and S Series?? How is the neck of this guitar? Is it like the same thin neck like Ibanez guitars? Please reply.. i am thinking of buying this guitar.. which one do you like better ibanez or Solar?? 😁👍🏻 And is it true that the neck of this guitar cracks after some weeks of playing??

I probably should have checked on their website and then included that bit of info in the video, but didn't think of doing it at the time, apologies.
