Finally someone explains what those “stupid” blue things are and do! Thank you
Just done this myself. It's easy. If I can do it, _anyone_ can. I now have my second solar panel up and charging my new Bluetti. Yay!
This is an excellent tutorial for a newbie like me. Thank you! I’ve subscribed to your channel and look forward to checking out your other content.
Hi Elvis, that gets me just saying your name!!! You and I seem to be of the same mindset, as I'm delving into Solar with the Bluetti AC300 with 2 batteries etc. And I'm studying panels/ connections, total watts/volts to maintain a charge on my Solar generator set up. It's a lot to take in, and I'd rather spend a bit of time up front and get the RIGHT EQUIPMENT NOW, rather than back step and but it later and waste $$$ So i guess I'm using my cents (sense) to save dollars later. Like you gas powered equipment is OK but has so so many drawbacks. Thanks again for your time and info.
Thanks Elvis, that was really explained well :-))

Thanks brother.. I tried my best to do the elementary education on this one because believe it or not there seems to be a lot of confusion on this issue, I Kinda had to drag it out a little bit! 😉👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks, new to these connectors and this answered some of my questions!
Great demo! Thanks for sharing.
HOWdy E-A, Thanks for the INSTRUCTIONAL Video COOP ...
Outstanding information, so informative. Thank you so mutch.
Thanks so much for this video! ❤
Thanks for the video that helped a lot

Elvis, great video. I need to extend some of my cables so I can clip them to the underside of the solar panels. Can you tell me please if we are able to take the cable out of the plastic thing that is fixed to the underside of all panels
Thanks!
thank you

Hey brother! 👍👍👍
Nice demonstration. My DIY system is pretty small, 7 panels in parallel, for a 1400 Watt total. I can't find a video where you can size up the wire. Is it possible using only connectors or do I need a junction box to switch wire size?
The female insert goes into the male connector, so, the male insert goes into the female connector. I finally came to terms with this after installing 30 panels.

Gender bender LOL It's the contacts, ie the important bits that count
Should have mentioned it's very important to put the right connection on if your playing around with the solar panel wires. For extension cables it doesn't matter because the solar panel dictates what is positive and negative.
excellent video. thank you...i have made a mistake and put the wrong connectors on and wrong pins, how can i remove the pins out to start again? hard to find anything on this which seems stupid because surely i am not supposed to throw away the ones i made a mistake on... HELP PLEASE!!
Which of the three crimper slots do you use for AWG 10 ?
So can I just cut the cable in half. Use 10 gauge wire. But connectors and heat shrink?
I had no idea that you were into solar? Good deal Elvis, you do a fine job explaining things and I’m sure that we will all get some great instruction from your videos.
How can you crimp an mc4 connector with an 8awg wire? Same tool?
Will there be a voltage drop when you have a long solar cable ?
Why would you use 8 AWG VS 10 AWG? Is it better to have 1 50ft cable vs 2 25ft?
I am a bit confused. On the solar calculators online it is recommending me to use 6awg wire from the panels to the inverter because of the long distance the panels are from the house. It looks like mc4 connectors only use 10 to 14awg wire. I purchased some branch connectors but now I’m wonder will my cable fit on the other side of the branch connectors with them being 6awg. Why would they recommend a big size like that if I am not able to connect them to mc4 connectors, it just doesn’t make sense. Am I missing something?
If wire is 6mm then should I use 6mm2 hole to crimp it?
👍 Good
What about cables size ? 2.5mm2 or 4mm2?
Thanks for the info. Just got a hold of an Ecoflow Pro today and a couple of panels...Is there any max length that I can run extension cables? I'd like to put the generator in the basement..probably around 40" from where the panels will be...Thanks, look forward to watching you again!

Also, would I need a heavier gauge wire? 8gauge maybe? Thanks.
What’s going on Elvis I’m learning I just hope that my mind can absorb the information quick enough to get my home set up

You can’t go wrong just start collecting solar panels, solar generators, battery banks, things that will help you when things go wrong. Some of this stuff will become harder to get. We buy insurance to ensure against unforeseen damage, this is no different. Research and ask questions.I’d be glad to help if I can.. 👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏✌️

Thanks Elvis I was thinking this unit would handle the whole house. But as I have been researching basic wat usage. I have come to the reality this unit is a companion unit for say something in the 9000 wattage range. However once I get the 9000 watt unit I’m going to pick this unit up for everything else. I wish there was a Solar unit that could produce 9000 watts. Similar to the generator inverter units
Please double check your cable genders. The gender is based on the conducting pin, not the insulating housing. So, even though the outside looks male, the pin itself is female, so these labels are backwards. This could lead to a lot of misunderstandings.

Yup. This is confusing about MC4 connectors. The male looking connector actually has the female internal pin, so the entire connector is considered female, and the larger connector that looks like it should be female has the male internal pin and is considered male
Should you solder these to make sure they don't come loose? How do you know which size hole to use on the crimper.
@i_know_nothing7788
Жыл бұрын
You have been taught to solder and can do it for use in high vibration environments and thus know there is no provision in mc4 for physical restraint. So you can't solder MC4s to meet professional standards.
Can the male and female metal ferrels be inserted wrongly or is it pretty much idiot proof?
on ur bullets have u ever done hollow points??

I am actually in the upstate of South Carolina. Someone else thought I was from Kentucky👍
So Elvis is holding a female connect and naming it a male connector. He is fooled because it has a sticking out plastic part that goes into the other connector. It reminds him of something and so is called male. Whereas the sex of a connector is determined by the inserts (metal bits). It is a good idea to use the same naming convention as the rest of industry.
Oh this is Robert, don't know why it shows my wife's name
Actually the Male is the inner part. The Female is the outer part..The plastic casing is not what determines it...
I'm not sure I'd take much advice from a guy who doesn't know the difference between a male and female terminators The male Terminator goes into the female housing and the female Terminator goes into the mail outer housing.. Oh and your philosophy on photovoltaic is also wrong. solar is a viable option for running your entire house. I live on a 40 acre ranch, my house and my 5000 ft² workshop are all solar powered. The workshops got two tons of air conditioning in it as does the house.. All run on DC mini-splits.. My well pump even runs off its own solar installation.. The ranch is completely off grid. And I produce more power than I can use. I would love to sell the surplus back to the grid.
What happens if you have a male connector that identifies as a female connector? 😂😂 I'm sorry couldn't help myself.

althought we disagree with that, people mentioning that bull crap keeps it alive, no thank you. theres male and theres female
Funny just watched another video and explained male and female totally different,,,, strange world
So, the female insert goes into the male insert???? Role reversal at its finest 🤣.
Good grief.
I never installed a solar system. My nearest neighbor has one though and I figure I can take his when the time comes. He’s a scrawny necked liberal with pronoun identity issues.
