According to the first paragraph on page two of a NASA document from 2017: "The best thing to do is to cover the camera lens with a solar filter during the moments before (and after) totality when the sunlight is still blinding. This will eliminate sun blooming and give you a clear image of the solar disk. You can use one of those ISO-Certified sun-viewing glasses that will be available for eclipse viewing to cover the smartphone lens. DO NOT USE SUNGLASSES!" I have the filter that you showed for phones, I'm not sure I am doing it right. All I get is black. Suggestion(s)?

Will not ruin the lens 🙄 but it will be blurry without the filter. You can take the filter off during totality

Will a polerizing filter work like the camera solar filter?

Absolutely not! A polarizing filter cuts glare. It will NOT stop harmful potential damage to your retina, nor your phone.

Can't you just take a pic and then crop the pic ? 😲

Ill just let everyone else damage their phone and share their pictures and ill screen shot theirs
