In Wiktionary, there's a theory on how 土(soil) came to be, and that is it represents a lump of clay on a potter's wheel, I can't find further evidence to support it.
In teochew, 土 is tou6, but 塗(tou2) is the character used to represent soil, earth, dirt.

The next video should be about 士 because it's easily confused with 土, right?
