Shila Amzah is a "guest" vocalist on this collaboration. She is actually a major star in her own right, having had a 6 year career as a premier performer in China. She sings in 9 languages (at last count), including Malay, English, French, Hindi, Tamil, Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog (Filipino), Korean. SOG is the band which includes all the other singers, and they are actually known as "Sekumpulan Orang Gila" which translates to "A Band of Crazy People" and are a long-lived underground indie/emo/metal band in Malaysia. This song was originally done as the theme to a Vampire movie in Malaysia "KL Vampires". This win as the best song of AJL 36 is a major win and boost to the indie/metal music industry in Malaysia, and is also a wonderful indication of how Malaysia views music. Music is "ALL" music - traditional, classical, pop, rock, emo, rap, etc. This song embodies classical, traditional, indie rock, emo/screamo, and some pop. It is very much like Malaysian Food (which is a blend of multiple cultures stirred together) and Malaysian Culture which is accepting of all races, languages, cultures, and religions. An amazing place to grow up and live in. And the music is great too! It's getting a reputation for being very open to crossing genre barriers and coming up with new sounds. We even have blends using traditional folk children's songs with rap which seems to work surprisingly well. Major stars have adapted to, and embraced, this, allowing for collaborations like this.

They won the 'Best Song' award in the AJL 36 because according to the judges this is something different they brought up to the music industry. They were originally an underground indie band, who turned mainstream, and yes, they're siblings. They happen to know Shila Amzah as friends so they came up with an idea to do this collaboration. Shila Amzah is a pop singer who's very popular in China after she won a competition in China.

Better than any other new song.This song gives something fresh to Malaysia music industries....unlike that people nowadays called kids are getting grown or BBNU all their songs give zero benefits all is about disappoinment in love or about teenagers love that their melodies makes people suicide.....hope this music genres rises again in Malaysia...

Shila Amzah is not the first Malaysian nor first Malay Malaysian to break Chinese market. Do your research ya. Before her, there was Malaysian like Biduan Frankie Cheah, Eric Moo, Fish Leong, Gary Cao and for a facts, Malay singer like Fauziah Latiff who recorded a mando-pop album in China. Kak Jee used to tour around China in 1992. Shila is just continuing the close ties between Malaysia and China, and if you want to count by first, yes she is the first hijab singer from Malaysia who's able to penetrate and succeed in Chinese market.

There's no such thing as INDIE rock. Indie is a platform , not a music genre. SOG is major in metal and post hardcore. Indie stands for independent mean the musical act compose produce and market its own music without any mainstream label. Stop associating INDIE as a music genre. In indie scene there's so many genres from rock to jazz to even traditional fusion.

Thanks Bro for this reaction. Fyi the AJL36 (Anugerah Juara Lagu - The Best Song of The Year Award) a yearly event to pick the best song of the year composed by Malaysian composers. The video that you react was a finale for the song released in 2021 & it was the 36th year of the competition. (sorry for my bad English, hope you can understand). SOG is an indie band & they collab with Shila Amzah ( one of the best singer in Malaysia & China) in Pelukan Angkasa which won the best song of AJL36. I think they won it because the uniqueness of the song which combined traditional music elements with rock music. In Malaysia there are quite numbers of songs with combination of traditional & modern music elements. I hope you'll react more Malaysian music after this. I'll share the links later.
