"Custom" or "Costume"..? Different meaning... Our variety of "customs" consists mainly from Malay, Chinese, Indian, Dayak, Iban, Kadazan, Murut, etc... Different states with different races & different customs... We respect each other"s customs... Meanwhile, as to the "costumes", we are free to choose whatever that we want to wear as long as it is not contrary to our laws. We still have to adhere to a certain dress code if we want to enter the government offices. As for our artists, they are free to choose whatever they want to wear to express their arts and masterpieces, as long as it is not against our laws. So, our artists are able to show, interpret, express & perform the best that they can..

Just to add-on FYI. In an interview with regards to Q on her stage attire she explained she draws inspiration frm Lady Gaga and RuPaul Drag show on Netflix. Rightly so coz she's diminutive size with a need besides her vocal prowess to be conspicuously stand out. In Msia she pioneered such stage appearance performance in outlandish special designed outfits, trailblazing for other singers to follow same.
