Martin Carton has been working at Prodrive Technologies for 6 years. He has an educational background in applied mathematics and computer sciences, and never really thought he would be working in a factory before joining Prodrive, but there are many interesting things to automate and processes that can be more efficient. Martin is now the architect of Prodrive Workcenter Automation, one of the applications developed at Prodrive for their factory.
At Prodrive Technologies, we are creating the factory of the future, where everything is automated as much as possible. For this you need a lot of specific hardware: robots capable to pick components, automated guided vehicles capable of bringing them where they are needed, milling machines, and smart screwdrivers. But you also need a lot of software to control all of these and make them work together. At Prodrive we develop most of the hardware and software our factory needs in-house, tailored to our specific needs. This presentation will be about some of the software components needed to make a factory work without humans.
