Anytime you use the dough hook on a KitchenAid stand mixer use only speed 2 up to five minutes.
I’m loving the sweet personal touches and family pictures you’ve been incorporating lately.
Since Ive been using your recipes my mom and tias PRAISE my food. I Lowkey think theyre a little jealous 😎😂

Rice and tortillas are the main things
Going to give it another shot. Fingers crossed they come out as soft as yours look. 🤞
Last night I had my 26 year son over to celebrate his birthday. I made your flour tortillas and Birria taco meat. He loved his birthday dinner! I went to sleep thinking how lovely you are to share your heritage and skills with us. Because of your commitment to teaching and educating us I went to my first Mexican market and found some amazing treasures there including Pizza Doritos and Cinnamon cookies! I also found the cheeses and peppers I needed for my meals and so many other wonderful things. Everyone raved about the tortillas and went back for seconds and thirds! I am so grateful to you!
Thanks for all the tips! I never knew why it was so important to rest the dough but now I know 😊

The same is true when making fry bread..use hot tap water and let it rest a long time before you fry it. If you font go that they turn out like hub caps.

@@Junzar56 No wonder my fry bread would also always come out terrible! This helps me with sooo many recipes now! ☺😎
Thank you, Mama; we tried today making them for the 1st time and they were good. I'm going to let the balls rest as long as you did next time (25 mins) so they won't shrink when I roll them flat. Thank you for all your patience with us newbies.
Yum! I miss my grandma 's homemade tortillas! She's almost 89 and doesn't do much cooking anymore. I have the memories of warm tortillas with butter!
Thanks for all the subtle details of understanding, that make a big difference.
Loving the idea of a series , that would be greatly appreciated and beneficial for all food lovers and learners.

It’s the tortillas that keep her looking so young! 😁
I’ve learned so much from your videos. I’ve been making your tortilla recipe since 2017. I made your tamale recipe in 2018, my first time ever, my family loved them along with your Champurrado recipe which was so comforting on a rare cold Texas evening. Your many variations of enchiladas, rice, caldo have helped me gain the confidence to tweak my own recipes as well. I truly appreciate your generosity in sharing your family’s recipes.
My mom taught me the same ingredients as yours.♥️ Plus some times she would add the bacon grease drippings for extra flavor.
I learned many years ago to make flour tortillas for my hispanic husband. I made them for my children as well. You are correct, they do not last. I now have two granddaughters that I want to make them for. Couldn't find my recipe but found yours, and I thank you. I absolutely love your channel. Such fond memories for me while raising my children.
Made mine today, they were perfect! Thank you. 😊 fried egg and some refried beans, sweet tea. Oh yeah!
I didn't realize how much I needed this video! Thank you🤗
Really appreciate your patience and all the questions you answered. Can't wait to try this!
Thank you thank you, my tortillas came out so good and soft! I used cold bacon grease like my mother. Last time I made them they were rock hard. Please keep up the videos
The philosophy of the shelf life of tortillas. Something to ponder while making tortillas.
Love watching your videos. A lot of stuff wasn't passed on in my family,. Things like making tamales have been lost for the last generation or two. When I make things like tortillas or any other traditional foods, it makes my older family members reminisce. They start telling stories about how their abuela or an old lady that lived down the street always had fresh meals ready for them after school.
THANK YOU! Followed your steps & what an improvement 👅. They rolled out so much better, I took your recommended time for kneading, resting, and rolling out. I was putting too much flour on them when rolling, too, making them too dry. They came out perfect today. THANKS!
Extremely helpful thank you soooooooo much!! You answered all what I have asked ! I like more videos like this. Great job
Great! Thanks for the tips! Agree with what you say about adding fat and enough moisture. If people are complaining about short shelf life, either make them yourself for the day of or be fortunate enough to live next to a business that does it fresh each day.
I'm super impressed! Your tortillas look amazing. I can't wait to try it. I love your channel!
This is a great idea for a series. Answer a few questions from your fans. Thanks for the video!
This video was great. Sometimes my tortillas come out perfectly but sometimes they don’t...this definitely answered my questions
Thank you for always coming back with new advice!
This is great because I just tried out the soft flour tortilla recipe for the first time last weekend. They didn’t puff up and I was wondering why. I do think I rolled them too thick as well but they were very soft and tasted delicious. I will keep trying with these tips thank you!
Great key points! My grandmother made them the same way...ours don't last either. I remember when we were kids i can remember my abuelita making tortillas early in the morning to warm up the house and she would work so hard to make at least 3-4 dozens their was a bunch of us and I remember she would put butter or Manteca out with salt. By the time she was all done most of the tortillas were already gone! It was a treat...a wood stove morning with red chili 🌶️ and papitas....I miss her so much😢❤️.But these are the Special memories and Special times I will never forget! I love you grama Carmen!!❤️😢

Aww 🥰 yes the memories. I remember as a kid coming home from school my mom would be making flour tortillas and have a pork Chile stew on the stove (Chile Colorado). The wonderful smell coming out of her kitchen are still in my memory. Mom would always say, “here I made you a ‘gordita’ put butter on it.” Sweet memories.❤️
Great video! I have been getting good results, but I think sometimes moisture could be better. But they taste great and are somewhat soft. So I just keep practicing. I make a small batch of 10-12 and put them in a gallon ziplock in the fridge. Works for me. I just like the taste so much more than store-bought! It's been a fun part of my kitchen routine!
This video is so helpful and informative! I really appreciate that you took the time to explain the steps and the reasoning behind them. Great video and please do a series on Q & A’s!! 😁
Thank you for showing your recipe in grams and the explanation of why fat is added, why resting is important. Brilliant video thank you. And now I’m subscribed 😊
Thank you so much for the answers you provided here! Your tortillas look so good!! I keep practicing!!
This was very helpful!! Thank you.
I love your videos keep it up! I'm from New Mexico and tortillas are the staple with beans in chili I've made 30s many times but I've never been able to accomplish what you performed on this video I'm going to keep trying over and over again for years to come and teach my children as well.
Oh my!! Thank you for this video!! I watched one of your videos yesterday and made them and they turned out perfect!! (my first time to make them) Today I made them, and they were horrible! I found this video and you answered every question and problem I had!!
Thank you so much. This is one of the most helpful videos on how to make flour tortillas I’ve seen
THE BEST "how to" video EVER
Heh bro I've been following you for many years. Had to stop cooking for a while due to my bad migraines. I've been feeling better, and wanted to pull back up your tortilla recipe. Was glad to see an update! These are the best!
I owe you a huge thanks, i haven't bought store bread except for naan , since your tortilla video.
I just came across your channel! And I love how you went about the negative comments and the recipe was on point and now I’m on my way to see what else you cook so I can try it out!! And the series idea that’d be great!! Love it !! Do it!!
Thanks for the explanations. I never knew why the dough was drying out. I started to use a silicon mat so that it wouldn’t stick when rolling and not have to add flour.
Thank you for sharing. I just made the tortillas and I followed your directions. They came out perfect. Now if they would be round I would be happy.
Thank you for the tips! Resting and moisture (sticky dough) Best tortillas in the world where my grandmother's. I wish she or my mother would have taught me how to make them properly with the right techniques.
Thanks for doing this video I just made your tortillas the other day and now I know I needed to have them rest longer
I just love your channel!!
I learned how to do tortillas cause of you lol It took practice but i did it now i don’t have to weight the ingredients ❤️
That Tortilla cooking is just so Beautiful to Me. Thanks for Sharing. Take Care and God Bless.

This was so helpful! I tried making these tortillas a couple of weeks ago and they didn't puff up 😕 Will try again! Thank you!
Omg you dropped some secrets in this video!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge 🦚⚡️
your tips are so great! ☺️
Your tortilla videos are so SO satisfying to watch. TFS, XOXO
Thank you for this in depth video! I’ve been using your original recipe for awhile now and always get compliments on how soft they are. But this definitely answered my many questions on why they came out a certain way. Not sure 🤔 where I learned to pop the bubbles but I need to stop. It makes them crumble when folding.
Thanks! I just tried making flout tortillas for the first time and they pulled back to street taco size. I thought I'd developed the gluten too much. Thanks to you I know to let the dough rest more. I'll try again tomorrow. 😁
I love your simple cooking I'm amazed Thank you thank you Maria
Very helpful! We love your recipes! Thanks!

Love this and helps as I’m making them this week
Lol awesome 👍🏻thank you soooo much for the tip to letting the dough rest. Looking forward to your making tortillas again 🤗
Wow, you mak your tortillas the way my grandma and great aunts, with fat, resting the dough after rolling them into balls and rolling them out flat and hanging them over the bowl. We use a cast iron tortilla pan to cook ours. I’m going to try your recipe as I haven’t made them much over the last 35 years. Thank you for your tut.
So helpful! My tortillas are perfect now. Love your channel! 😊
Awesome video! So helpful
This was sooo helpful.
Very good information. Thanks for sharing
thank you for this. I see where I may have been going wrong :)
Practice, Practice, practice... I start with your recipe, took a little bit, but I tweaked it took out the water and started using milk. But if it wasn't for you. I would never have the confidence to do it! Thank you.
Hey Mamma bought your book. Also subbed. I'm an 80 yrs old South Texas boy (gringo) haha? and grew up on hand made tortillas. I love them. I'm a regular lazy guy and I use a tortilla press for my flour and corn tortillas. Works for me. I enjoy your videos. Dandahermit

It looks so easy when u do it
Thank you for your explanation....much appreciated..👍
Great lesson
Ooooooh that was my issue then I didn’t let it rest enough. Thanks 🙏
Great tips!! Thank you!
I love love love your abuelita and abuelito. I remember my "Wita" making her homemade tortillas. How she would pour BOILING water into her dough, kneading the dough with her bare hands, and 4-5 year old me in awe of her super powers. LOL. She'd always let me try to roll the dough out. Nope. I came out with several continents, states and simply misshapen circles. My God, I miss her.
Great video. Thank you for the tips!
I totally enjoyed this video!!
Thank you it was a good tip.
Thank you sm for the tips i realized in my process of making tortillas I don't allow it to rest long enough and also during the roll out process I'm using excessive amounts of flour to roll it out sometime the bubble come out when I do that but then sometimes they don't I only assumed the only way to keep them from stretching back was to add flour to keep it in place
Thank you so much for breaking down the process.. I’m totally going to attempt making them. I hope my tia is watching and not laughing at me from the heavens…lol❤️
I need to try again. I think I was powdering them too much because they were coming out like tostadas. Okay girl. Your giving me hope. Let’s see what happens.!
Thanks for your knowledge on making flour tortillas tortillas. And you wear those 30 + years, ever so well!🎉

Look at all these delicious recipes! You’re a fantastic cook, young lady. “Let your tortilla dough rest” ? Well, I rest right along with the dough. I don’t like to cook. Mostly, I just like to watch you work away while you make all of this look so easy and simple.
Thanks for sharing your recipe 😋
Thank you!😊
Ohhhh ok make sense thank you this is good to know! 😁👍
