Guys, let's take hats off to martin Lopez. He basically goes over more than ten patterns and grooves towards each song (plenty more on Cognitive). It's like he tries to talk with his drums. It's crazy how much influence news outlets and social media got nowadays. Depending on what they report or how they frame it, the same story can look completely different on two channels. They got way more power than most of us would think, a great (though pretty insignificant) example was the hoarding that started with the pandemic. At least where I live there was no problem until the news told us that there is one, the panic they caused actually made people go out and hoard toilet paper and what not.

I've been listening to it over and over, but I don't think its as strong as Lotus, Lykaia or Tellurian. This track, Deceiver, Dissident are all phenomenal tracks though. Modesty is pretty good. The rest fails to grab me.

They've grown very formulaic since Lotus. Feels like every song is the same with slightly different riffs. Lotus was great but they can't keel it up if they don't freshen things up imo

This song have so much meaning in Chile right now, In october 2019 , we have a major social outbreak, we take the streets and sadly : "LIGHT UP THE FLAME AND THEY WILL HEAR", is the only way to show our anger and change the inequality we live in. Thanks to that this Sunday in Chile, we have to vote, so we can make a new constitution, rejecting the old one that was made, after a bloody coup, in a dictatorship (in the 80's the darkest era of our country) This song ignites my heart once again and remember us that all the people who was severely hurt and died during all this process will never be forgotten. P.S. even when i hoped for seeing Chile in the videos, Bolivia is a neighbor country who represent very well the kind of fight we have with our goberments.

@@blppt funny you mention it....7 months ago while those stations you mentioned, the New York Post, etc., were asking the questions about China and if the virus came from the Wuhan Institute, the Biden families dealings with China and other governments, lockdowns, etc., the stations I mentioned refused to do any real reporting, censored real stories like the Hunter Biden laptop, which would have changed the election if allowed to get to the general population. Now you are seeing a little bit of reporting from the mainstream media on China because Biden is in office. China, mainstream media, big tech all did their best to hurt America just to make Trump look bad to get rid of him. If you still can’t step back and see what happened over the last 18 months, I guess you are part of the flock. This actor perfectly showcased the message of the song. His delivery. Especially when he turned into the devil. That breath he lets out after "defying the king's, for the word that they preach is the wound that is making us bleed" the anger! Great jam.

Damn Mr.Lopez did an amazing job with this song: fills, grooves, textures, dynamics. Everything is near perfection.

Drums are mixed too loud for my taste though. Bass needs to be higher in the mix. At least its not Lykaia, where you couldn't hear Lopez as times (the swells of guitars and bass of "Opal" for example, drowned out his cymbals). I just wonder why they didn't go for the same mix as Lotus---that was about as perfect as they've ever had in terms of production.

Martin Lopez is on fire as always, that sudden breakdown was amazing, that keyboard part at 5:00, and everything about this song is amazing, plus an amazing video to support all of these, this was the best lyric video I've ever seen. Can't wait for the album, thanks for this awsome song and please come to Turkey, you can use my home as a hotel just come as soon as you can! \m/

Seeing them in Dallas beginning of December 2022 - cannot wait - I emailed tour manager 2 yrs ago and was told they have no plans to tour in US - be sure to catch them while you can - not sure they will be back in USA anytime soon.

Okay... bei der Stimme vom Sänger kann halt auch echt nicht mehr viel schief gehen. Die Production ist auch echt Killer. Wer nen vernünftiges Hifi-System hat, weiß wovon ich rede. Die Gitarren drücken einem derarten vor die Brust, dass es nur noch eine Freude ist. Soen sind hier wohl auf ihrem musikalischen Höhepunkt angelangt.

"To honor the ones who walk on the edge of the light to follow their cause" Line is fucking sensational, but the melodic delivery puts it over the edge. That is such a well executed line and it's just this gigantic hook in the middle of the song. So ridiculously good.

One of Opeths finest Drummers Martin Lopez is amazing in Soen! Very Badass band ! Can't wait to see the band June 6th in Seattle
